Home, James Coach houses were a common sight in horse-drawn London, when ladies would betake themselves to the park, there to ride about and admire each other’s phaetons. The carriage may have taken its leave of Altenburg Gardens, but the elegance and class lingers on. A cosy coach house just a canter from the Common, this home makes the sweetest crash pad. Its ivied courtyard is quaint and cheerful, its sitting room gorgeously furnished, while bedroom skylights let you stargaze yourself to slumber. Round the corner you’ll find the shops and eateries of Lavender Hill, and handy Clapham Junction station. No need to hail a cab… Coachman An American couple, your hosts mainly live in Bath. He is a successful photographer who once worked for Private Eye, she a happily retired schoolteacher. Altenburg Gardens is their pied-à-terre when calling on their two grown-up daughters. High society You can still imagine the carriages riding gallantly along this beautiful Victorian street. Open the front door, step through the bright hallway and into the vivacious sitting room. Mirrors and artwork adorn the walls, light streams through patio doors and an ornate coffee table stands upon a Persian rug. Nestle deeply into a sofa, or steal out into the flowery courtyard. Pint-sized yet picturesque, you’ve a garden table and chairs as well as a barbecue for those dinner parties. A stylish dining table perches in a nook of the sitting room, under spotlights and jazzy feature wallpaper, while round the corner you’ll find the kitchen. Hop upstairs for the master bedroom. Elegant in white and brightly lit through tall skylights, all is sweetly serene. Plump cushions rest upon its king bed, while next door you’ve a sumptuous ensuite bathroom, stocked with the fluffiest of white towels. Cart before the horse The rolling turf of Clapham Common is to be discovered just at the end of your road, or you can stroll the other way for the shops and eateries flanking Lavender Hill. Nose around Northcote Road Market for vintage clothes and the freshest vegetables, dine in style at Chez Bruce or just sweep straight into town. The tube from Clapham Common to Oxford Circus takes a little over fifteen minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges. The SpaceAritst's home, unique old converted victorian warehouse with an alleyway garden featured in the Nov issue of Gardens Illustrated. Super cool vibe , best location in London for transport, 5 mins walk from Clapham Junction British rail which is on mainline to Gatwick ( a 35 mins journey ). Often used for video and photographic shoots .... its like Harry Potter meets Rumi, east meets west ! Northcote road only 1 min. walk, cafes, bars, shops, a wonderful selection of resurants and world cuisines to be tempted by and a great Saturday market. It is in its own bubble, set off the main road and is a secret gem. It's totally fab as you walk through a tropical garden of Banana plants, palm trees and flowering ginger plants. You might forget where you are in the world! There is a massive open plan spacious sunny loft room (more like your own flat except there is a shared modern kitchen which you walk through) with a double (futon) bed and open wood fire place with an en-suite bathroom, larger walk in wetroom shower on lower floor (extremely easy access). The double (futon) bed is elevated on a wooden deck giving an extremely heavenly like touch, THIS IS A TOTALY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. Slightly more elevated above this bed is a smaller single bed so can easily fit 3 people in this space altogether. The room is more like a large flat than a room. Huge flatscreen HD TV is avaliable with PS3 and many games and large mixed genre DVD/BLU-RAY collection if needed. My style is very rustic with newly refurbished modern touches, very boho chic with a spiritual slant. Organic breakfast can happily be provided (if ordered in advance), all vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers are all invited as I am a fantasic cook in all areas! If weather permits breakfast can be served on a very moroccan style roof deck surrounded by fabulous plants, olive trees swaying grasses and silver willows. We are not overlooked except by British Airways and migrating swallows!

