The SpaceAfter many years of designing and building this unique maritime sea-side cottage we are finally offering it to AirBnB travelers. This is a nature-filled getaway location -- bordered by nature preserves and a tranquil salt water cove. Our 4-acre site is frequented by deer, rabbits, chipmunks, woodchucks, foxes and myriad of birds. Enjoy the private field stone patio and view cove-side sunsets, fireflies and skies that are never the same twice. The cottage also has a queen-size, pullout sofa downstairs. There is a spiral staircase up to a sleeping loft which features a great view in every direction and a comfy padded queen-size bed. All of the interior was handmade by a local yacht cabinet-maker and carpenter -- we personally added the maritime style and details. Very nice quality linens and toiletries are provided, a built-in bookcase library richly stocked, WIFI, cable TV and a Bose ipod/iphone speaker. Rain or shine or snow, we are sure you will enjoy this cozy cottage by the sea! Guest AccessThere are 3 cottages on the 4-acres and each has its own gas grill, tiki torches, patio furniture and other equipment. We ask guests to respect others privacy and personal belongings and not take boats, bicycles or furniture without permission from the manager Sandy who will greet you upon arrival. Interaction with GuestsEither we or our property manager will personally meet each guest and answer questions about the cottage and the area. We are all local people and know where to eat, about all of the great local museums and attractions, farmer's markets, etc. The manager will be on call if anything arises! The other 2 cottages are usually very quiet and my one long term tenant is rarely there except in the evenings during the week. The other cozy cottage is used by our family and sometimes other Airbnb visitors. The NeighborhoodIdeally located, our property is within 1-5 miles of The Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium, the quaint little Mystic Amtrak Train Station (that runs to and from Boston and NYC), Mystic Schooner Cruises, historic downtown Mystic (shopping, drawbridge, river walk, art galleries, restaurants), Olde Mistick Village (outdoor shops, boutiques, cafés), historic Stonington Village (boutiques, cafés, lighthouse museum, the Captain Nathaniel Palmer house, local fishing fleet and town docks). Just 15 minutes north off I-95 there's also Foxwoods Casino, the Rhode Island State Beaches and shoreline. Just over the state border is Watch Hill, RI, featuring East Beach, Napa Tree Beach, The Ocean House Hotel and Residences, boutiques, restaurants and more! Getting AroundDowntown Mystic is only 5 minutes away and easy to reach via bicycle or car. Once parked, all of Mystic's shops, businesses, galleries and restaurants are accessible by foot. There are nice green spaces to enjoy on both sides of the Mystic river complete with public restrooms and handicapped access ramps. Other Things to NoteWe just ask all our guests that you leave whatever you use as you found it:)

The SpaceOur home is located in the heart of Historic Mystic between the Mystic Museum of Art and Captain Daniel Packer Inn and is within easy walking distance to all Downtown Mystic restaurants, shops and attractions. Our historic 2-bedroom home offers both late 19th century charm and 21st century convenience. It is fully furnished and decorated with an eclectic collection of Americana, period pieces, folk art, curiosities and other items of local interest. The doors are a bit crooked, the floors slant and the glass in most of the windows is wavy. But you will also find an electronic entry system, High-speed internet access, Wi-Fi, HDTV and state-of the art heating and A/C. On the main floor you will enjoy a fully appointed galley kitchen equipped with a range/oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and microwave oven. You will also find a coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, dishes and cooking/eating utensils. There is generous seating in both the dining and living room areas together with remotely controlled lighting and ceiling fans. Bedrooms and bathroom are located on the second floor where you will also find a cozy reading nook with its own great view of the Mystic River. Both bedrooms have queen size beds, a comfortable sitting area, dresser drawers with full size mirrors and plenty of closet space. Additional sleeping accommodation can also be found in the living room on a queen size sofa bed. The bathroom includes a full-size tub/shower combination and custom vanity/sink. Bedding, linens and bath towels are provided for the number of guests listed in your reservation. There is a highchair in the kitchen, a Pack and Play crib in the rear bedroom, a crate of juvenile toys in the reading nook and plenty of books, books and more books. The elevated front veranda offers an awesome view of the Mystic River and is a great place for people watching. There is a large rear deck with table, chairs and gas grill right at the foot of historic St. Jago Ledge if you prefer a more intimate setting. We provide on-site parking for two vehicles or a vehicle with a modest boat trailer. There is a public boat launch less than a minute's walk from the front door and transient dockage at Downtown Mystic Marina directly across the street . Mystic is a unique New England village straddling the Mystic River. The portion of the village on the right (west) bank was originally known as Mystic River and is part of the town of Groton CT. The left bank was originally known as Mystic Bridge and is a part of the town of Stonington CT. Downtown Mystic River is comprised of Water Street, West Main Street, Pearl Street and Gravel Street. East Main Street, Holmes Street and Cottrell Street make up the Mystic Bridge side of the village. Walking is the best way to get around downtown and all of downtown is within easy walking distance from our home. In season, day and dinner cruises aboard the Argia sailing ship along the river and around Fishers Island Sound are sure to make your Mystic visit a most memorable experience. Whether you prefer walking, biking, water taxi or shuttle, you are only minutes away from restaurants, shopping, multi-denominational houses of worship, Mystic Seaport Museum and Mystic Aquarium. It is a short drive to the historic fishing village of Stonington Borough home to Capt. Palmer discoverer of Antarctica, Fort Griswold Revolutionary War battle site on the Groton Bank, Fort Trumbull that fell to an assault instigated by Benedict Arnold, Submarine Museum home of the USS Nautilus, the first nuclear powered submarine and first submarine to navigate beneath the North Pole, Bluff Point State Park, Haley Farm State park, Barn Island Wildlife Preserve, Watch Hill RI and some of the best ocean beaches on the Atlantic coast. And yes, it is but a short drive to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos. Our property is a short 5-minute drive from I-95 Exit 89. The route through downtown from Exit 90 will take a bit longer but is probably worth the extra time for a first time visitors eager to take a driving tour through our little village. T.F. Green International (Providence/Warwick RI) is about a 45-minute drive; Bradley International Airport (Hartford/Springfield) is approximately a 1hr 20m drive; Logan International (Boston) is only a 2hr drive. If you're coming by train to New London you'll have a 15-minute drive; By train to Westerly RI it's about a 25-minute drive; If you take the train to Mystic Depot you'll have a 10-minute walk from the depot to the property but it will undoubtedly take a bit longer as you take in the sites of this historic village.

The SpaceIt is simply one of a kind and charming, charming, charming. Bedroom, beautiful bathroom, sitting area and desk area. Guest AccessThe whole upstairs of the house. Interaction with GuestsAs much or as little as they prefer. The NeighborhoodThat I am so close the heart of the village, but have privacy and live on a quiet little street. That I can walk to downtown and do a lot! I have great neighbors! Getting AroundThere is public transportation, but I think most people rent a car to explore this area, unless they are just coming to Mystic for the weekend and want to stay in town. The train station is about a half mile away. Other Things to NoteThere is enough space upstairs for a blowup bed so I would be willing to discuss that possibility if necessary. Pricing would change, however.
