Catch some rays Zephyrs rippling the treetops and clouds wreathed in birdsong, the golden dusk dappling a Mary Poppins skyline – there’s really nothing to beat the eastwards views from this enchanted home. On a leafy street near Shepherd's Bush, this Georgian apartment has high ceilings and is furnished in a style both graceful and demure. Take coffee on the balcony or bask on the roof terrace – and you can choose between the boutiques of Notting Hill and the endless shops of Westfield. Yes, it can’t be denied, this home’s a scorcher. Beams of delight Your hostess is no stranger to long, balmy days. She’s from Australia, and she’s now a permanent London resident. A lawyer with a love of opera and contemporary art, she’s an energetic type. When the mercury rises you’ll find her swimming lengths of the Serpentine. Summer of love You’ll come first to the open plan living space, warm and bright, the sunshine spilling through the large windows pooling on the honeyed wooden floor. Take a seat in one of the antique armchairs and investigate your hostess’ collection of art books. The kitchen’s granite worktops are illuminated by a chandelier, while the dining table seats four. But it is our belief that everything tastes nicer when eaten outside – and you’ll find more seating out on the balcony, with its views down into the gardens below. The master bedroom has a kingsized wooden bed and vintage bedside tables, and next door, the bathroom is given old-school glamour with grey marble and mirrors. The study can be converted into a second bedroom, and here you’ll find a desk, a flatscreen TV and, best of all, stairs up to the roof terrace. Open the hatch to a private paradise – lie back in your deckchair and let your cares drift away. Feeling hot hot hot Holland Park’s cafes and delis are close-by, as well as some of the best butchers and bakers in town. Pick up a joint at Lidgates, then head to the Hummingbird Bakery in Notting Hill for a box of scrumptious cupcakes. Nearby Westfield is packed with shops, and a terrific selection of restaurants, indeed, there’s even a multiplex cinema. You could walk to Kensington, or go into town. The tube from Shepherd's Bush or Holland Park to Oxford Circus takes around ten minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, toiletries, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges. Early cancellation. If you cancel at least 2 weeks before you are due to arrive, we will charge you 50% of the cost of your stay. Late cancellation. We’ll be as flexible as we can if you need to cancel. However, once you’re within two weeks of the start of your stay, we can’t refund your booking. If you have any immediate questions, please contact us directly. The configuration is slightly unusual with the open plan kitchen-dining-reception area at the first floor level, leading onto a terrace and benefiting from views across the neighbourhoods gardens. It is also quite the sun trap in the summer months! The ground floor offers two bedrooms, both with access to the patio garden, one of which is en-suite, a utility area and a separate family bathroom. The master suite is located at the top of the house on the second floor. The modern dĂŠcor and Nordic inspired interior have been cleverly integrated to complement the period of the property, with high spec fittings blending seamlessly with vintage touches. From the tiled entrance hall you can see the entire length of the property, there is a laundry room tucked away to the left as your enter the property and a swish family bathroom on the other side of the hall. At the rear of the property are two good-sized bedrooms. The first of which has a single bed in, built in wardrobe and desk and double doors to the patio garden. The second has a king-sized bed, a piano and an en-suite bathroom. Up the wood staircase to the main living accommodation, this room is flooded with natural light from the dual aspect windows and the folding doors to the balcony. Although this room is open plan there are well defined areas for working, eating, relaxing and cooking, which is tantamount to the thought that has gone into its design. The kitchen is well equipped for purpose, with mod cons and an island with breakfast bar. There is also a more substantial dining table for more formal meals in, and a table a chairs on the balcony should you wish to make the most of the barbeque on the balcony. The master suite which spans the entire top floor, is pretty and plush with a padded headboard and large double bed, bedside lights with stylish reading lights and walk-in wardrobe, as well as a magnificent en-suite with free standing bath and separate shower. Additional amenities include: hob, normal TV, DVD collection, desk, plates and cutlery, glasses. The security deposit is refundable at the end of the stay. The upmarket area of Holland Park has much to offer those visiting the Capital with award-winning restaurants, trendy boutiques of Westbourne Grove, and the world renowned Portobello Road market for bargain hunters alike. I'm happy to share my top tips, and make sure you are comfortable. Check out sightseeing recommendations from previous guests, they are listed under Neighbourhood Overview. The NeighborhoodLondon has everything you would wish for, from theatre and museums to walking and shopping, from