There is also a communal garden at the back of the house which you have access to. The NeighborhoodMy home is in a beautiful quiet part of Islington very close to all the great restaurants and cafés. It is very close to some great restaurants on Upper Street and by the canal, as well as great food at exmouth market. Getting AroundEasy 5 minute walk from Angel tube station and a 15 minute walk from Kings Cross station.

The apartment is in a gated block of only 8 flats making it very secure and safe. The apartment is located on the lower ground floor/basement, however there is a good amount of light and rather than climbing upstairs it actually makes it easier to bring luggage in and out of the flat as you only have 5 steps down into the apartment. I lived in the apartment for many years and was very happy with the set up. Sofa bed in the living room converts into double bed with sprung mattress and memory foam mattress topper complete with full linen. Both bedrooms and living room with sofa bed are fitted with blackout blinds and curtains. Bedrooms also come with wardrobes and hangers. Cupboard basics include olive oil, balsamic vinegar, mustard, salt and pepper, sugar. Household items supplied: hand soap, toilet rolls, washing tablets, fabric softener, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid.           The SpaceThe open plan living and dining area has a glass table seating four and a pull out futon which can sleep another 2 people. The flat can comfortably sleep 4 people, two couples, however there is an extra person charge after 2 of £10 p/person p/day. We have a minimum 2 night stay, but will try to accommodate your needs however we can. Families and pets welcome. As well as pre check in and post check out cleaning, Nina comes every Wednesday afternoon for general cleaning, this is included in your booking price. Nina can also change sheets if requested in advance. Please let me know at time of booking if it is not convenient for you to allow Nina access on Tuesdays. There will be an extra charge of £30 if you would like a cleaner to come at a different time, I would be happy to arrange this for you. There is a no smoking policy in the flat, and I would be very grateful if guests would smoke outside. Angel is excellently located with many easy transports to central London via Angel Tube or Kings Cross Station. Getting AroundAngel is a very safe neighborhood, one of the safest in London, like anywhere else in a city it is good to be cautious when you are out and about I feel totally safe living here and quite happily walk home at night. I have lived here for 3 years without having any problems. The flat is right around the corner from a police station, so it dosn't get much safer than that! Getting to the flat from rail stations: Angel Tube station: As you walk ou tof teh tube station cross over the main road (Upper Street and head down Liverpool Road past Sainsbury's on your left. Take the first left down Toddpuddle Street, turn right at Johns Barbour and the flat is on the right after the bus stop. You need to go into the front garden area by the buss stop down to the front door which isn't completely obvious from the road. I live in the bottom flat, so right he bottom buzzer if we have arranged to meet. Kings Cross: The flat is a 10 minutes walk from Kings Cross Station, or you can bet any number of busses from the station to Penton Rise and take that road down to my road. (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) all go to Angel from Kings Cross and the stops before Angel are all close to my house. You can also get the Northern line from Kings Cross To Angel. Getting to the flat from main airports: From Heathrow (LHR): There are a couple of routes you can take from LHR to the flat. I would recommend getting the tube all the way to Kings Cross station, on the Piccadilly Line (dark blue) as that is one journey without and changes. The other option is to get the Paddington Express train to Paddington Station, from where you can get the Hammersmith and City line (Pink) or Circle line (Yellow) to Kings Cross. From Kings Cross, they can either get a bus to the road by the flat or change to the Northern Line to Angel. The journey will take roughly an hour either way. Taking the tube all he way from LHR to Kings Cross will be cheaper than the Heathrow express. From Luton (LTN) The trains go from Luton Airport Parkway to London Euston Station. Euston Station is an easy bus or tube journey to my house. If you are taking the tube get the northern line to Angel. Any of the bussess down Euston Road towards Angel will stop near the flat. From Stanstead (STN) The Stanstead express train gets into liverpool Street. From Liverpool Street you can get the 153 Bus to right out side my house. You can also choose to change at Tottenham Hale station and change onto the Victoria Line (light Blue) to Kings Cross. Busses/coaches from Stanstead get into Victoria Station, from where you can get the Victoria Line tube to Kings Cross. From Gatwick (LGW) You can get the train from LGW to London Bridge Station and get the Northern Line tube (Black line) to Angel Station. Other Things to NoteI used to leave a big breakfast of all kinds of choices, but found that a lot was being wasted, so I now usually only leave the basics, milk, tea, coffee, jams, butter... however I am very happy to get in whatever you might like prior to your arrival, so please do let me know at the time of booking if there is anything specific that you would like and I will do what I can! In addition, the flat is conveniently located in the centre of all local amenities whilst also being on a quiet square - best of both worlds! The apartment is designed with floor to ceiling windows, which means