The SpaceRich with rustic charm, this haven oozes plenty of character with a lovely sense of home. Sitting in a quiet, leafy street, it is ideally positioned for everything : transport, delicious eateries plus the local shops of Marrickville and Newtown. With comfortable couches and dining table and all my friends' art on the walls, the living space is very practical whilst being simple and attractive. The front double bedroom upstairs has french doors that open onto a private balcony with tree orchids and Queen of the Night moon lilies. The back 'treehouse' bedroom upstairs has early morning light and overlooks a garden canopy of beautiful trees and bird life. There are 2 extremely comfortable sofas in the lounge room that can be 2 single beds or moved into a double bed overnight. The rear garden is a delight providing an idyllic rainforest sanctuary to entertain or unwind in privacy. Placed opposite a lovely leafy park, it is within walking distance to City buses, two train stations and King Street with Sydney Park, the Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre plus Erskineville village just minutes away. Guest AccessYou are welcome to use the whole house, including al fresco dining in the lush rainforest back garden. The kitchen is small but cooking with gas and you are welcome to cook. Access to the bathroom is outside the back door but still undercover, so it overlooks the garden. Interaction with GuestsI know Sydney very well so can help out with tips on your interests. The NeighborhoodMy place is in an area called the Inner West, so its a built up area, but close to the city and has a great inner city community feel. You can see the whole spectrum of Sydney people around you, with city workers, students, artists, musicians, and plenty of people from various liberal persuasions. There are a few parks close by, a huge variety of remedial massage and new local craft beer breweries all around. Getting AroundIt is a 5 min walk to the Newtown and St Peters Train Stations, and buses to everywhere including the Sydney beaches. Its great to just walk around the suburb as it is full of fashion, bricabrac, op shops and vintage shops, as well as different architecture, graffitti art and local buskers. Other Things to NoteI live in a terrace with a very steep stairwell up to the bedrooms, so if you have problems with stairs in any way, this may not be the best place for you.

As a comparison, the local hostel charges $210pw per person in a shared 6 person dorm room and $420 min for a couple. If this is more what you're after let me know and I can give you the details but if you do stay, please respect our space, friendliness and convenience of the location and understand the price reflects the age of the house.

The SpaceThis listing is in a gated block of flats with a small number of friendly neighbours. It is tucked away and a good place for a rest, but still close to everything you could want. It's a great place to spend a day lying back and reading, looking up at sunlight filtering through the trees while being in a completely private space. Friends who come to visit often comment on how "cozy" and "homey" it feels to be here. Guest AccessThe entire studio will be accessible, as well as a shared washing machine and private mini-courtyard. Interaction with GuestsI will be away, but my friend Alex lives just up the road and will help facilitate while I'm gone, and we can both be reached via text. If you're looking for things to do or places to check out, I am happy to give recommendations anytime! The neighbours in this block of flats are also quite friendly and will probably greet you as they pass by. The NeighborhoodThis area is incredibly diverse and vibrant. There is always something interesting going on nearby, there is lots of good food in easy walking distance (see the guidebook for ideas), and a lot of it is also very affordable. It's generally pretty safe all hours of the day and night. There are a lot of friendly and community-minded people here, as well as people with a wide diversity of views and lifestyles. Newtown might be changing, but it's still alive! Getting AroundKing St. and Enmore Rd. are both about a 5 minute walk away, with lots of great food and shops right at your fingertips. General shopping needs can be taken care of at the Marrickville Metro, which is also about a 5 minute walk away. Busses to CBD and Coogee Beach are also about 5 minutes' walk, and there are two train stations (Newtown and St Peters) which are about 15 minutes' walk from here. Other Things to NoteI should note that the shower door has been having problems for some time and may not be suitable for people with physical disabilities. It is in pretty bad shape. This flat is on the ground floor, so those with heavy luggage won't have to worry about climbing flights of stairs, but there are a few (4) steps to get past on the way in. It may look like there should be a working buzzer here, and some neighbours seem to have working buzzers, but the buzzer for my flat does not work at all. I do not own a cat, but my neighbour does, and this cat sometimes comes and hangs out with me inside. If you are allergic to cats, please take note of this.

