There is also a frequent bus services in the local area (including 24hr services to east and central London in approx 20 mins). LOCAL PUBS HOLLY BUSH “One of London's favourite pubs, The Holly Bush has been untouched by the ravages of time and has a captivating old-world charm. Bought from the estate of artist George Romney around 1800 it was turned into a public house and, as the headquarters of the Save Hampstead Heath Society, has played an integral part in the history of Hampstead Heath.” SPANIARDS INN “As one of London's oldest pubs, The Spaniards has earned itself a place in the history books, quite literally. Dickens immortalised it in The Pickwick Papers, and it's said that Keats wrote Ode to a Nightingale here over a claret or two. Indeed, our characterful 16th century inn is a romantic idyll in itself, with a few tales of its own to tell (Dick Turpin was apparently born here, need we say more?). A country pub in the city, we boast a garden grand enough to rival the great Heath itself, roaring fires in the winter and plenty of intriguing nooks in which to muse over our superlative drinks menu.” THE OLD WHITE BEAR “The interior has been restored to create a stylish yet informal ambience: 19th century English pine dressers, tables and the central bar, colourful tile tabletops and floor area and warm fires. Add the final ingredient of friendly, efficient service and the welcoming “home from home” feel is complete.” LANSDOWNE “When the Lansdowne’s doors first opened back in 1992, the aim was simple; to bring quality pub eating to Primrose Hill. Although no-one knew the term at the time, in 17 years that have passed, The Lansdowne has become one of the stalwarts of the gastro-pub scene. Our blackboard menu changes daily and our vibrant Mediterranean cuisine is inspired. Best of all, The Lansdowne has that unmistakable feel of something traditional; large wooden tables, high ceilings, a roaring fire in winter.” Please note that the shower & toilet area are due to be modernised in November. we can only plan modernising the studio when we have gaps. The price reflects this. OWNER Emily Bradbury the owner, previously worked in the hospitality business and understands the needs and comforts of the traveler. The room has block-out blinds so you can sleep well, a comfortable real double bed (with new mattress), a chest of drawers, chairs, and plenty of hanging space, so is perfect for one person or a couple. There is no longer a table in the room, but you are welcome to work at my dining table if you need to. Please note that the room is spacious for a bedroom; it is not a bed-sit or studio room but is large for London. Bedding and towels are supplied of course, and a hair dryer and iron are available if needed. Shampoo, shower gel etc are also available should you need them. Guest AccessYou are welcome to share all the common parts of the flat - open-plan lounge, well equipped kitchen, a sunny balcony and bathroom. I enjoy chatting over a cup of tea or glass of wine, and like to get to know my guests but it is not compulsory! I have a cat, Monty, who does not go into the guest bedroom and does not like sitting on laps, though he is otherwise sociable. As long as you are not allergic to cats, you should be fine with him. Dickens immortalized it in The Pickwick Papers, and it's said that Keats wrote Ode to a Nightingale here over a claret or two. Indeed, our characterful 16th century inn is a romantic idyll in itself, with a few tales of its own to tell (Dick Turpin was apparently born here, need we say more?). A country pub in the city, we boast a garden grand enough to rival the great Heath itself, roaring fires in the winter and plenty of intriguing nooks in which to muse over our superlative drinks menu.” THE OLD WHITE BEAR “The interior has been restored to create a stylish yet informal ambiance: 19th century English pine dressers, tables and the central bar, colorful tile tabletops and floor area and warm fires. Best of all, The Lansdowne has that unmistakable feel of something traditional; large wooden tables, high ceilings, a roaring fire in winter.” OWNER Emily Bradbury the owner, previously worked in the hospitality business and understands the needs and comforts of the traveler. You're just a few minutes' walk from the excitement of Camden Town, the charm of Primrose Hill and the delights of Hampstead Heath - so shops, restaurants, green space and night life are all close by; but the street where this apartment is situated is quiet. However, the apartment will sleep 4 guests comfortably in 2 double beds (and a travel cot is available for babies so the apartment can sleep 5 if necessary). The street is a residential street with mainly Victorian buildings (see the picture of the front of the house). It's generally quiet and is effectively a "no through road" for traffic, which generally drives up the nearby main road. For short stays (up to 3 weeks) we can supply a cleaner during your stay if you'd like one. For longer stays (more than 3 weeks) we ask that you pay for a weekly clean at £30 per week. A country pub in the city, we boast a garden grand enough to rival the great Heath itself, roaring fires in the winter and plenty of intriguing nooks in which to muse over our superlative drinks menu.” THE OLD WHITE BEAR “The interior has been restored to create a stylish yet informal ambiance: 19th century English pine dressers, tables and the central bar, colourful tile tabletops and floor area and warm fires. Best of all, The Lansdowne has that unmistakable feel of something traditional; large wooden tables, high ceilings, a roaring fire in winter.” OWNER Emily Bradbury the owner, previously worked in the hospitality business and understands the needs and comforts of the traveler. The SpaceThe five rooms in the house are laid out in a row with two bedrooms toward each extremity, divided by four doors. So the double bedroom is very private and cosy for a couple. It has a lovely view onto the outdoor patio and is very quiet. Best of all, Hampstead Heath is two minutes away. It's beyond beautiful; a real natural wonderland where you'll find ancient woodlands, lakes and all manner of wildlife you won't see anywhere else in London. It's big enough to get lost in - picture postcard England right in Central London. Guest AccessPUBS Hampstead is well known for its traditional pubs, including the Holly Bush (famous for celebrities), the Spaniards Inn (established in 1585) The Flask, originally an 18th Century natural spring bottling house, The Old Bull and Bush, which was sung about by the Beatles and many more pubs. All do a great traditional Sunday roast. MUSEUMS Keats House, Fenton House, Freud Museum, Burgh House & Hampstead Museum, Kenwood House (with summer outdoor picnic concerts). HISTORY OF HAMPSTEAD The Heaths inspiring wildness and the Hampstead Village community have been a natural home to many famous artists, writers, musicians, poets and thinkers including John Keats, John Constable, William Blake, Sigmund Freud, Karl Marx, George Orwell, George Bernard Shaw, James Joyce, Ian Fleming, John Le Carre, Lord Bryon, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Charles Dickens, TS Elliot, Lucian Freud, Aldous Huxley, D H Lawrence, Henry Moore, Florence Nightingale and H G Wells. Interaction with GuestsYou will be sharing the flat with a busy professional running a fashion business (could be either one of us - get in touch to see who is away) but we're both easy going and sociable (when around). We can point you towards all the local spots if you like good coffee, Italian, Indian - whatever. You can find everything within a few minutes of Hampstead; indie cinemas, theatres, plenty of interesting little museums, great cafes, really good pubs - it's all here. We are both very friendly, passionately interested in culture of all types and enjoy meeting new people. We have lived in the area for a year and wouldn't live anywhere else in London now. We enjoy meeting new people and different cultures and welcome friendly people with the same outlook.
