Close-up Murphy Street may be right in the heart of London, but this home’s peaceful atmosphere belies its buzzing location. No room here is ill-composed – subtle cream walls complement the bolder tones of the contemporary furniture, and natural seagrass carpets and polished wood floors complete the scene. And such demurity is an ideal backdrop for this home’s focal point – the dazzling photographs that draw the eye in every room. Zoom in on these first – they’re all worth admiring – then unfurl on the generous corner sofa to absorb the surprising calm. A different angle Your hosts spend most of their time in LA, but when here they enjoy nothing more than a day spent exploring the animated markets and coffee shops visible from their lofty shared terrace. In the background There’s much to behold in Waterloo – whether it’s the bustle of Borough Market or the cultural delights of the Tate Modern that appeal, you’ll find both are close by. But this picture-perfect home will surely prove too pleasing to leave for long. There’s an ultra-modern kitchen with a dining table that seats six, and two neat bathrooms with sleek modern fittings. And as each of the simple and restful bedrooms are equally well-considered, this apartment is poised for comfort, too. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hairdryer, hob, toiletries, coffee machine, cafetiere, shared terrace, onefinestay iphone. The SpaceA bright and minimal flat in a historic Grade II listed building, only 4 minutes walk from both Waterloo and Southwark stations. The flat is in the middle of an area full of theaters, trendy bars, small restaurants and boutique cafes. It is within easy walking distance of the Southbank with its river walks, the Tate gallery, the Globe theatre, and more restaurants and cafes. Fifteen minutes walk gets you to the famous food market at london Bridge, Borough Market. A short walk across Waterloo Bridge (around 15-20 minutes) takes you into the heart of Covent Garden. The flat has internet, washing machine, bath and shower, and has recently been renovated. There is a TV hooked up to a projector - it's a little fiddly to use but I'll send details as to which remote does what. If you'd like to watch DVDs, you'll need a laptop which you can connect to the projector. It is in a quiet, residential block, and we would ask you to be considerate of our neighbours. The noise insulation is not brilliant -- you will occasionally be able to hear people walking above you, but it is rarely intrusive. There are garden areas front and back of the flat, which are particularly attractive in spring and summer.

The SpaceWe've been hosting on here for four years. We have now had hundreds of guests come through our doors, we also travel regularly using Airbnb. Between those two things we have a really good feel for what people are looking for when staying here and using Airbnb. We don't live at the property right now so all three bedrooms are rented (the bathroom is shared). We're splitting our time between travelling and staying elsewhere in London and the UK for a while due to work and other commitments, but we're still very much involved in the house. When we can provide access one of our trusted local friends Tina helps out. We know the area, and London in general, very well and provide a full written guide to our guests but are also very happy to help with information by phone, email or What's App about eating, drinking, sightseeing and anything else we can. We appreciate one of the things people like is a bit of local knowledge when staying in Airbnb so do our best to provide this with the guides and contact mentioned above, however we have also dropped the price to reflect that we are no longer in the house, so for the area it is an even bigger bargain. This is a good sized double room in a period mansion block, one minute from Waterloo train station. We have renovated it over the last three years to a high standard, retaining all its original character - this isn't a hotel room, it's a guest room in our house. The decor is an eclectic mixture of modern and vintage, with some original features like the doors and floorboards and a mix of artworks and other things we've picked up on our travels. The room has a good size double bed and good hanging/drawer space, recently decorated with painted wood floors and beautiful wallpaper and enough space for luggage etc. In the rest of the flat we have a communal living room with cable and an LCD TV as well as very high speed broadband throughout the flat. The kitchen is new, finished recently with high spec units, Italian tiles and top spec appliances like a Bosch dishwasher and Miele washing machine. The bathroom is small but perfectly formed with a powerful rain shower. There is a separate toilet. The bathroom and toilet are shared. The real highlight of the flat though is the location, which is quite frankly amazing and the main reason we chose to live here. For transport it is 30 secs from Waterloo train station. Basically, getting anywhere in London is within easy reach on the tube/bus etc. It is walking distance (under 15 mins) to the Southbank (Tate Modern, BFI, Hayward etc), Covent Garden, The House of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Tower of London, St Pauls and many more attractions. Closer still (1 min) Lower Marsh market is emerging as one of London's cutest little markets with international street food stalls and a weekly produce market. The rate includes a nice, simple continental style breakfast which you help yourself to in the morning. Bagels, preserves, cereals, juice, tea and coffee that kind of thing. The flat is on the third floor so a few easy steps are necessary, unfortunately this means no disabled access is possible. Parking can be arranged for an extra fee (it costs us money to buy it). Check in is best after 4pm, if we can help with other times we will but it often isn't possible. We cannot accommodate small children. It's strictly two adults or one adult and child over 10yrs per room. The NeighborhoodWe provide a printed guide in your room on arrival, created by us exclusively for our guests.

