The NeighborhoodThe Altitude Point serviced apartments are situated in a superb location for any traveler to London, no matter how those visitors intend to spend their time. For those in the city as tourists, the nearby neighbourhood of Whitechapel is full of trendy restaurants and bars, not to mention being famous as the hunting ground for the mysterious Jack the Ripper. On Sundays, the eclectic Spitalfields Market, located toward Shoreditch to the north, is open and waiting to be enjoyed. Not far to the south rests Tower Hill, home of the iconic, historic structures: the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The area of Aldgate is also a convenient location for corporate visitors to London. LOCATION AND ATTRACTIONS The apartment is well served by public transport links which include Tower Hill and Aldgate East tube stations which are within the central Zone 1 network and allow easy access to London’s West End, Bond Street, Oxford Street, Covent Garden and the South Bank just to name a few. Numerous bus stops and the Docklands Light Railway are also within a short walk giving you some further transport options if you need them. A little closer to home there is also a wealth of attractions and points of interest all within walking distance of the flat. These include St Katherine’s Docks which is a wonderfully quiet waterside enclave in the city which hosts numerous bars and restaurants, and also the uber-trendy areas of Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Shoreditch which are quite possibly the trendiest parts of London and also house a wealth of boutique and vintage shops, buzzing bars, cool restaurants and lively nightlife. Also worth a special mention is that directly next to the flat lies one of London’s best kept secrets - Wiltons Music Hall which is the world’s oldest surviving example of an original music hall and host’s regular plays and shows as well as a wine bar. You can arrive or depart any day of the week. Imagine walking into a two bedroom hotel suite with crisp clean white bed linen, fluffy white towels, hairdryers, a trouser press, suitcase stands, your own fully equipped kitchen and a separate lounge/dining room. You'll also have fast free WiFi as well as tea, Nespresso coffee and breakfast cereals provided, as well as personal soaps, toilet paper, kitchen cleaning products, dishwasher tablets and washing machine consumables. There's even a small Tesco store next door with an ATM. Please let me know at time of booking whether you want the second bedroom prepared with two 3' single beds or zipped together to make a 6' super king-size bed. I use the apartment as my home when I'm in London and it's available exclusively to guests when I'm not there - please check the calendar for availability. The flat is always available on an exclusive use basis. This quiet top floor penthouse apartment is in a modern, purpose built block served with 2 lifts and a large light welcoming lobby area. It has a large master bedroom with a 6' super king-size bed with an individual pocket sprung Vi-Spring Baronet mattress, a second bedroom with two 3' single beds which can be zipped together to make another 6' super king-size bed (just let me know beforehand how you want the beds arranged for your stay), a fully equipped kitchen with a large fridge/freezer providing chilled filtered water and ice cubes, an iron and ironing board, trouser press, a bathroom with jacuzzi bath and shower, and a comfortable lounge/diner boasting a 46" TV with BT Vision box and DVD player. A small Tesco's supermarket for your food essentials is right next-door, along with a Nat West cash machine. Starbucks or Pret are 1 minute walk at the end of the street. Eating out locally? All the places below are 2 - 10 minute walk. -------------------------- Next to London Bridge and the Tower of London on the North West side you'll find a Wagamama for noodles, a Bodeans for ribs and BBQ, and a Starbucks. Charming and picturesque St Katherine Docks over the road on the North East side of the bridge has a super range of bars and restaurants - St Katharine Docks is one of the best-kept secret locations in Central London and has a great atmosphere. Brick Lane's curry houses are a 10 minute walk North East of the flat. If you'd like a spectacular view while you dine a 10 minute walk will take you to the Heron Tower's two restaurants or sky bar - at 175 metres above the city the views are stunning! The restaurants are called Sushi Samba and the Duck and Waffle (note - no trainer style shoes allowed). Or head south of the river over Tower Bridge, down the steps and turn left and you'll find Le Pont de la Tour on the river bank. Famous for top end French cuisine Pont de la Tour has fantastic views of the Bridge. Alternatively go down the steps and turn right to walk past City Hall and the Scoop amphitheatre towards HMS Belfast moored on the south bank and you'll find Gaucho, Dim T, Strada, Pod, Pret, a Bagel Street deli and an M&S simply food. Every budget catered for... Shopping? --------------- Oxford Circus is 19 minutes on the tube in one direction and the new Westfield shopping centre in Stratford next to the Olympic Park is 13 minutes in the other direction. Sightseeing? ------------------ Tower Bridge Exhibition is fascinating (you can walk right across the top and go down and see the engines that lift the bascules). A 20 minute walk south over Tower Bridge and along the south bank past the Scoop amphitheatre and HMS Belfast will find you in Borough Market, London’s most renowned food market with exceptional British and international produce. Continue a bit further and you'll pass a replica of Sir Francis Drakes' Golden Hinde, The Clink - England's first prison, the Globe Theatre, Tate Modern and then the footbridge back over the Thames towards St Paul’s cathedral. Going east, Greenwich is a 20 minute ride on the River Taxi which stops right in front of the Tower of London or an easy trip on the DLR through Canary Wharf. The Royal Observatory, home of Greenwich Mean Time and the Prime Meridian line was founded by Charles II in 1675 and is, by international decree, the official starting point for each new day, year and millennium (at the stroke of midnight GMT is measured from the Prime Meridian). Explore all of London - Oxford Street, the West End theatres, Buckingham Palace, Natural History Museum, Science Museum, the V&A, the Royal Parks (boats on the Serpentine). All are easily accessible by tube, regular or open top bus, black cab, river taxi or even Boris bikes! Anyone can hire Boris bikes... just pop your debit or credit card in the machine next to the bikes and follow the instructions. Or pick up a