The SpaceModern newly refurbished garden flat in Battersea, 20 mins' walk to King's Rd. This is the perfect place to stay while visiting London. This double bedroom is right at the back of the flat, opening out onto the patio garden. It is cosy and quiet - ideal for anyone wanting peace and privacy. It is particularly suited to the single person who needs a room from anything from 1 night to 3 weeks. Two people sharing are welcome too but the room and bed are quite cosy so I usually recommend a maximum of 3 nights for two people wishing to stay. Just 50 metres from the property you will find Battersea Park, which is considered by many to be one of the most interesting of all the parks in London. Here you will find a wide range of sporting facilities, a lake, cafes, sculptures and specialist gardens. Also close by are a variety of pubs and restaurants, plus a local sports centre. Full continental breakfast can be provided if arranged in advance, but there is a charge of 5GBP per person per day. There are also two cafes (one Italian and one French) within 5 minutes' walk that offer an excellent breakfast. Must like dogs happy elderly dogs - there are two: a black lab and a Jack Russell terrier!! If you have any questions please send me a message and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Many thanks! Guest AccessGuests will have access to the bathroom, kitchen and patio garden. Interaction with GuestsI am always resident in the flat during a guest's stay. During the day I work from home, but I am usually in and out. When I'm home I try to achieve a balance between being friendly and accessible to answer any questions, while also respecting guests' privacy. The NeighborhoodThe choice of pubs and restaurants offering all different types of cuisine; a haven from the hustle and bustle of tourist London; and of course Battersea Park itself and all the activities it offers. Getting AroundI always ask a guest which airport or station they are arriving at in London, so that I can offer detailed directions to my Battersea home, whether by public or private transport. For guests with cars, I can arrange parking if given advance notice. There is a small charge (8GBP a day), but it is much cheaper and more convenient than meter parking. Near the property you will find good bus links to the Victoria and Piccadilly tube lines and to Clapham Junction. Victoria and Sloane Square tubes are also about 30 minutes' walk, at least half of that being through Battersea Park. Also, just a few minutes walk away, through the Park, you will find the Thames river and Albert Bridge, which connects Battersea to Chelsea. We have Boris' Bikes immediately across the road for people to hire for cycling round London or just a quick ride round Battersea Park. I can also call on a very reliable taxi service for guests needing transport at any hour of the day or night.

They all have wardrobe/drawer space and some even have TV's! (Everything is thought of here). We are also redecorating some of the rooms so don't be surprised if yours has a brand new rug / mood lighting / new pillows / new bed!!! We have wonderful little dogs that live downstairs and are hypoallergenic (I am allergic to cats), although they are in the lounge they are kept out of other communal areas which are hair and smell free. See pics here clapha(URL HIDDEN) There are rooms let out on upper floors to young professionals, so our ideal guest will be in their 20s or 30s also. If you are outside this age range or travelling with children please contact us first to discuss your booking. Thanks! Guest AccessThe guests can have full roam of the house, from the lounge with full satellite TV to fibre optic speed internet, to using the garden area or the terrace for a glass of wine or coffee or even a cigarette should they feel like it (no smoking inside sorry!) Interaction with GuestsI can interact as little or as lot as is needed, I have my own room upstairs which I use regularly too. The other housemates are a friendly bunch, all are professionals sociable but busy with their own lives and respectful of others. We are still in contact with previous BnB'ers and we catch up from time to time - some still come over! The NeighborhoodClapham Junction and Northcote Road especially is a beautiful little enclave in Zone 2, so close, only 8 minutes from Victoria or 12 minutes to Waterloo on direct services, or 1/2 an hour to Gatwick, where services run 24 hours. We have loads upon loads of restaurants bars and so on, and we're only 10 minutes also from the Kings Road in Chelsea, and we have one of London's largest parks on our doorstep! Clapham Common! Getting AroundClapham Junction station is 7 minutes walk away. Clapham Common for the Northern Line is 14 minutes walk or a 5 minute bus ride. The 35 and 37 bus routes stop 20 seconds walk from our door. You can get a direct bus from here to Brixton Shoreditch Putney and loads of other places. Another bus 149 is 10 minutes walk away and goes to Oxford Circus. Other Things to NoteFor the internet choose from Leathwaite Virgin 2G or 5G, password is sugarandspice Directions from Heathrow: get either bus 285 or 490 (or a cab) to Feltham. From Feltham you can catch a direct train to Clapham Junction (direction Waterloo, it's the first train platform you see as you walk in this very small station). Uber is £30-£40 roughly. You can get £10 off your first journey if you download it and use the code "bd7ra". This is the quickest and cheapest way and you can't go wrong. You can even use your debit or credit card if you have contactless (the wifi logo printed) on it. From Clapham Junction, if you have bags it's probably best to then get a cab. There is a taxi rank at the higher station entrance, or an Uber is £5. Or completely free if you use the code above. Take the lift upstairs to reach it. If you're happy to walk, go downstairs instead and follow "Town Centre" exit. From outside you can get a bus 35 or 37 from outside of Debenhams (big department store). You have to walk across the street from the Falcon pub, using the diagonal crosswalk. Or take either two of the square ones. You'll see the bus stop on the right side of Debenhams next to TK Maxx, next door (red shop). The bus is sometimes easier as it's an uphill walk otherwise which is not fun if you have many bags. It's only two stops though so don't get too comfortable. The stop outside my house is called "Eccles Road" which is on the other side of the main road from my street. You have to cross over - carefully and better to do at the pedestrian crossing than in the middle of the road where the bus stop is - to reach my street. My house is behind Cornish Tiger restaurant and has a green door with a number "2" on it. It's a different building to Cornish Tiger, white brick (not red) so don't get confused with the flats above the restaurant which have their own door.