clubs to historical houses and parks to gleaming new architecture. Tell me what you are interested in, and I'll give you some pointers. Here some personal recommendations from previous travellers: Things to do while in London: 1. Fat Tire Bike Tour-- A really great way to see the city, highly recommended for a sunny day since you'll be outside for the duration of the tour. There are many tours to choose from, ranging in price and time spent touring. We did the Royal London Bike Tour, which was approximately 4 hours in duration, very easy to bike, and cost around 22 pounds if booked in advance. This was a wonderful tour that took us to the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Royal Parks, Kensington Palace, and Trafalgar Square. The tour starts from Queensway Tube station, which is a very short walk from Holland Park, or an even shorter Tube ride (two stops). This would be a great thing to do early in your stay in London, as it provides a nice summary of famous places to go and see, and you can decide which ones to revisit. (URL HIDDEN) 2. Portobello Road Markets-- Very unique and interesting local shops and booths, especially happening on Saturdays. We walked around for a couple of hours just looking at various items available for purchase. Great place for souvenirs, food, and just to walk around and talk to some local people who own the shops. Take time to look through everything. These are a nice and short walk away from Holland Park. (URL HIDDEN) 3. Carnaby Street-- Cool, central location for shopping and food. Popular in the 1960's and 70's as a cultural hub. We walked around for quite a while just looking at decorations and store fronts. This is close to and in between Leicester Square and Oxford Circus. If you are looking for a nice cap while in London, nearby to Leicester Square is Laird Hatters ((URL HIDDEN) where we found a great deal on a much-loved handmade cap. (URL HIDDEN) 4. Walk through Kensington Gardens towards the Albert Memorial and pass by The Royal Albert Hall on your way to the Science Museum and the Natural History Museum-- from Holland Park, walk down towards the Notting Hill Gate and Queensway Stations. At Queensway, turn into the park and follow paths into Kensington Gardens and explore this beautiful area, including a man-made pond with plenty of birds to feed (whole grain bread or seeds is the preference). Follow paths down towards the Albert Memorial, and cross over the main street to find the museums. This walk can take anywhere from an hour to a half day, depending on how much time you spend exploring the gardens and museums. The Science Museum is free to enter, and the Natural History Museum is free, but there is a charge for several of the more popular exhibits. 5. Holland Park and Design Museum: Don't miss a walk through beautiful and nearby Holland Park, with peacocks and the Japanese Garden. The Design Museum which is at the far end of the park is newly opened, beautiful and very interesting. Take a look inside the museum shop as well. Exiting the park at the Design Museum puts you on Kensington High Street, another great place for shopping and eating. 6. Visit Oxford! -- If you are a fan of J.R.R Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, or English literature in general, or if you like history, or beautiful old buildings, do visit Oxford for a day trip or more. There is a bus, the Oxford Tube, which leaves from Shepherd's Bush station, about a five minute walk from where you are. The bus comes every fifteen minutes and round-trip costs 14 pounds for students, 18 pounds for regular adult tickets. You can purchase tickets as you get on the bus. While in Oxford, take a tour (visit (URL HIDDEN) for ideas) or create a self-guided tour. Make sure to stop in The Eagle and Child, which is the pub where C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were in a writer's group together. Grab a bite at Chequers, which has great cider and great food (URL HIDDEN) Another stop would be The Bear, Oxford's oldest pub. (URL HIDDEN) 7. Walk through Kensington Gardens again, this time towards Hyde Park. Pass by the Serpentine, a large and beautiful body of water. Cross over from Hyde Park to pass through the Wellington Arch. If anyone is a history fan or wants a great view, pay the 4 pounds to go up to the top of the Wellington Arch for a great view of the city, including Buckingham Palace which can be seen from the Arch. If the timing is right, you can see the horse guard pass through the Arch. There is a great exhibit about the Battle of Waterloo, and also an exhibit explaining that the Arch was used as a police station in modern times. From there, you can go to Buckingham Palace and go through to St. James's Park. This walk takes about a half day. 8. Food Recommendations (there are many GREAT places, these are just a few--believe it or not!) --The Churchill Arms: Very close by, a must-see. This pub has a great atmosphere and amazing decorations on the outside and inside. Go inside for a pint, and put your name on the list to eat. The food is WONDERFUL--a Thai food menu that is reliably delicious. Plenty of vegetarian options as well. The quality draws the crowds, but the food is well worth the wait. (URL HIDDEN) --Malabar: Also very close by, and very delicious Indian food. We ordered Take Away, but