Restaurants of all different flavours - Thai, Indian, Chinese, Western and fusion - are all minutes walk from the flat. Getting AroundThe Yung Shue Wan Ferry will get you to and from HK in 20 minutes. The ferry drops you off at the Central Ferry Terminal, the main ferry terminal in Hong Kong, located just seconds from IFC and Central MTR. Other Things to NotePlease note, there is no couch. There are two big floor pillows that can be used for lounging instead. The bedroom has shading, but there is definitley morning light (and singing birds) good for early risers! The SpaceWe live in this place 300 days a year with our 4 kids, our nanny and our dog. This is a beautiful house. We occupy the 3 top floors (the ground floor belongs to another tenant). On the 1st floor we have the dining room (also a living room), the kitchen, 2 bath rooms, 1 single bed room. On the 2nd floor we have a large living / reading room, 3 bed rooms, 2 bathroom and an access to the roof top (with barbecue, large umbrella, dining table and chairs). Guest AccessTo come to our home, you need to catch a ferry for Lamma Island (from Central ferry pier number 4, 5 mins walk away from the Airport Express train station). The ferry ride lasts 20 mins. The ferry will bring you to the main village on the island. It is called Yung Shue Wan. You then need to walk up the hill to our village (15 mins max), called Tai Peng Old village. This is a small and quiet village with friendly neighbours. The house faces a banana trees field and a nice botanical garden maintained by our beautiful neighbours. Interaction with GuestsIf we're renting our home, it's because we're out of town for holidays... but we'll have our phone 24/7 and we'll check emails often. The NeighborhoodThe area is very quiet. We sometimes have small wild bores visiting our back yard and small frogs coming up our staircase. We do not have any sea view, but we are pretty much surrounded by the jungle and have no direct view onto any of our neighbours houses and windows. We have this electricity windmill at view, but far enough to not hear any noise. Our house is right on the family trail, a famous and easy going trail for families on weekend. Our place is 15 mins away from the 2 beaches the closest to the main village and 15 mins away from the ferry pier to Central. Getting AroundOnce in Central you have acess to all public transports available in Hong Kong, including metro, taxi, buses, tram etc. The ferry pier is only 5 mins away from all public transport and grocery stores. Other Things to NoteThere is a convenient store in the village and a lot more stores, restaurants (kids friendly) and bars in the main village. The ferry ride to central costs around HKD 14 dollars per adult. Depending on the time of the day, there is a ferry every hour or every 30 minutes. At night, the last ferry from Central leaves at 12:30 pm. An extra ferry is available at 2:30 am on saturdays.

The SpaceLook, let's be honest here. Lamma Island living is not for everyone. Lamma is raw. Lamma is flawed. Lamma is inconvenient. Yet, I have lived here for over 2 years and know many who's been for 10, 20+. We love it for its lush woods and vehicle free roads; we love the sound of birds in the morning, and the crickets and frogs at night; we love the smiles and greets received as you stroll through the village, we love the local eateries and pubs and the absence of large commercial establishments. If you think it could be a place for you, well, only one way to find out. Guest AccessFree reign. Just don't do anything you wouldn't want others to do in your house. Interaction with GuestsI am an architect working fulltime on Hong Kong island. I will not be around during weekdays as I rise very early and return late. You are more than welcomed to join me on my walks around the village with my dog, thursday night tapas with friends, or a glass at home. If you wish otherwise, help yourself to a hot cuppa, put a record on and enjoy some alone time!
