We like to provide our guest with as much help and information as possible The NeighborhoodMuskoka, Canada located 1-1/2 hours north of Toronto is a vast district of 1600 shimmering lakes, thundering waterfalls and sheer granite cliffs, aromatic pine forests and dense maple forests that turn crimson and gold in the Autumn...all wrapped in pure clean air from way above sea level, in some places 1296 ft. The 2500 square miles called Muskoka District is the size of a small European country and is flanked on the North by the world famous untouched wilderness of Algonquin Provincial Park and on the west by rugged Georgian Bay, the way to the Great Lakes and the Ocean. Our cottage is situated on Lake Muskoka in the Muskoka Lakes Township which contains the jewels of Muskoka, Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau and Lake Joseph, large interconnecting bodies of water in some places over 300 feet deep. We are right on Lake Muskoka. Our lovely Muskoka home is located about 5 kms from the picturesque town of Bala where you will find shops, restaurants and all facilities. The towns of Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville are in close driving distance from our cottage, all offering local amenities and crafts. But, overall, the region is extremly peaceful with abundant wild life awaiting you. It's definitely one of a kind experience! Don’t miss the opportunity to see typical Ontario wetlands, best seen from local conservation areas with extensive walking trails where you will be walking on the Canadian Shield overlooking lakes and meadows full of wildlife. Best times are of course early morning or early evening, but it’s good at all times. Look out for rare cranes, beavers, bears, foxes, turtles and frogs! Torrance Barrens is also home to the only Ontario “Night Sky Park”. The lake is well known for great fishing (both from the water and from our dock). Some of Ontario's finest golf courses are located in Muskoka minutes away from our house by car or boat. Summers are the time for markets, craft fairs and festivals in Muskoka. Every town has a farmer's market once a week and the Parry Sound Music Festival and the Muskoka Arts Festival are outstanding. Getting AroundCar is recommended There is some bus service between Gravenhurst and Toronto Other Things to NoteDuring July and August, the cottage is available for a minimum of 7 nights starting on Saturday at 3 p.m. and ending following Saturday at 10:30 a.m. (unless otherwise arranged) During the shoulder season May 15-Jun 13 and Sep. 14 to Nov. 1) we have a minimum of three nights.