the sunlight literally floods in, especially in the mornings, so you will definitely feel like you are on holiday, although you can pull the blinds down if you prefer. For those coming from warmer climates, this is a warm home as the walls are thick and I rarely have to use any heating. At the top of the building is a roof terrace, with views across London. The Gherkin, The Shard, The BT Tower and St Paul's Cathedral are all within eyeshot. Guests will have access to a washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi, and fully equipped brand new kitchen with double fridge freezer and hob/ oven. The bathroom is brand new travertine stone tiled and fitted with underfloor heating, I will be on hand to meet you at the start of your trip and am only a phone call away should you need anything. Angel is a trendy, fast paced neighbourhood, you will really feel like you are part of the city. That said, there are quiet spaces, such as garden pubs, and parks nearby. You will be spoilt for choice with hundreds of restaurants and bars lining Upper Street, some of them run and owned by top chefs such as Jamie Oliver. My flat is a 2 minute walk from all of this. There is also a shopping centre 5 minutes away with a 6 screen cinema and more shops and restaurants. Also a 5 minute walk away is one of the oldest street markets in London, Chapel Market. Here you can buy fruit, vegetables, clothing, hardware, hats, bags, more or less anything really. The market is full of real London characters. It's also worth mentioning we have fabulous theatres such as The Almeida, Hen & Chickens, and The Kings Head, all a stone's throw from here. Angel is also the location of a pub called The Camden Head, the only comedy venue in London which has free comedy shows, every night of the week. You can hire cheap bikes on the street outside the property. This facility was put in place by Major Boris Johnson as a way to get people out of their cars. It's a good way to explore the area. Cycling to the West End from here would take about 20 minutes. If cycling is not your thing, then Angel Tube Station is a 6 minute walk and will take you to all London destinations. Also outside the tube station are many different buses which will take you all over London including to Piccadilly Circus, Camden, Knightsbridge, West End, and the stations Kings Cross, Victoria, Euston and Waterloo. Handy if you need to catch a train out of London. All buses are frequent, some as often as every 3 minutes. The building is Grade II listed, and was founded in 1828, formerly The Royal Free Hospital, to provide free hospital care to those who couldn't afford treatment. Getting AroundYou can hire cheap bikes on the street outside the property. This facility was put in place by previous London mayor Boris Johnson as a way to get people out of their cars. It's a good way to explore the area. Cycling to the West End from here would take about 20 minutes. If cycling is not your thing, then Angel Tube Station is a 6 minute walk and will take you to all London destinations. Also outside the tube station are many different buses which will take you all over London including to Piccadilly Circus, Camden, Knightsbridge, West End, and the stations Kings Cross, Victoria, Euston and Waterloo. Handy if you need to catch a train out of London. All buses are frequent, some as often as every 3 minutes. Other Things to NoteThe building is Grade II listed, and was founded in 1828, formerly The Royal Free Hospital, to provide free hospital care to those who couldn't afford treatment. The title 'Royal' was granted by Queen Victoria in 1837 in recognition of the hospital's work with cholera victims. It's a beautiful building, particularly imposing from the front, with many interesting architectural features. The conversion to housing was completed 20 years ago and was celebrated by the Royal Duchess of Wales who came to hold the opening ceremony. It's super central (without being touristic) so really easy to get around. There are nice, quiet streets and parks but also an almost crazy number of restaurants and pubs/bars. If you like food and wine/craft beer, you are in the right area. Some of the local bars have live music and one, the Camden Head, has free stand up comedy every night (make sure you get there early (around 7pm) to get a seat upstairs). We have two cinemas close by, a few small theatres and Sadlers Wells dance venue. We are a 5 minute walk to the lovely Regent's Canal. Check out our Airbnb Guidebook for details. Getting AroundWe recommend downloading the Citymapper app for your phone or using their website to help you get around on public transport. We are a in Zone 1, our closest tube station is Angel on the Northern Line (about a 7 minute walk away). We are 1 tube stop (or a 5 minute bus ride) from King's Cross station. Angel has buses going in every direction you would like to go. It is so central you won't be struggling for options. There are hire bikes ("Boris bikes") just down the street, you pay by the day (£2) so if you're making a lot of short journeys, they're the cheapest way to get around (and you'll get to see a lot more of the city on a bike (or bus) than you will in the tube). If you want a taxi, we recommend using Uber. If you download the Uber app, and enter the code andreas1209, you'll automatically get your first ride for free (up to £10). London black cabs are great, all the drivers have to know every single street in the city to get their license, but they're a lot more expensive. Other Things to NotePARKING: If you're driving you can park for free everyday at night between 6.30pm and 8.30am. On Saturdays it is free from 1.30pm and Sundays it is free at all times. We are just outside the congestion charge zone.

