Leatherwood House is approximately 2 miles off of Highway 74 and very secluded. We are located on the mountain in a hardwood forest above Ponca and the Boxley Valley. You can see Leatherwood's mailbox from the entrance of the Steel Creek State Park. The 2 mile long driveway borders the state park and the only thing back here besides wildlife, is the cabin and walking distance past the cabin but not in view is the owner's home. It is a gravel drive and the hill leading up to the cabin is gravel so if you are traveling on Street Bikes you may want to call and speak to the owners about accessibility. There is plenty of parking next to the cabin and some travelers trailer in their horses, tethering them in the woods next to the cabin as there are 225 acres on the property with plenty of old logging roads and a lot of horse trails in the park and surrounding area. You are a short drive from the Buffalo National River and canoe rentals in Ponca and the Wildlife Center where you can see specimens of the local wildlife, learn about the elk herd and all the local activities of hiking, canoeing, fishing and hunting. We are also close to Mystic Caverns which offers a breathtaking tour for people of all ages.
