The SpaceThe original structure dates back to the early 1920's and was originally built as the town bakery. The Main house was built in the 1890's as a butcher shop. Both have been beautifully refurbished into very comfortable homes. Guest AccessThe Guest cottage sits in the area behind the garage and patio area which makes it feel very private and serene. There is a private patio for relaxing. During the harvest season there are an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables in the garden which guests are welcome to share with us. This includes apples, peaches, pears, strawberries, cherries and kiwi. Interaction with GuestsWe let our guests take the lead on this. We are happy to visit with them, but also are more than willing to let them enjoy the serenity of the property without the distraction of our attentions. The NeighborhoodVallecito is an incredibly rare community where everyone knows everyone else, but rarely do people get into your business. It is a very quiet community made up of mostly retired people. It is not uncommon for neighbors to stop by for an afternoon chat or to drop by a basket of fresh eggs or home cooked goodies. Getting AroundCalaveras Transit does run through on a regular basis and often picks up at the Post Office just down the street, but this has to be arranged through their office. Other Things to NoteWe are in the process of putting in a small dog run for guests who wish to bring their small to medium well-behaved pets along. We would ask that the pets remain outside though in an effort to keep the inside free of any allergens that might affect future guests. We are also available to provide transportation to and from Murphys for any guests interested in a day of wine tasting but concerned about driving after all that delicious wine.
