house
3br house
Set over 2 floors there are three spacious bedrooms, two bathrooms (one with steam room), comfortable living area, modern open plan kitchen/dining area and a glorious private garden. While the home has been fully modernised, many of the property's Victorian features remain with high ceilings, wooden floors, sash windows and a feature fireplace in the front sitting room. A few stairs lead up to the front door of the property and, once through the entry hall, there's another door to take you into the apartment. A stylish sitting room sits at the front of the house. There is a feature fireplace (with a working gas fire), designer sofa, armchair, flat screen television, antique mirror and a glass-topped coffee table. With a big bay window, the room is very bright and a great spot for relaxing after a day's sightseeing. At the back of the house is the master bedroom (king-sized bed), bedside tables and en-suite shower room. The second bedroom is beside the master bedroom and there are interconnecting doors between these 2 rooms (handy for parents). This second bedroom is perfect for a child and a cot can be brought in, upon request. It has a trundle bed and this can be pulled out and set up as a double for 2 adult guests. Both rooms have large amounts of storage space for guests. Downstairs, on the lower ground floor, is the third bedroom with 2 single beds and a flat-screen television mounted on the wall, a full length mirror and a fitted wardrobe. Rather impressively there is an en suite steam room, or you could simply use it as a very large shower! There is a separate toilet here as well. The utility room with a large sink, washer and dryer will come in handy for longer stays. At the back of the property is the open plan kitchen/dining room which is very modern and spacious. The kitchen has everything you would expect from a bespoke, high specification kitchen, including a gas hob and large American-style fridge/freezer. There is an island with stools. With another wall mounted flat-screen television and a sofa, family members can relax while cooking or enjoying their meals. There's a stylish wooden dining table and funky, colourful chairs. (The sofa in this room pulls out into a double bed to provide sleeping for a further two guests, upon request). Large glass doors open out from the kitchen to the private garden. There is a well-finished patio area with a garden table and chairs - perfect for alfresco dining during the summer months - and there are gas heaters for when the weather is cooler. The garden also benefits from a BBQ. Beyond the patio is an immaculate lawn Additional amenities include: coffee maker, hob, normal TV, hi-fi stereo, plates and cutlery, ironing board, glasses. The security deposit is refundable at the end of the stay. Located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. With many of its homes dating from the 19th century or earlier, it is an intimate and friendly area there are neighbourhood restaurants, pubs, cafes and delis all within a 5 minute walk. For shopping on a grand scale, the huge Westfield Shopping Mall is also just a 10 minute walk. One of Europe’s biggest shopping experiences, you'll find a world ranking collection of designer shops, more than 40 restaurants (including a food hall) and several cinemas. High Street Kensington, with its boutiques, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets (including a brilliant Wholefoods) and another cinema is just a 10 minute walk to the east. Holland Park with its green open space is also a 10 minute walk and you can reach the edge of Notting Hill within around 10 minutes too, and walk on further to the famous Portobello Road. Try a walk along the north bank of the River Thames, where the annual Oxford v Cambridge boat race is rowed and you'll find many of London's famous pubs. The Apollo Theatre Hammersmith, is famous for pop concerts and comedy shows with many 'big name' acts. Or, for something unusual, go to Shepherds Bush Market to see a demonstration of London's ethnic diversity, with stall holders, vegetables and provisions from all corners of the world. Business travellers may be attending exhibitions at the Kensington Olympia Exhibition Centre (3 min walk) or Earl's Court Exhibition Centre (10 min walk). The SpaceThis is a modern 1950's terraced house close to transport and the trendy area of Balham in South London (High Street 7-10 mins walk). You have your choice of pubs, bars, restaurants of all types and price ranges. Major supermarkets are available and a Farmer's Market is available every Saturday from 10-2pm. Seascape is our favourite for Fish and Chips but don't take our word for it. Wandsworth Common train station is 5 minutes walk and can get you to Victoria station in 20 mins or change at Clapham Junction (one stop away) for access to other parts of Central London (Waterloo) or points South (Wimbledon, Brighton, Richmond etc). Balham Underground (Northern Line) is 7-10 mins walk on the High Street to get you onto the extensive network into and around London. Gatwick airport is easily accessed by train with regular services getting you there in 40-50mins. There is another small single bedroom which we could make available for an additional price, if you want or need it. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available by email, text or phone. Just a slight 9 hour timezone difference :-) The NeighborhoodThere is excellent access to large green commons (parks) at the end of the street. The Hope Pub on Wandsworth Common has an excellent kitchen with small bites or main meals. Great beers and cocktails as well. You can take your drinks onto the Common on sunny days (good luck) and they will supply plastic glasses for that. The Michelin starred Chez Bruce is on that side as well - booking lunch is usually available but dinner has a two month waiting list (last time I checked). Lots of cafes are there as well. Getting AroundYou can get to Wandsworth Common train (turn left out the front door) in about 5 mins which takes you into Central London with a direct train to Victoria (20mins). Change at Clapham Junction (one stop) for other destinations. Balham tube/underground is 7-10mins (turn right out the front door) which is located on the High Street and within the vibrant Balham scene. Other Things to NoteBuster, your host, should be friendly enough once he gets used to you. He likes a good tummy rub or scratch behind the ears and head. He likes the garden so comes and goes quite frequently and does his business outside. He just requires his food bowl to be filled occasionally and fresh water in his bowl.