the inside has a great atmosphere. Very reasonably priced, fresh food. (URL HIDDEN) --Ladbroke Arms: Under a 5 minute walk away, this pub has a great atmosphere and even better food. Come willing to spend a bit more for some incredible meals. The pub has a rotating menu of fresh options. We ordered main courses and ate every bite. (URL HIDDEN) --Masters Superfish: This is a bit out of the way on the Waterloo Station tube stop, but worth the trip to southeast London. We asked for the best fish and chips in London, and someone pointed us this way. It was a great recommendation. (URL HIDDEN) --Black & Blue: We visited here for the full English breakfast, but they have an extensive menu and the food is quite good. Wait staff was very kind at the Notting Hill location. (URL HIDDEN) --Pizza Express: This is a chain restaurant, but don't let that deter you. The food is great and very reasonably priced. We were able to get a table on New Years Eve with no hassle, and it was exactly what we needed. (URL HIDDEN) --Le Pan Quotidien: Another chain, more delicious and reasonably-priced food. They have a seasonal menu with very fresh and nutritious ingredients. (URL HIDDEN) --Paul Bakery: Our favorite place to go for coffee in the mornings, right across the street from the flat. We visited several times for delicious, freshly baked breakfast and coffee. (URL HIDDEN) These are just a few of our personal recommendations. We also highly recommend talking with and listening to the suggestions of your host! Getting AroundPublic transport couldn't be better! The tube is across the road, and if you prefer overground travel, you can choose between a bus, bike, and train, unless, of course, you prefer to walk, or hail down a Black Cab or Uber. Other Things to NoteThis is an old house from 1880s, so there is no elevator. If you find climbing stairs difficult, a top-floor flat might not be your ideal choice.

The circle of life Your hosts divide their time between London and Oxford. A clever, stylish pair, they’ve modelled their home in the capital on a Wedgewood tobacco jar! Around and about The sitting room is circular, and at its centre sits a mosaic of rare pink marble. Floor to ceiling windows flood the space with sunshine, and you can dine inside, looking out onto the leaves, or out on the fabulous balcony. If you fancy some green space head down into the communal gardens for picnic, otherwise, the black and white kitchen is equipped with everything you need to conjure the perfect pie. The bathrooms are fully equipped with our white fluffy towels. The single bedroom holds a trundle bed amidst red and gold floral wallpaper, while the master is pale and airy, pastel colours and warm oak soothing you to sleep. Social whirl You’re close to Notting Hill’s restaurants and boutiques, and if your new home has inspired you to pick up a few antique souvenirs, look no further than Portobello Road Market. A walk across Holland Park brings you to Kensington High Street, with its mix of British brands and designer stores, and from here it’s just a short bus ride to the museums and Knightsbridge. And if you’ve an appointment in the West End, Shepherd’s Bush tube will whip you there in minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, cafetiere, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone.

This lovely apartment is located in a strategic position, in the elegant district of Holland Park, a short walk from Notting Hill and in the heart of london. Staying in this property you can immerse yourself in the charming atmosphere of the city and feel like a real Londoner. The apartment has a spacious and elegant living room with a comfortable sofa bed. The house also includes a lovely bedroom, a bathroom equipped with all comforts and a fitted kitchen. To ensure guests a unique experience in this wonderful city, I am always available to provide them useful tips and recommendations because as the poet Samuel Johnson said: “By seeing London, I have seen as much of life as the world can show”. Holland Park is one of the most exclusive residential districts of London, famous worldwide for its luxurious, attractive and large Victorian townhouses but also for high-class shopping and restaurants, particularly appreciated especially by celebrities. Although sited in the heart of the city, one of the features I like the most in this neighborhood is the quietness of the area. Shortly smog and lots of green spaces available. It’s nice to walk in the tree-lined streets, surrounded by beautiful and fragrant blooming flowerbeds. From here you can reach the famous Notting Hill in 2 minutes by walk, a cosmopolitan district known as the location for the annual Notting Hill Carnival, and for being home to the Portobello Road Market. The wonderful city park that gives its name to the neighbor, is about 22 hectares (54 acres) in area and is considered one of the most romantic and peaceful parks of West London. The park contains a famous orangery, a giant chess set, a cricket pitch, tennis courts, a Japanese garden, one of London's best equipped children's playgrounds, squirrels and (impressively for a London park) peacocks! The apartment is located a 3 minutes walk from Notting Hill gate tube station on the central line (red line). The area is also conveniently served by several bus lines.