The SpaceThe room is in a two-bedroom second floor flat (no lift) in a secure block on a friendly estate. The room measures about 3.5 metres by 2.5 metres and contains a European king-size (150cm width) double bed, as well as a table and chair if you need to work. The rest of the flat includes a bathroom, a separate toilet, a lounge, a kitchen and another bedroom for me, the owner. The bathroom has a bathtub, a shower and a sink, and there's a sink in the toilet as well. I provide towels and there's a hairdryer too. The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer and washing machine/dryer. The lounge has a sofa, a chair, a table and a flatscreen TV. Guest AccessYou can go anywhere apart from my bedroom and you're welcome to use the kitchen including the washing machine as long as I help you work it. You can also use the fridge and freezer to store food. There's also an iron and ironing board if you need. Interaction with GuestsI'm quite often in the flat as I'm a freelance journalist, but it's unpredictable so I may be out during the day. If I'm around and feeling sociable (most of the time but not always!) then happy to talk and maybe eat together. I speak some Italian and a little Spanish but my mother tongue is English. The NeighborhoodMy neighbourhood is great in that it is really close to lots of the main attractions of London without being crowded with tourists, but at the same time there are plenty of places to eat, drink and buy groceries on my doorstep. It is quite good for arts and culture because it is in the South Bank area of London. Some of the places within 20 minutes walk include the London Eye, the Tate Modern, the Houses of Parliament, Somerset House, the Royal Festival Hall and the Imperial War Museum. What it doesn't really have is any clothes shops, but if you want to go to Oxford Street or Covent Garden it only takes 15 minutes by public transport. If you want to relax there is a small park a minute's walk away but two larger and nicer parks about 10 minutes' walk away. Also it's only 15 minutes to Green Park by the Underground. If you want to buy food there are lots of options close by, including two small supermarkets (Sainbury's Local and Tesco express) and a great grocer. There's also a small street market within four minutes and Borough Market takes about 15 minutes to get to. Getting AroundThe location is great for public transport, being within four minutes of Waterloo train and underground station (Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo lines), within three minutes of Lambeth North underground station (Bakerloo line) and within two minutes of several bus routes into the West End and the City of London. Here are just some of the places you can get to in one train, tube or bus ride: Greenwich, Regent's Park, Camden, Madame Tussaud's, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the Olympic Park, Stratford, the British Museum, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Tower of London and Tower Bridge ... and there's more!