Private taxis, car hire, canal barges are also close. The flat is centrally located and requires little effort to travel around London. Shoreditch is just a 10 minute bus ride away ! For travellers: we are 5 minutes from King's Cross St Pancras by bus, and 15 minutes from London Bridge train station by tube ! There is one bedroom with a large double bed (160cm wide) very comfortable, and the other bedroom has a baby cot bed (140x70). There is also a large modern bathroom. Everything is new as the flat has been built in 2013. Guest AccessYou will have access to the entire flat except the ensuite bathroom and the small green bacony by the ensuite bedroom (but you will access the big bacony). We ask that you remove your shoes as we have clean carpet in the bedrooms. Interaction with GuestsWe will leave a leaflet with all the information you need to make the best of your stay in our flat. We have friends in the building so you will receive immediate help if anything happens during your stay. The NeighborhoodYou will be 5-10min walk to Angel where you will find plenty of restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, cinemas, shops to go out. You also have a choice between massive sainsbury's, M&S, Waitrose for groceries. You can go to Chapel market for fresh fruits and vegetables (5min). You will also find a big bus station and the Angel tube, so for example if you want to go out in Shoreditch you will be fairly close as well. Our flat is also 50m away from Barnard park. On Kings Cross side, you will have access to Granary square, newly open restaurants and all the transport links, 10-15min to our flat Getting AroundFrom the airport it is usually easier to arrive at Kings Cross station and then walk 10 minutes. If you let us know which airport you arrive from we will send you the best way to arrive. Wherever you go in London, you will easily have access either by tube in Kings Cross or a bus in Angel.                 The SpaceThis is a really homely and beautiful studio apartment with a large L-shaped living room/bedroom, and recently modernised kitchen and bathroom. It sleeps two in a double bed. The front of the flat has floor-to-ceiling windows with good views down a tree-lined street. The back looks out on to a large shared garden. The furnishings are comfortable and homely with plenty of objects from my travels around the world and a good selection of books and CDs. There is also a music system you can connect to over the wi-fi, and fast cable wi-fi throughout the flat. There is good central heating and an open (gas) fire, plus unlimited hot water. The kitchen has a washing machine and dishwasher. Bed clothes and towels provided. Guest AccessYou will have full access to the flat plus the shared garden downstairs. The NeighborhoodThis is a popular and fashionable part of London with plenty of good shops, restaurants, cafes and entertainment. The flat is walking distance from Shoreditch, Hoxton, the West End and the City of London. Getting AroundThere are plenty of bus routes within 200m of the flat. Angel underground is 5 minutes away.                 The SpaceGalatée is a brand new traditional houseboat located on a quiet wooded private gated mooring in the heart of London. She is centrally heated and warm. The mooring is in a beautiful spot on Regent's Canal, surrounded by trees, with ducks, swans and geese on your doorstep. This is a calm and peaceful place to stay in the centre of London. When possible we will be there personally to welcome you and explain everything about life on board Galatée and how the mooring works. If we are away a friend will meet and greet you. Wifi is available free of charge. Please note that there are 25 steps down to the mooring and a large step onto the boat. There are two entrances to the boat at the bow and at the stern: - At the bow (front) there is a self-contained cabin comprising a small living room with table, chairs, TV, and sofa-bed, and a large cupboard separating the cabin room berth. This berth has a foot-well on order to accommodate a double berth (140 cms wide by 195 cms long). The sofa-bed is just 80 cms wide and can be temporarily extended to 120 cms. There is also small outside sitting area with seating around the bow. - At the stern (back) there is a living room with a comfortable double sofa bed (160 cms), cupboard space, open kitchen (with gas hob, gas oven, cooking utensils, kettle, toaster, plates, cups, glasses and cutlery) and dining table (for 6 to 8 people). There is a solid fuel stove (coal) that can be used for extra heat in winter (please advise us in advance if you wish to use this). There is an outside sitting area with table and chairs. The bow and stern are linked by a corridor (where there is a full size fridge and microwave) and bathroom with basin, shower and small bath, and chemical toilet. Galatée is based on a private mooring, fully secure and well equipped with central heating, mains electricity and plentiful hot water. The water on the boat is perfectly drinkable from all the taps. Living on board is comfortable and fun but there are some things to remember: - you must be aware that space is more confined and the interior soundproofing is less efficient than in a normal house; - water is stored in a tank under the flooring and you will hear a noise from the supply pump when taps are turned on; - there is a chemical toilet, perfectly