Interaction with GuestsI tend to work late, and travel quite a lot, but I will make sure you are comfortable. I can give you plenty of tips what to see and do in London. To whet your travel appetite, here are some recommendations from previous guests: Things to do while in London: 1. The NeighborhoodLondon has everything you would wish for, from theatre and museums to walking and shopping, from clubs to historical houses and parks to gleaming new architecture. Tell me what you are interested in, and I'll give you some pointers. Getting AroundLondon is very well served by public transport, so don't even think of hiring a car! Metro and bus stops are practically in front of the house. For an experience, try a London Black Cab. Also Uber works well. Other Things to NotePlease note that there is no elevator. If you find climbing stairs problematic this might not be your ideal location. The bed is a futon, which is is somewhat harder than a standard bed. Let me know if you want your bed really soft, and I can add an extra mattress.

Bold and beautiful For all its original features, Holland Park V is a home of voguish delights, from primary coloured chairs in the playroom to the sitting room's geometric propeller coffee table. Throw wide the double doors of the kitchen and find the glamorous sitting room, all muted shades and decadent bay windows – recline on the chunky corner sofa beside the mottled marble mantelpiece, the gleaming pyramidal planes of the light fixture overhead more form than function. And your location’s just as vibrant – perhaps peacock watching in Kyoto Garden, or an evening's diversion at the Opera Holland Park. The golden ratio Your Californian host loves spending time in her fashionable home when not in Paris or the States. A former investment manager, she now prefers more laidback pursuits with her young son, her garden equipped with a barbecue and set of goal posts. Crafted contemporary The master bedroom’s wall of panelled mirrors reflects the busy print of the bird wallpaper, a sheepskin rug soft underfoot, while the chic ensuite is double-sinked and deep-tubbed. In the playroom the clue’s in the name: bright, slouchy bean bags ornament an art deco rug, its superior style rivalled only by the yellow bedroom’s daring ceiling, or the bathroom’s glass basin. Both animated and modern, you’ll find much to admire in this shrine to urban dynamism, and just beyond the threshold you’ve more of the same: the bustling cafés of Holland Park close by, the many-splendored charms of Ladbroke Grove only a little further. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, home cinema system, toiletries, coffee machine, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone, barbeque. Like a duck to water The idyllic serenity of Holland Park, with its squirrels, coy carp and pigeons, feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of neighbouring Kensington, and this two story family home is just as refreshing. Homely yet intellectual, au fait yet intimate. From the garden, to the electric blue shell-shaped lighting, the calming influence of Mother Nature can be felt throughout Royal Crescent. With all the historic peace of the park on its doorstep, and the shops, bars and restaurants of Kensington just a walk away, this three bedroom, three bathroom home offers a beautifully different reality. Birds of a feather From the shelves that creak under the weight of countless books, to the playful paintings that adorn the walls, it’s clear that your hosts have both academic backgrounds, and a sense of humour. Colour me happy It doesn’t take the brush of a Hogarth or Turner to turn London into a work of art. The beauty is there already. It’s definitely in Holland Park, a canvas of cream stucco stippled with the greens and golds of sunshiny trees. That’s the background, but look closer to find the centrepiece. Paintings, of every known school, enhance this home’s allure – yet, for every masterpiece on the wall, you’ll be just as taken by another sight. The wallpapers are vibrant, the furniture both period and peerless, the curtains weighty with sophistication. With a picture-book garden and the tube station mere moments away, the perspective couldn’t be better. Album art Your Aussie hostess heads up a physiotherapy business. A serious art collector, she’s hugely into music too. Her son is currently busy studying at Oxford. In the salon With its tall, stuccoed townhouses and smiling trees, Holland Park Road will have you casting sidelong glances all the way to the front door. Head into the hallway to see artwork gracefully hung over the wainscoting, and choose between two sitting rooms. The smaller is snug and sophisticated, while the larger is so classy you’ll feel like bowing. But save your back and repose on the elegant sofa, before eying up the paintings around you. With its high ceilings, heavy curtains and polished antiques, any aesthete will be spoiled. Take a turn around the tempting garden or enjoy a fortifying glass in the vibrant, eat-in kitchen. Of three bedrooms, start in the dainty yet distinctive double before looking in on the lively twin, its shelves groaning with books and ceiling wallpapered in blue. The master marries old-time pomp with modern art, and the king bed is dressed in the crispest linen. You’ve two bathrooms, one modern, one traditional, both brimming with White Company goodies. Finishing touches Even your location is a masterpiece. Turn one way and you can join the peacocks as they strut through beautiful Holland Park, turn the other and choose from the restaurants and boutiques of snazzy Holland Park Avenue. Ring a ring o' roses Holland Park is one of London’s gems.