The SpaceGreat Location - Most guests have noted that. HOT NEWS....BRAND NEW BED MATTRESSES... The apartment actually has 2 double bedrooms and a spare room with a bed. It is very central. Door to door – it’s a 3 to 4 minutes walk from the Bakerloo and Northern Lines Tube Stations and 7 mins walk from the Jubilee Line at Southwark Tube Station. (An accurate description in terms of times.) Garden Row is a short road - at the end of the road, there are 24 hour buses into the West End OR you can walk to the Houses of Parliament/Westminster in 15 minutes. At the other end of Garden Row there are 24 hour buses to Shoreditch and the City of London – just across London Bridge. It is a 1 minute walk(accurate) to the Imperial War Museum and the park around it - I play tennis there and use the Café inside the Museum which is nice. The Tate Modern and SouthBank is very close and a 10-12 minutes walk. I walk it twice a week. It's a nicely decorated 3 double bedroom flat in SE1 on two levels just by the South Bank and the River Thames. The apartment has a separate kitchen with a small table and chairs, a good sized open plan style living room with a table and 6 chairs and a sofa and glass doors leading into the walled garden. It has one shower room and a separate toilet. The shower works well - not a dribble! - and is a good size. The three bedrooms are of equal size. The flat has Wifi. We have nice neighbours on the street and I tell them when I have people staying. Parking permits for your car are available, if you give me advance warning so you can park outside the flat All towels and bedding etc is provided and whatever in the food cupboard is yours to use - tea, coffee, all the usual cooking condiments, breakfast cereals and anything else that happens to be there. I hope I'm a good host and hope to be flexible to what you need during your stay. Just ask. It has a separate kitchen with a small table and chairs, a good sized open plan style living room with a table and 6 chairs and a sofa and glass doors leading into the walled garden. It has one shower room and a separate toilet. The shower works well - not a dribble! - and is a good size. Two of the bedrooms are of equal size and the third is slightly smaller but still a double room with a double bed, desk and wardrobe etc Each bedroom has plenty of hanging clothes space and shelving. The Tate Modern and South Bank is very close and a 10-12 minutes walk. I walk it twice a week - lots of things to do/see/eat/drink The flat is in Zone One and inside the Congestion Charge if you have a car. Parking permits for your car are available, if you can give advance warning, so you can park outside the flat. Guest AccessThe guests have access to the whole flat. There's one storage cupboard full of junk/bits and bobs that I ask to be left alone. Interaction with GuestsI come and say hello when you arrive if it's possible and then leave you to it. But I am at hand if you need any assistance. The NeighborhoodI've lived in and around there for 12 years. I like that I'm 2 mins from the Imperial War Museum and the park that it;s set in - which means I can use the tennis courts and 5 a side football. I have a 24 hour mini supermarket 1 min away - very useful! And various coffee places at the the top of the road. And I'm close to the Southbank Centre where I hang out socially - eat and drink - and the River Thames where I jog along. Across the road from the flat, is a very good gym attached to Southbank University which you can use if you want to keep up your exercise regime while away. The Cut and Lower Marsh, SE1 - are two well known streets full of shops, restaurants and pubs and only a 8-10 mins walk from the flat. On Saturday, you can walk to Borough Market - London's number one food market and great people watching! Other Things to NoteThe flat is BRILLIANTLY located as many of the reviews point out. The Bakerloo and Northern Lines are 3 mins away - and there are buses anywhere you want to go, depending what you have planned to see while in London. When travelling to the flat - I always advise to get a taxi, particularly if you can share the cost - don't use Black Cabs/Taxis - they are very expensive - book a taxi on your phone or online via (URL HIDDEN) or (URL HIDDEN) - both cheaper and just as efficient. If you want to use public transport, let me know from which airport/train station you're arriving at and I will give you the best way to get to the flat. Parking - if you know London, you'll know it's a nightmare to both drive around and park. If you let me know in advance that you will need to park a vehicle near or outside the flat I can arrange to buy parking vouchers which last one day each, that can be arranged.

