The SpaceYour room will be the guest room. This room has a full size bed as well as a pull out futon and side table. Other sleeping arrangements can be made for larger parities. There are also several brochures and information packets for things to do around Muskegon. These things are offered to you to help you feel more comfortable about traveling away from home! Guest AccessYou will have access to everything the house has, including washer/dryer, dishwasher, kitchen and its appliances/utensils, WiFi, and a garage if you have things you need stored out of weather. My home is open for your use in any way you need it to be. Interaction with GuestsI typically work evenings and currently on the weekends I work two jobs. I am always available via phone to answer any questions or correct any concerns. When around, I am happy to engage in conversation or leave you to your privacy. I am happy to recommend food, outdoor/indoor activities, nightlife, or other active engagements you may be interested in. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet neighborhood, right next to an elementary school. The typical amount of neighborhood noise comes mostly from cars and the occasional children playing outside. Living in the neighborhood for 12 years, I have never ran into any incidence where I've felt unsafe or where I had to involve law enforcement. Getting AroundI'm approximately 5 minutes from the highway. There is a public bus stop one block away as well as bike trails nearby. Travel throughout the neighborhood and to the highway is quick and easy and for the most part, everything you need will be within a 15 minute drive. Other Things to NoteI do currently have 3 roommates. Everybody's hours of working are different so as a guest you may see one or none of us, depending on your arrival and departure time. While I have guests, I make it a point to inform my roommates of your (the guest) arrival and I generally enforce common courtesy while you (the guest) are present.

The SpaceOur Lake Michigan home is the perfect getaway. Situated on its own sand dune with a west-facing deck (sunsets) and views of both Lake Michigan and Nugent Sand Lake, our three bedroom, one bath cottage is perfect for a work retreat, beach vacation or just to get away from the hubbub of regular life. The space is quiet and picturesque, with plenty of natural light in the common areas through three large windows and a sliding door facing Lake Michigan. We see wild turkeys, deer and other wildlife on a regular basis. I work remotely from the cottage frequently, so the space is outfitted with a good wifi connection, plenty of coffee and a 50 inch flat screen television with a Roku 4 for streaming your Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. At the cottage, you'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere, but in fact you are only a short drive to both Grand Haven and Muskegon, with easy access to anything you might need, including a Meijer and our favorite local restaurants, several breweries and a fantastic bakery within just a couple of miles. Guest AccessThe whole home will be yours unless otherwise arranged. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available through the Airbnb messenger and text. Please let us know if there is anything we can do anything to make your trip better. The goal is to get a 5 star review from each guest, and we want to do anything we can to earn it. The NeighborhoodYou will literally be staying on a sand dune. There is rugged beach access less than a 5 minute hike from the house. Norman F Kruse Park is a half mile up the beach, with fantastic public beaches from there north to the channel. Across the channel is Muskegon State Park with more hiking, a winter sports complex, a Yert and a fantastic Scenic Drive. South of the house you'll find Lake Harbor Park and Mona Lake and then Hoffmaster State Park and Grand Haven's beautiful beaches 15 minutes further south. There are several great restaurants and breweries in the area, both in Muskegon and Grand Haven. Or you could decide to just never leave the house... Getting AroundSadly, we don't have Uber and can't recommend a reliable cab company. This is Michigan, so no public transport. Other Things to NoteWe have short-haired bulldog named Melbourne who enjoys the lake views, but not other pets in his vacation home. He apologizes. While the home can accommodate up to 6, more than 4 adults is probably not recommended. We don't mind if you bring your kids, but we don't have kids ourselves, so if you have any sort of expectations regarding child proofing or kid stuff, you will probably be disappointed.

The SpaceRoom #3 The Pere Marquette Room. Twin bed. Second floor. Full bath on first floor. Perfect for single travelers. Guest AccessThere is access to the third floor music room and cupola via the Pere Marquette Room. Interaction with GuestsI want my guests to feel that they are fully living in and experiencing this historic home during their stay. I have a separate living space. On occasion, I do not even meet my guests, for example if they check in late and leave early the next day. I am lucky to have excellent guests, and though I want to be responsive to their needs, I also want them to comfortably and privately enjoy this unique, serene environment. The NeighborhoodThis home, called "The Lakey House," is located in the historic Nelson Neighborhood of Muskegon, across the street and a few doors down from the Hackley and Hume Homes museum. A previous resident of this Italianate, 1875-era building was Mr. Lakey, who owned and managed the old Lakey Foundry, situated on Muskegon Lake. The house is located within walking distance of downtown, which is re-emerging as a thriving area of restaurants, shops and businesses. Following the hey-days of 19th century lumber barons and the industrial wave of the 20th century, a new period of growth is happening in Muskegon. A maker's space is under development, and there is a cool culinary arts school. The shoreline which was once devoted primarily to industry is being opened to public access and converted to natural space. Because Muskegon is a deep-water port, it is perfect as the Michigan connection for the Lake Express from Milwaukee and new host to cruise ships touring the Great Lakes. For fun, check out our micro-breweries at Pigeon Hill and Unruly Brewing, gourmet cheese at The Cheese Lady, antiques at The Front Porch, and the various shops and items within the Century Club building (my favorite being Stormy Kromer, a unique line of beautifully made lumberjack-type clothing). A large fresh food market is open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. We have a great Indian restaurant, The Curry Kitchen. There is a bike rental shop just down the block and a bike trail just two more blocks away that will take you to the Lakeside Neighborhood and Pere Marquette Beach on Lake Michigan as well as out across the Muskegon River flats for some excellent birding. In addition to these walking distance amenities, there are wonderful activities to enjoy within 10-20 minutes by car, including visiting our beautiful beaches, hiking, boating, and much more. Welcome to the Port City!
