The SpaceA lovely, light and airy apartment, in a fantastic central location, steeped in hisory, tucked away on a very pretty London Square, yet within easy walking distance of Covent Garden, Soho, and the West End. The British Museum is on our doorstep. The City of London is minutes away, including the historic Grays and Lincolns Inn; location of endless period dramas, the amazing John Soanes museum, Doctor Johnson's house, and so much more - really worth exploring. There's nowhere in London that's more Dickensian at Christmas time - or more beautiful in the summer time. It takes ten to fifteen minutes to walk down to the river, where you can explore some more, along the Thames paths, all the way to the Tower of London and Tate Modern in one direction, and Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the other. The area offers restaurants of every type, shops, theatres, cinemas, clubs, bars and pubs are all in close walking distance. Lambs Conduit Street, one of the most special streets in London, is two minutes away, with its own unique array of indi shops, bars and restaurants. Charles Dickens himself was once a resident of the area - he put the character Pip from Great Expectations in lodgings at Barnard's Inn, a few streets away. The apartment is on the top floor of a small, red brick, late Victorian mansion block, with a little, geranium filled balcony that overlooks the square (and also the house that pre-raphelites Dante Gabriel Rosetti and Wiliam Morris shared in 1851). It's on the fourth floor, and there isn't a lift, so be warned, although the staircase is only a small one, and I think it's worth it for the quiet, the light, and the lovely view. The apartment has travertine floors throughout, decor is cool contemporary within the period building; you'll find it spotless, clutter free, but warm and cosy too. There's one bedroom (with a very comfy double bed) that leads into a separate living room with a door that leads out onto the balcony. The kitchen is fully equipped, and fitted with cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, also running filter water. The bathroom has a bath and power shower (installed Jan '15). There's a separate WC. High speed Wifi Internet, also flat screen Sony TV complete with Virgin digital channels and TV on demand. The apartment is fairly small but well designed and has everything you need as a base to explore central London without endless expensive taxis involved - ideal for two people, although it's not out of the question to have a third person staying (with a prior discussion). There's a good quality, single air bed that's really easy to use. With its close proximity to The City, Legal district, LSE and UCL, and London hospitals the apartment is also ideal for a business trip. The block itself is extremely well cared for and peaceful. The nearest tubes are HOLBORN (3MINS WALK) Central and Picadilly line (direct from Heathrow), and CHANCERY LANE (5MINS WALK) Central line. Kings Cross St Pancrass Station is two stops on the Picadilly Line, a ten minute taxi ride, or a twenty minute walk away. The buses are endless and to everywhere! We also have a London bike hire stand in the square. The entire flat. I meet the guests, hand over the keys and give a brief user guide to the apartment. After that, I go away, and give guests all the space they need to enjoy their trip, at the same time, I stress that help, should it be necessary, is a phone call away. NB I'm always happy to be flexible with check-in and out times, if and when possible. It couldn't be more central: British Museum, Covent Garden, St Pauls Cathedral and so much more, all in walking distance. The immediate area also has its own unique array of shops, restaurants, bars and tons of London history. Public transport is excellent, Holborn tube station is five minuest away (Piccadilly and central lines) busses to everywhere, twenty-four-seven. There's also a London bike hire stand on the square. Whilst the block is late Victorian listed building, and has all the aesthetic benefits that brings, the general upkeep and facilities are all 21stC. Mount pleasant Holborn, and next door Clerkenwell are some of the most ancient areas of the city. Here, slick apartment blocks sit alongside churches that somehow survived the Great Fire of London. The residents are just as diverse, trendy advertising executives hurry past aged watchmakers, and the pubs are as likely to serve a diamond cutter as they are a cabbie. Amidst this fascinating mix sits John’s Mews with it's reassuringly neutral décor and wonderful personal twists. If you want to experience London’s history in contemporary style, this is the way to do it. Hanging out Your hosts reside in the Midlands and use John’s Mews as a southern pied-a-terre. He’s a top talent agent, so when they’re not relaxing at home, they’re scouting the London scene for the next big thing… Wall to wall Up on the second floor of a decidedly swish block, you’ll find John’s Mews light, quiet and immaculate. The open plan living space features a striking display of framed theatre programmes , and you can admire them from the deep embrace of the L shaped sofa. The kitchen’s resplendent in creamy wood and grey granite, complete with a steam oven, and, in place of a kettle, a tap dispenses your boiling water. The glass dining table seats five beneath the stern gaze of the horse and his rider, and before retiring, make sure you taste the night air from the balcony. The master bedroom is restful and neutral with a smart en suite, while those in the twin bedroom next door have their own, family bathroom across the hall; both, naturally, filled with our delicious White Company toiletries. Picture perfect With its cobbled alleyways and sunny squares, this area is made for walking. Drink beneath the lights that loop across Exmouth Market, sample Michelin starred dishes at Moro and St John, or rise early and watch the butchers descend upon the meat market at Smithfield. A charming one bedroom very clean apartment located in a Victorian Mansion, with one sitting room with a double sofa bed to accommodate a child, one double room with a very comfortable double bed, a bathroom with bath and shower, a kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave and cooking facilities. My apartment is so quiet that at times I forget that I am in the heart of London. It is tucked away on one corner of the 4th floor which makes it very bright and quiet. There are plenty of windows as you can see from the pictures. Please bear in mind that there is no lift.It is located near a garden Square and at the back there is a lovely courtyard with no traffic access. It is just a 3 minutes walking distance from Holborn Station or just 2 minutes away for the nearest bus stop should you wish to travel by bus. I barely use public transport as everything is walking distance. British Museum 8 mins, Covent Garden15 mins, Trafalgar 20 mins, Oxford Street 10 mins, Soho 13 mins. Leicester Square 15 minutes. If you are here to explore London this is the right choice. We are also extremely close to the legal hub of London. Originally this Mansion was built to accommodate the Barristers working in London during the week who would go back to their family country home at the weekend. The block was originally built on the grounds of Gray's Inn. One of the three Inns of Court in London. The other two are Lincoln's Inn and Inner and Middle Temple. This apartment is ideal if you wish to stay just a week or a month. I have been living here permanently for 16 years this July and I still love it. It is ideal for a single person, for a couple and even -for a week or two - if you have a child as there is a double sofa bed in the living room. Even though the flat could accommodate 4 adults I do not advertise it as such because if you use the living room as another bedroom it will leave only the kitchen as a communal area and the kitchen is not big enough for that. It will be my pleasure to meet you when you arrive and when you leave and I will also always be contactable by mobile or email should you wish to speak to me during your stay or before you book or arrive. Unfortunately I do not have any reviews to address any possible concerns you might have but I assure you that if you stay here you will not regret it, on the contrary you will love it. I am afraid but no pets are permitted and no smoking in the flat nor communal areas is allowed and please be respectful towards our neighbours. A charming one bedroom bright, quiet very special apartment in the real heart of London just a stone's trow away from Covent Garden, Oxford Street, The City of London, Soho, Leicester Square, London School of Economics, The British Museum and most of the London Theatres Give me a chance and you will not regret it, on the contrary you will be very happy!!!