The decor is an eclectic mixture of modern and vintage, with some original features like the doors and floorboards and a mix of artworks and things we've picked up on our travels. The SpaceWonderful place if you like to mix the traditional London with beautiful contemporary sights and sounds. This is ideal for single travellers who need a central location but without distraction and can live with the noise and grime of central city life. Guest AccessSingle bed, own shower, toilet and sink in a hotel style single room. Small fridge, microwave and kettle. Coffee, tea and sugar and a sewing kit for emergencies, plate, two cups and glasses, bottle opener/corkscrew. Weekly laundry and cleaning service if required at a small cost. The floor is painted concrete and the style is retro so please do not imagine this is all glossy and perfect. It is budget accommodation in the best location. There is a WiFi but it does go down so there is a fixed line connection if you bring a laptop or notebook. Interaction with GuestsYou will be met at the agreed time and the key handed over and a brief chat but then it is unlikely I will see you unless you send me a message or knock next door. I am happy to provide information to help you figure things out so please ask if you want any help. I host another room in my home and that is a better choice if you want to interact with me. I am also unwilling to allow you to arrive after midnight as it will wake up the entire household which is not respectful so please make alternative arrangements if you have a very late arrival. Please note that I will not come into the room when you have the keys unless expressly asked as I will change bedding, towels and clean the room on change over for stays of less than two weeks or, as agreed in advance, for longer stays. You are staying in central London so cleaning material are provided in the room if you need them for your own comfort as this is not a shared space. The SpaceMy home is in the heart of London and steps away from the Southbank's London Eye, The Shard, Tate Modern, Shakespeare's Globe and across the road from a Jubilee Line Zone 1 tube station. It is a very safe location for single travellers, couples, friends and family but two people at any time. It is very easy to find, whichever airport you fly in to and if you want to venture sightseeing - there is loads of things immediately around in one of the oldest part of London. With a Zone 1 tube outside you will find ten minutes and four stops and you are on Oxford Street shopping or four stops the other way and you are in the glamorous financial district of Canary Wharf or on your way to the Olympic site at Stratford. And three mainline stations are ten minutes away so day trips out to Brighton seafront, Salisbury, Bath or Canterbury are all manageable daytrips. My home includes free WIFI, a bedroom with a double bed, two wardrobes, four drawers plus a shared bathroom with a bath and shower above it, a sink plus a separate toilet. Naturally the sheets are changed between guests or weekly if you are staying longer and there are clean towels provided. Please be aware that you need to step over the bath to get in the shower. One of my guests, who had some difficulty, managed to negotiate a very good rate at the local gym. There is also a kitchen with an oven and hob, fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster as well as pans, cutlery, glasses etc.... In the lounge there is a music system, TV and DVD. I am a friendly person and love you to use the facilities and come and go as you wish as you will have two sets of keys. I do have a washing machine but drying is a real issue without a utility room. I have installed a £10 per load rule as I will do it or I will happily tell you where the nearest dry cleaners or laundrette is in the area. My home is comfortable but not perfect. You will hear neighbours and sirens as the emphasis is living the inner city London life. Everything is very close by from coffee houses to theatres and street markets to the River Thames and I promise to always help if you have any special requests. Finally I take ecology seriously and have bees on my balcony. In winter they rarely venture out, but in summer if you open your windows you may find one goes in your room. They are good tempered and I am happy to remove it without any harm to you or the bee. No one has been stung yet but if this bothers you simply keep your window closed until it goes dark. This is not a hotel and suits people who are interested in being part of how London breathes and lives. My guests have found it refreshing and entertaining place to gain a few memories and some have even come back with a smile and hug and even better the odd bottle of wine. And I especially love a fridge magnet from your home town to remind me of you. Lizzy x Guest AccessOne double bedroom (maximum 2 people), shared bathroom and toilet, free access to cooking, tea and coffee making facilities. Space in fridge and freezer. I always have bread and