The SpaceBuilt in the 1890s, our Victorian terrace building is beautiful and inviting. It's set back from the road, with its own private entrance. We share a front door with our neighbours and a main stairwell. You will find our flat on the first floor. We have a few original features like large wooden sash windows, and an old fireplace (no longer in use). Our street is residential, and full of professional couples and young families. It's quiet and relaxing, which is a rare find so close to a tube station! We are also set between two green spaces - Wandsworth Common and Tooting Common. Wandsworth Common is a 5 minute stroll away, offering lots of space for a walk or run - and is bordered by nice pubs, bars and shops. Guest AccessOur flat is a small one bedroom flat that we call home. Like most London homes, storage is limited - however we will provide a rail for hanging clothes and two spacious chest of drawers. The kitchen is for breakfast only - and there will be space in the fridge for milk! We do ask that you remove your shoes before you enter the flat, and maybe bring some slippers with you please as we have light carpets! Interaction with GuestsWhen you arrive, Lou will give you the keys and show you around. She will be a phone call away throughout your stay. All questions, at any time, are welcomed - we will do our best to help you and ensure that you have a wonderful stay at our home. The NeighborhoodIn 2014, the Sunday Times listed Balham as one of the best places to live in Britain. We absolutely love our life here, it's close to central London but offers a more relaxed pace to enjoy evenings and weekends. There are amazing cafés and restaurants a short walk away, our favourites include; outside the tube station is The Balham Kitchen for on-the-go breakfast chapatis (Lou's got a Saturday job here!), M1lk for ridiculously good coffee and brunch, Brickwood for more coffee, Balham Bowls Club for really good pub grub, The Rookery for the best Sunday roast, and the new Chicken & Egg Shop run by the Soho House group for an easy dinner. If you are a real foodie like us, book dinner at The Dairy in Clapham (at least a few weeks in advance) - it is not to be missed. Clapham is a 25 minute walk or 10 min bus ride away, it is filled with restaurants, bars and a few clubs if you fancy a dance. A sister café to our favourite local M1lk, Fields cafe can be found on Clapham Common. For pretty shops and bakeries, Northcote Road is a great walk - and leads to Clapham Junction station which can take you to so many places! Take a 15 min bus to Brixton and enjoy the cluster of amazing food spots in Brixton Market (the original Franco Manca pizza and Honest Burger started here), or watch a film at the iconic Ritzy cinema. If you want to make the most out of your stay, please do not hesitate to ask us for tips! Getting AroundWe are ideally located for trains to/from Gatwick airport, with one change at nearby Clapham Junction station. Balham station is 5 mins walk away. It has both an underground station (on the Northern line) and an overground station. You can get to Victoria station in 15 minutes. Buses are everywhere and frequent, the nearest bus stop is at the end of our road. We also like to use Uber - and it seems there are always several available in our area! Other Things to NoteOur flat is nestled between flats either side, above and below. This ensures it is warm in winter and cool in summer. However, it also means that from time to time - you might hear our neighbours. Our upstairs neighbour has a funny toilet flush, which is not silent - you may or may not notice this. Keep our bathroom door closed and the noise will be minimised! Our shower is old school, and you will have to stand in the bathtub! Our bed is slightly creaky, but is a spacious king-size and we use nice bedding. We have a drop-leaf dining table, but rarely use it and would request that you use it very carefully as it is quite delicate!
