The cool green squares and the wide Georgian streets of Bloomsbury make it unique – some of the greatest thinkers of the 20th century lived in this area (Marx, Woolf, Darwin, Millais, Forster, Rossetti) and it is home to UCL, the famous London University. The British Museum, the blue plaques which adorn every other building (almost), the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Senate House, Great Ormond Street Hospital; the area is an example of London at its very best.
It is vibrant, fun and bursting with great pubs, restaurants, shops and theatres.
On our doorstep:
Tottenham Court Road is home to some of the best shopping in London (particularly furniture and electronics) and our flat is a 5 minute walk from Oxford Street – (the most famous shopping street in London) which boasts every brand you can think of. Glamorous Regent Street, with it's exclusive shops and the great department stores of Selfridges and John Lewis are a short walk away. Goodge Street and Charlotte Street (on the doorstep) are home to some of the very best pubs, restaurants and bars in London and offer an incredible variety of food, from traditional British pies to fabulous Indian curries. The great novelist, Saul Bellow said the famous line: “A man could be happy living on Charlotte Street..."
For young families there are a plethora of parks nearby – 166 hectares of Regent's Park (home to London Zoo) to run around in and not forgetting London's most famous space for children; Coram's Fields (complete with goats, sheep, rabbits and a wonderful playground) is just minutes from the flat. There are all sorts of open squares and little playgrounds to explore. There are lots of different activities for children in the area too – the majority of museums (these are just some within walking distance) the British Museum, London Transport Museum, British Library, The Foundling Museum run free programmes for children and the YMCA runs an activity course every weekend which includes art, swimming, dance, football etc. There is also an open-air swimming pool at the end of the road.
Further afield, but not too far:
Camden Town is a 7-minute bus journey from our flat and is known for its eclectic market and alternative music venues – great for a weekend of browsing.
You really couldn't ask for more!
We are very centrally located: we are a 15 minute walk from the Eurostar terminus at St. Pancras and from Kings Cross Station. We are a short tube journey from Victoria Station (10 minutes) for people arriving from Gatwick and we are about 10 minutes (by tube) from Paddington Station for people arriving on the Heathrow Express.
