LOCATION: A beautifully renovated apartment situated in a 16th Century National Landmark Building entered form a Charming Piazza and facing the marvelous Spada Palace, built in 1540 and restored to its original state as projected by Francesco Borromini. Borromini created, among other things, a masterpiece of trompe-l’oeil false perspective where the sequence of columns of decreasing height and the floor that rises create the optical illusion of a long tunnel, at the end of which, in a sunlit garden, is a sculpture that appears natural size, while in reality it is only 60 cm high. The sumptuously decorated sculptural façade is in the Mannerist style and the courtyard with sculptures in niches framed by garlands of flowers and fruit, and grotesque scenes of symbolic meaning in relief between the small windows of the mezzanine, make it the richest surviving facade of the Roman Cinquecento remaining intact.