map in the flat and walk. Nowhere is far away! The flat is in Zone 1 on the London Underground. Tower Hill tube station (green/district line and yellow/circle line underground trains) is just 2-3 minutes' walk; Tower gateway DLR is even closer. London Bridge Station is a 20-minute walk or about a £6 taxi ride and Fenchurch Street station is a 5-minute walk. River Taxis are available from Tower Pier, which is right next to the Tower of London and a short 6 minute walk from the flat. Several Boris bike racks are just a couple of minutes away too! Arriving by air or Eurostar? ------------------------------------- From Gatwick airport it is only 30 minutes on the train to London Bridge station (Southern or First Capital Connect trains run 2-3 times an hour) or take a Gatwick Express train to Victoria station. From London City airport it is about 20 minutes on the DLR to Tower Gateway and the flat is then a 3 minute walk. From Heathrow it is about an hour by tube and train via Paddington station to Tower Hill tube station. If you are arriving on Eurostar into St Pancras you'll need the circle underground train from St Pancras to Tower Hill which will take you about 20 minutes.     The SpaceWe are very excited to share with you our lovely brand new flat, in the heart of East London. It has been decorated showing our personality and oozes culture- a little haven away from the busy streets. There are two spacious double bedrooms, the master bedroom is an ensuite and there is a second bathroom in the corridor. We have underfloor heating throughout the flat and air conditioning in the living room and master bedroom. The walls are covered in paintings and artwork we have collected over time which reflect our personality and culture. The ensuite bathroom has a walk in shower and the other a walk in shower and a tub to run yourself a hot bath. We can provide shampoo, shower gel, hand soap and a hairdryer if required. The combined Living/Kitchen has lots of space to relax in, with a 55” flatscreen Smart TV that has Netflix, Amazon Instant video and other entertainment apps that you can sign in to. You are welcome to use the kitchen and utensils to cook yourself, if you can resist the temptation of the all the fantastic restaurants and cafes in the local area (see below for some of my personal favourites). One of the best features of the flat is the fantastic roof space, up on the 25th Floor you will have access to a spectacular view across London. Please note that this is space communal and shared with my neighbours. To sleep additional guests (5 & 6) the couch is comfortable for one person to sleep on and we have a single mattress topper that goes on the floor of the living room for one more extra person, ideal if you have a couple of children travelling with you! Do get in touch about availability, we have a separate listing for our guest bedroom so updating the calendar for two overlapping listings is a bit tricky. We can be flexible with check in as we have a 24 x 7 concierge service who can hand over the keys and with check out as well as long as there is no guest checking in the same day. Guest AccessThe entire flat is for your use but some of our wardrobes and cupboards are locked. The NeighborhoodThe flat is very close to Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations (less than a 5 minute walk). It is a 10 minute walk to Liverpool Street and a 12 minute walk to Shoreditch High Street stations. With so many great transport links it makes getting anywhere else in London is a breeze. Built in the 1950's the flats are typical of London housing of that that era with big spacious rooms and large windows that look out to the communal raised walkway garden area. The furniture is a mixture of things we love from different eras, collected over the years, giving the home an eclectic feel reflective of the area we live in. The lounge is large and bright with a big sofa to relax on and you'll have access to our Chromecast television, record player and wifi in here. If on business then you'll be able to work away at the desk and link up to our printer. This is also where a third guest could bed down for the night. The bedroom is another large room, with a very large bed! This is our home so some of the drawers will have our things in but we'll be sure to make plenty of room for your stuff too. If you decide to eat in, the kitchen has everything you need. We love to cook, and you are free to use anything of our cooking equipment. Or if you feel like it just grab some plates and tuck into any one of then brilliant delivery services that are local. We'll leave you a list. The hot water is instant and never ending, so multiple showers in the morning won't be a problem. Our bathroom serves us perfectly but do be aware it's a little dated, quite basic and could do with some TLC from our landlord. Guest AccessOur home will be all yours for the duration of your stay. For the foodies, we are within walking distance of some of the best that London has to offer such as St Johns Bread and Wine, Brick Lanes curry houses (although we recommend Tayaabs in Whitechapel, also a short walk away), The Clove Club and Tonkatsu to name just a few of our favourites. Or you can walk in the other direction, across the river, for half an hour and you'll find yourself in Borough Market or the even cuter Maltby Street Market. Shoreditch is just a short walk away, for those looking for a fun night out. For Dalston just hop on a bus or, if you want to drink in the immediate area The Culpepper, The Bell and Discount Suit Company are all (happily) our neighbours. We are also right on the edge of what is known as 'the square mile', so if you walk for just a few minutes towards the west you'll find yourself in the dizzying heights of the city. You can see the Gherkin from our front door! And in amongst the city you'll find secret gems such as St Dunstan's in the East. A beautiful garden you'll have all to yourself. He will also be on his holidays when you visit and everything will be clean as a whistle for you but for those that have extreme allergies you might want to be aware of this fact.

Getting AroundI recommend Pub hopping in Wapping High Street. If you like history and want to drink in medieval times in old public houses, then it is a great place to visit. Each pub has a story to tell. If you want to eat with style and more history, then you must visit St Katharine's Dock. It has plenty of restaurants and cafes with a view of luxury and old pirate boats furthermore you can see the 18th century Tower Bridge while having your meal. We have 4 metro stations max 5 mins walk and 1 rail station 4 mins walk and bus stop near the flat.