Not a jot It may sit between the British Museum and the mighty skyscrapers of the City, but it’s the littler landmarks that set Lambs Conduit Street apart. From the knitted blinds in the bedroom to the sitting room’s blue-panelled feature wall, this airy home wants a closer look. There’s a Japanese touch to the suede and wood wardrobe, while the leather armchairs are vintage suave. And so cosy is the balcony’s table and twin chairs, you’ll forget how close you sit to Oxford Street and the buzzy West End. Little by little Semi-retired, work is just one tiny detail in your host’s life. A lovely, light and airy apartment, in a fantastic central location, that's steeped in hisory, tucked away on a very pretty London Square, yet within easy walking distance of Covent Garden, Soho, and the West End. The City of London is minutes away, including the historic Grays Inn, and Lincolns Inn; location of endless period dramas, the amazing John Soanes museum, Doctor Johnson's house, and so much more - really worth exploring. There's nowhere in London that's more Dickensian at Christmas, or more beautiful in the summer time. The British Museum is right on our doorstep, Lambs Conduit Street, one of the most special streets in London, is two minutes away, with its own unique array of shops, bars and restaurants. The apartment is on the top floor of a small, red brick, late Victorian mansion block, with a little balcony that overlooks the square (and also the house that pre-raphelites Dante Gabriel Rosetti and Wiliam Morris shared in 1851). It's on the fourth floor, and there isn't a lift, so be warned, although the staircase is only a small one, and I think it's worth it for the quiet, the light, and the lovely view. The apartment has travertine floors throughout, decor is cool contemporary within the period building; you'll find it spotless, clutter free, but cosy and warm too. There's one bedroom (with a very comfy double bed) that leads into a separate living room with a door that leads out onto the balcony. The kitchen is fully equiped, and fitted with cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine. Bathroom with a bath, and power shower. There's a separate loo. High speed Wifi Internet, also flat screen Sony TV complete with Virgin digital channels and TV on demand. The apartment is fairly small but well designed and has everything you need as a base to explore central London without endless expensive taxis involved - ideal for two people, although it's not out of the question to have a third person staying (to be discussed in advance). There's a good quality air bed that's really easy to use. With its close proximity to The City, Inns of Court, LSE and UCL, and London hospitals the apartment is also ideal for a business or academic trip. The block itself is extremely well cared for and peaceful. It is a grade one listed building, and has all the esthetic values that brings, however, the upkeep and general maintainance is decidedly 21st Century. The nearest tubes are HOLBORN (3MINS WALK) Central and Picadilly line (direct from Heathrow), and CHANCERY LANE (5MINS WALK) Central line. The buses are endless and to everywhere! The square also has its own London bike hire rank. FYI - I'm new to HOLIDAYLETTINGS but these are some of the reveiws the apartment has received on a different site: 'This flat was lovely! We stayed for a week. It's located in a very central area, and it's so easy to get all around London via bus or Tube, both of which you can access from just a few steps outside of the apartment. There is a very cute alley with a few pubs and cafes and a barber shop along adjacent to this building, and of course right outside is a cute park to sit in and reflect after a day of exploring. This flat is also just a block or two away from Lamb's Conduit, which has trendy shops and cafes. The home was also very clean and well appointed and provided us with a comfy place to crash after a long day in the city. And our host, Elizabeth, was is a gem. She was so kind and helpful and just a pleasure to meet.' 'Elizabeth's flat was simply the most charming abode I have ever had the opportunity to temporarily call home. My wife and I cannot stop thinking about and discussing just how much this space in Holborn contributed to the beauty of our trip. Bright and immediately inviting, natural light floods the white landscape, with a cool breeze from an adorable balcony window. This home is perfect for a couple, and great for an indvidual as well. Just a tow-minute walk from the Tube, and two stops from Central London, Holborn is a clear choice for anyone seeking quiet and safe, yet accessible and exciting. Elizabeth allows autonomy with support if needed, though everything was perfect so we did not need to reach out. We absolutely cannot wait to return to this amazing city, and will look no further than Elizabeth for such comfort and hospitality!' Bloomsbury and Holborn, walking distance of Covent Garden and Soho. Great central london apartment, within walking distance of Covent Garden, Soho and the West End: set in a pretty, leafy historic square, British Museum on our doorstep.