hygienic! Full linen is provided, as well as an iron, hair dryer and complimentary soaps/shampooing. At the gatehouse you will find a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a small supermarket round the corner and it's an easy walk to Islington Angel shopping center (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's, Tescos and Chapel Market for fresh market food). Living on a houseboat is not like living on dry land. People expect it to be cold and damp, but our home is dry and warm (it is central heated and has a wood-stove). Galatée does not sway at all in the water unless in the wake of a very large boat. The canal is calm and peaceful and there is a beautiful view over the water by day and night; you can see ducks, geese and swans, and from time to time say hi to other friendly house-boaters who go chugging by. In fine weather you can sit outside on the boat or in the little garden area. We are pleased to offer the use of our BBQ in the garden (please see conditions). We are also pleased to offer the possibility of using our beautiful little clinker-built rowing boat, called Acis, if you already know how to use a rowing boat and would like to have a short row up the canal. Please ask us beforehand; it is of course at your own risk for yourself and your passengers. Maximum 4 people aboard. Note that rowing is quite hard work! It is a pleasant row up to the Rotunda pub at Kings Place (just 6-10 minutes). Guest AccessThe gatehouse is always locked. You should call us by phone on +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) to gain access when you first arrive. The gatehouse doors must always be kept locked. Please note that there are 25 steps down to the mooring and a step up onto the boat. For your arrival, please note that if we are not at home, we will organise for the housekeeper to meet and greet you on the boat. We need a maximum 2 hour arrival timeframe for this please. Getting AroundThere is an abundance of railway, underground and bus connections in the area. You can walk along the towpath to King's Cross (15 mins) with all its connections to London, the rest of the UK, the airports and Paris/Brussels by Eurostar. There is a small supermarket round the corner. There is a large shopping area at Islington Angel with supermarkets, shops, cinemas, restaurants along Upper Street, and Chapel Market for fresh market produce (a traditional inexpensive East London food market, open every day except Mondays). There are many wonderful restaurants, fringe theatres (Old Red Lion Theatre, The King's Head Theatre and Almeida Theatre), music clubs, and shops along Upper Street at Islington. Angel station is a useful underground (Northern line) and bus hub. Also at about a 25 minute walk west along the canal you get to Camden Market. The London bus system is efficient and usually less expensive than the underground. There are several bus stops near to the boat. In the actual room is fridge, microwave, kettle & toaster, ideal for preparing snacks and light meals. In cooler weather there is a blanket for the bed and in winter central heating.                 The SpaceIt is a 30sqm architect designed studio flat with integrated living and sleeping area and secluded garden. It is on the ground floor. The bathroom is separate from the main room with a glass door, and functions as a wet room with a great shower. The flat has lots of natural light, due to the very large glass door leading onto the private garden. The style of the flat is contemporary and paired down. The double bed is in an alcove with a sliding screen that can be slid across during day time. The garden is very safe and quiet except for the chatter of the young children in the primary school next door Guest AccessYou will have the entire flat to yourself, with a communal entrance hallway to the building. We normally use a key safe for you to collect the key. The NeighborhoodThe flat is in a very central quiet location, in a beautiful conservation area- beautiful Georgian London. The area is very safe, well lit, and traffic free. On the street (100m) there are two award winning pubs, and within walking distance a lively fantastic produce market. Excellent independent shops, interesting cafes and restaurant can be found on upper street 5 minutes walk away. Getting AroundThere are 2 well connected tube stations - Angel (Zone 1- northern line) and Highbury and Islington (Zone 2- Victoria and Overground) within 10 minutes walk, through a beautiful area of London. There are many excellent bus routes from Upper street (4 minutes away). Well positioned for access to Eurostar terminal (5 mins by taxi). Bikes can be safely stored behind the coded gates and there is also a secure, gated (narrow), off road, car parking space if required (£40 per week). Other Things to NoteMinimum 5 night rental. Free broadband WiFi internet access. TV. The bed is 6'3" (190cm) long. Warm in winter and cool in summer.                 