butter, jams, marmalade, milk and cereals for guests to help themselves. Interaction with GuestsI live in the same place but it is up to guests if they decide to interact. Most like someone to ask about shopping and attractions, others about getting medical help or where to find that special something - replacement suitcase to tasting the best fish and chips. I have even taken people swimming 8am Sunday morning or on trips around the hood. Just ask and I will see what is possible with a smile. The NeighborhoodIt is real London. Kids playing football in the Square, dropping in to places for a coffee and friends knocking to tell me about what's happening. And my pubs are the best! From the oldest - The George in Borough High Street, to the Nelson - friendliest small star on the edge of the flats to the old boxing favourite The Ring - which has craft ale Blue Moon... And we have the best home made celebration cakes at Konditor and Cook - minutes away. Oh and the world famous Borough Market 10 minutes walk away. Getting AroundCentral London - opposite a Zone 1 tube on the Jubilee Line and within a ten minute walk to three mainline train stations at Waterloo, Blackfriars and London Bridge. Frankly you can get anywhere!! Other Things to NoteTheatres - Old Vic, Menier Chocolate Factory, Young Vic, Jerwood Studio and the Union Street theatre (small and local) are within two to ten minutes walk away. Food galore from Chinese to Indian, from posh burgers to Italian or the fresh and fabulous cuisine of Turkish. The river is ten minutes straight up Blackfriars Road. The apartment is sandwiched half way between The Shard - Europe's tallest tower and the London Eye and Big Ben. Iconic and again so very London.

The SpaceI am only renting out one bedroom. Your bedroom is spacious and overlooking a quiet street. It has a comfortable double bed, plenty of storage, a table and a TV. The flat is spread over two floors. The living room is sunny all day with access to a terrace. The kitchen is open plan and is well equipped as I am a keen cook. The flat has been newly refurbished, is clean and modern. It is in a 1970s block, not the most attractive and welcoming building but it is quiet and well managed. You will be pleasantly surprised once you enter the flat - it completely won me over! It is also within walking distance to the Southbank and its many attractions. You can set off on foot along the Southbank starting from the National theatre, going past the Shakespeare's Globe, the Tate Modern, carrying on to Borough Market or crossing the Millennium bridge to St Paul's Cathedral. Just a short walk over Waterloo Bridge, and you find yourself in Covent Garden. I work in Covent Garden and walk every day. The view from Waterloo Bridge is my favourite view. On one side you have Big Ben, the London Eye and on the other side the imposing City, with the Shard, the Gherkin and among these glass towers, St Paul’s cathedral. If you’re not so keen on walking, there is excellent access to buses and London underground, or if you fancy a bit of exercise, there is a bicycle stand just across the road from the flat. Guest AccessAt all times you have access to the living room and terrace. There is a common shower room with toilet – no bath for long soaks I am afraid – and a separate toilet. Towels and bed sheets are provided. Interaction with GuestsYou will be sharing the space with me, Georgia and her cat Sweetie -they are in between flats- when we are at home. We are friendly, open and whilst we enjoy the company of others, we also respect one’s need for privacy.

The flat is large and bright with a huge terrace with views of the London eye. Your room is a good size with plenty of wardrobe space, it's own TV with built in DVD and there is wifi. Since the photos were taken there is also a desk and office chair in the room. The location is just a few minutes walk from the Tate Modern, the river Thames and the Globe theatre. This Southbank area of London is very trendy with many cafes and restaurants. The pedestrian bridge across the Thames is right opposite the Tate modern and from here you can walk across to St Paul's cathedral. The wonderful Borough Market and Southwark cathedral are just a few minutes away. The Tower of London and Tower bridge and all the restaurants of Shad Thames about a 10 minute walk. For transportation the Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo lines are all within a few minutes walk. Waterloo and London Bridge stations are also just under 10mins away. It's a large modern block built just 4 years ago. There is a large late night convenience store and a restaurant below the building. Across the street there are some cafes, a dry cleaners, a post office with ATM. I've got many delivery menus here if you'd like to order food to be delivered to the flat. If there's anything else you'd like to know about the flat please send me a message. The "street view" offered on this website is for the wrong end of my street, so it gives you a totally wrong idea of the area.