Washing machine is available to guests as is clothes lines in our spacious and lush backyard. Kitchen is fully equipped, with ample fridge space (no freezer). Guest AccessGuests have full access to the amenities of the house, including kitchen, bathroom, garden, front porch, and living area (sofas, television, coffee table). Interaction with GuestsI will be staying with family for a couple of weeks two suburbs over, so I will be very close to the property at all times if any issues should arise. My schedule is very flexible with respect to checking in / out, but if I am indisposed at any time I can organise one of my beautiful housemates to hand over keys etc. The NeighborhoodNewtown is perhaps the most vibrant and diverse suburb in inner Sydney. There are live theatres, concert halls, cocktail bars, dive bars, historic pubs, michelin hatted restaurants, every style of cuisine and dozens of cafes all within a ten minute walk of our house. Our property is also a 30 second walk from beautiful Camperdown park, perhaps the most vibrant, social and picturesque space in the inner west. Though King St. stays open almost 24 hours during weekends, our house is tucked far enough away to have zero noise pollution and minimal foot and street traffic. Getting AroundWe are also located a 3 minute walk from Newtown station (2 stops away from the CBD), and 2 minutes from the main transport artery of King st, where you can get a bus to the CBD every 7 minutes. Essentially everything inner Sydney has to offer is less than half an hour away by walk, train or bus. The 370 bus from King will take you to beautiful Coogee beach in half an hour, or you can change train lines once to be at Bondi Junction in the same time. The inner west also has some of Sydney's best cycleways, and there is ample room to safely lock bicycles out front of the house or to keep them in the backyard. This room is ideal for either a single or couple to explore the best of what Sydney has to offer at the most exciting time of year. Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions! Other Things to NoteJust quick rundown of Sydney attractions and travel times! Bondi Beach (20 mins train/bus, 40 min cycle) CBD (10 min train/bus, 15 min cycle, 30 min walk) Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge (10 mins) Botanical Gardens (10 mins train) Sydney Tower (10 mins) Luna Park (15 mins) Centennial Park (10 mins) Glebe Markets (7 mins) Everleigh markets (walking distance) Paddington Markets (10 mins) Marrickville Markets (10 mins) Redfern Markets (5 mins) And if you're here especially for NYE, you will be able to get transport to and from the fireworks at Darling Harbour, Cockatoo Island, Milsen's Point or Birchgrove at any time of new years eve or new years day! Also if you fancy taking part in the festivities after the fireworks, Newtown would undoubtedly be the best place in the city to go for a drink and a dance, with no lockout, friendly and vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly a 1 min walk home!

The SpaceLarge modern, bright apartment in the heart of Newtown. This is a 1brm apartment but I have a queen size air mattress that can be added to the living area to accommodate 2 extra people if required. There is space to accommodate the mattress behind the couch so it is not in the way of the main living area. Guest AccessLaundry facilities and parking Interaction with GuestsI will usually be away while guests are occupying the apartment but I am always on call (air bnb, email or on my mobile) and I have very reliable help nearby who has a spare key for emergencies etc. The NeighborhoodI love living in Newtown!! Clothing stores, gelato, cinemas, restaurants, bars, live music and more! There is a lot of fun to be had. I am close to the city, but to be honest you have everything you need in walking distance. It caters to all budgets and the weekends are very busy as Newtown is a suburb that a lot of Sydneysiders like to frequent. Its the only suburb in Sydney that McDonald's doesn't have a store in and probably will never be allowed to have a store in. Sydney University and The RPA hospital are close by. During uni semesters, especially at the start of the year, some pubs can be very rowdy with a lot of students making the most of the social scene in Newtown. Luckily those same Uni Students are also the reason there are a lot of cheap places to eat. Most restaurants especially the Thai restaurants do a cheap lunch special and the local pubs also do a lunch or dinner special. Getting AroundBuses are available to the city on King st which is 2 mins away. There is a train station is approximately 5 mins walk away. Takes 10 mins to get to the city by train and probably around 20 mins by bus due to the traffic. You can also catch the bus to Coogee beach on King st. Other Things to NoteThere is a park across the road and smoking is allowed outside the apartment