The SpaceGalatée is a brand new traditional houseboat located on a quiet wooded private gated mooring in the heart of London. She is centrally heated and warm. The mooring is in a beautiful spot on Regent's Canal, surrounded by trees, with ducks, swans and geese on your doorstep. This is a calm and peaceful place to stay right in the centre of London. We live in a cabin at the other end of the boat (stern) and are delighted to share Galatée with you. You have a personal entrance onto the bow of the houseboat and to your self-contained, private cabin comprising a little living area with table, chairs, TV and sofa-bed, separated by a large cupboard from the small but comfortable double-berth room with washbasin. This berth has a foot-well to accommodate a double bed (140 cms wide by 195 cms long). The sofa-bed is just 80 cms wide for one adult or child or can be temporarily extended to 120 cms for two small children. Complete bed linen and towels are provided and the beds are prepared for you. The bathroom with shower and toilet is shared with us. There is plentiful hot water, central heating, mains electricity and free wifi. There are about 20 steps down to the mooring and a large step onto the boat. When possible we will be there personally to welcome you and explain everything about life on board Galatée and how the mooring works. If we are away a friend will meet and greet you. If possible during your stay, we would love to share a drink or coffee. We are pleased to offer complimentary tea, coffee, and cereal. Also a kettle, toaster, plates, cups, glasses and cutlery are provided in your room and you have use of the microwave and fridge. Living on a houseboat is not like living on dry land. People expect it to be cold and damp, but our home is dry and warm. Galatée does not sway at all in the water unless in the wake of a very large boat. There are some things to remember about boat life: The toilet is a chemical toilet with a manual pump flush, perfectly hygienic! The shower/bath does not empty without the click of a switch for the pump. The water on the boat is perfectly drinkable and stored in a tank under the flooring. You will hear a noise from the supply pump when taps are turned on. Living on board is comfortable and fun but you must be aware that space is more confined and interior soundproofing is much less efficient than in a normal house. In fine weather you can sit outside on the bow of the boat or in the little garden area. The canal is calm and peaceful and there is a beautiful view over the water by day and night; you can see ducks, geese and swans, and from time to time say hi to other friendly house-boaters who go chugging by. Washing machine/tumble dryer & ironing facilities are available on demand. There is a small supermarket round the corner and an easy walk to Islington Angel shopping center (Waitrose, M&S, Sainsbury's, Tescos and Chapel Market for fresh market food). We know lots of tips and tricks to having an incredible stay in what we think is the best city in the world! We can happily recommend many great restaurants, cafes and gastropubs both in the local area and further afield. It is a pleasant walk along the towpath to King's Cross and Granary Square (10/15 mins). Towards the east is Islington Angel, with its wonderful restaurants, theatres, music clubs, and shops. Close by there is also Camden Passage antiques market and Chapel Market (a traditional inexpensive East London food market); and it's about a 25 minute walk west along the canal to Camden Market and the attractions of Camden. And here is an abundance of railway, underground and bus connections in the area. This is a beautiful, calm and central location! Guest AccessThe gatehouse is on Muriel Street (next to number 50). Best is to call us by phone on +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) or +(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) to gain access when you first arrive. The gatehouse doors must always be locked. Please note that there are about 20 steps down to the mooring and a large step onto the boat and into the cabin. We ask you to kindly confirm with us your expected arrival time within a 2 hour timeframe. If we are not at home, our housekeeper will come to the boat to meet you and show you around. In this case you must please arrive within the chosen timeframe or if you are over an hour late please reimburse the housekeeper at the rate of £12/hour. If your arrival timeframe goes later than 10pm there has to be a £15 late hour charge for the housekeeper. Thank you for your understanding. Interaction with GuestsYou will be staying in our houseboat home. When possible we will be there personally to welcome you and explain everything about life on board Galatée and how the mooring works. We love to meet and share a drink or coffee with our guests. You have a private entrance and cabin, and so are able to be as independent as you wish. Simon loves cooking and by arrangement if we are home you can join us for supper most nights for £20 per person for a 3 course meal including house wine. The NeighborhoodGalatée has everything you'll need to enjoy an original stay in London! Getting AroundWe are very close to transport links. King's Cross-St Pancras station has connections to London, the rest of the UK (e.g. 1 hr train to Brighton), the airports and Paris/Brussels by Eurostar, as well as many underground lines. Local bus services are excellent, and there are several spots to hire bikes nearby. We're also about a 10 min walk to Angel underground station (northern line). Other Things to NoteThe hosts live and work at the other end of the boat and will normally be around during your stay. On Mondays we kindly ask for quiet on the boat during the afternoon/evening as a practitioner psychologist uses our end of the boat for consultations.
