The SpaceThis is a wonderful and rich historic property, with the main home, a Queen Anne Victorian, built by the Gabbert family. The spacious cottage is"very Parisian" according to guests. it is very whimsical, romantic, and alluring with it’s hand painted faux interior, all vintage antiques décor, extremely comfy lasagna style layered queen bed; a firm futon as its base, then, a 4 inch memory foam mattress, finally topped with a vintage feather bed! I've chosen much vintage bedding and towels, as the quality is so superior to the latest microfiber dreck! It also has a bit of a wild west flavor with some very rustic elements, creating a shabby chic ambience. There is a lovely covered porch replete with a swinging chair and other chairs to wile away some down time if you are not in the mood for being indoors. The kitchen has a large double size sink, college size frig, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, coffee maker, dishes and utensils, and some other disparate items. We also provide you with all eco friendly products of dish soap, both liquid and bar soap, and natural shampoo and conditioner. There is a TV and DVD player and a handful of movies, as well as WIFI, and fresh linens, ALWAYS! The 3rd bed is a full length sofa that does NOT open out into a bigger bed. Well behaved, house trained pets are most welcome with additional deposit. We too have numerous pets, so we must discuss the workings of this arrangement prior to your booking or arrival and all dogs must always be on leash. We also can happily provide you with local farm fresh organic eggs, coffee, teas, and some organic fruits for additional fees. And we offer discounts for extended stays! Guest AccessYou will be entirely self contained in your all inclusive cottage. However, we live in the big ole Queen Anne right next to you and are available most of the time (since we are working on refurbishing it), if you’ve any need or want…in terms of the grounds, you will be limited to the area just outside of your cottage, as we have many critters (we rescue), and they take priority in our limited outdoor areas, along with the fact that with refurbishing comes some mess and we've no garage. There are 2 wonderful parks just 2 and 3 blocks away for more space and enjoyment. Interaction with GuestsAs previously stated, we are right next to you in the main house, and are available to you most anytime. If you need us, just give us a ring, and we will be Johnny on the spot! Please do not knock (unless it is urgent or an emergency), as our dogs will go ballistic. The NeighborhoodWe are literally right in downtown Myrtle Creek with various shops, a few restaurants, pubs, a post office, a hardware store, and a bank. For the nature lovers, we have a beautiful creek and river, 2 covered bridges, a gorgeous park just a couple of blocks away, swimming holes and fishing spots! Some of the great nearby attractions are: the Seven Feathers Casino, Wildlife Safari, numerous wineries, waterfalls and hiking trails, Crater and Diamond Lakes, and more! Also just a bit over an hour from Eugene, an hour and a half from the coast, and some caves as well. The nearest big town (Roseburg) is about 15-20 minutes away with health food stores, more restaurants, car rentals, public transportation, etc. Getting AroundYou will most likely be in a car to get here, having either driven from your starting point or an airport or train station. The nearest bus station is Seven Feathers Casino about 10 minutes away or Roseburg about 20 minutes away and the train station is in Eugene, about 75 or so minutes away. Airports are in Grants Pass, Eugene, Medford, and Portland. They are respectively: 50 minutes, 70 minutes, 70 minutes, and 3 hours. Other Things to NoteOur town has a world war 2 vintage siren, which sounds when we have fires or accidents. PLEASE note, that our cottages are pet friendly and often have dogs, cats, etc., so if you have allergies, do NOT book! If you are staying here for an extended time, say one or more weeks, (which we highly encourage and would love) we will need to come in once a week to clean and replace your linens, etc. We will not offer fresh linens or cleaning on a daily basis (for environmental reasons), yet if once per week was not sufficient to your liking, we will be amenable to twice or thrice weekly. A $25 cleaning fee will apply to these scenarios.