Otherwise, I'm always available by message to answer any questions. The NeighborhoodSo, so much to do within walking distance. There are Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Mexican and Indian restaurants all within walking distance as well as 4 or 5 great pubs. There's even an indoor pool 150m away where you can swim for £4 a go. But Battersea Park is the real gem - 250m away from London's best park - the only one with riverside too. Lakes, cafés, woods and open spaces. Perfect for picnics if the weather is good. There's also a fantastic kids playground and adventure playground in Battersea Park. Getting AroundWhen not on public transport (details below), I always use the Uber car service and recommend it highly. If you haven't used it before, download the app and use my referral code am9sj to get £10 off your first ride. Bus stops within 50m to take you literally anywhere in London. Chelsea and South ken are walking distance anyway, but buses to Sloane Square, Victoria, Waterloo, Notting Hill, Clapham, Brixton all very easy. Other Things to NoteThere is double glazing providing good sound proofing but the road is noisy! Just imagine you're in New York! Although I have put "gym" and "pool" available they are not in the building. They are at the "Latchmere Centre" 100metres walk.

The SpaceThe traditional Victorian decor, period features and colours. A warm, English home. My house is a Victorian townhouse spread over many floors and looks a bit more like a boutique hotel than a shared home! There is lots of privacy and a choice of three bathrooms with showers all kept clean especially just for you! There is potentially a choice of bedrooms for you to pick, all of which are great sizes and come with freshly washed linen, fresh towels, and so on. They all have wardrobe/drawer space and some even have TV's! (Everything is thought of here). We are also redecorating some of the rooms so don't be surprised if yours has a brand new rug / mood lighting / new pillows / new bed!!! We have wonderful little dogs that live downstairs and are hypoallergenic (I am allergic to cats), they are kept out of communal areas which are hair and smell free. There are rooms let out on upper floors to young professionals, so our ideal guest will be in their 20s or 30s also. If you are outside this age range or travelling with children please contact us first to discuss your booking. Your bedroom/s are separate from the rest of the house on the lower ground floor. There are three double bedrooms on this floor. If you choose not to have all three then we may rent out the spare one or two rooms to others during your stay. We will keep you fully informed of what we do. We carefully vet all of our guests. The lounge and kitchen is shared with the rest of the house. Thanks! Guest AccessGuests have access to free tea, full satellite TV, free fibre optic high speex internet, peace and quiet, a cleaner that comes twice a week, the CUTEST small pet dogs, and company! Interaction with GuestsWe are always ready and able to help you find your way around the area and London in general! Getting AroundClapham Junction station is closest, with direct access to Waterloo and Victoria stations for Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the South Bank, and so on Other Things to NoteFor the internet choose from Leathwaite Virgin 2G or 5G, password is sugarandspice Directions from Heathrow: get either bus 285 or 490 (or a cab) to Feltham.

The NeighborhoodThe choice of pubs and restaurants offering all different types of cuisine; a haven from the hustle and bustle of tourist London; and of course Battersea Park itself and all the activities it offers.
