Chorus More theatrical than a season of Shakespeare, Nottingham Place fascinates from the very first act. Buddhas meet straw boaters, rotary telephones rub up against rolltop baths – at first glance, you may mistake this home for a surreal stage set. The kitchen is a sun-caressed farmhouse, the sitting room classic and eclectic by turns, the patio a one-man show of flowery plant-pots, hanging lanterns and fabulous disco balls. But don’t applaud just yet, since this show hasn’t finished its run. Marylebone makes the perfect scene for the sophisticated shopper in you, while theatregoers throng nightly to the playhouses of the West End… Two-hander Your host is a film director whose work takes him around the world. His lives here with his daughter, and they love Marylebone’s café culture. Nottingham Street has been his ‘eccentric’ project, and we can safely declare it a successful one. Stage is set Like every fine production, this home has character and individuality in spades. The story starts in the sitting room, where there’s a cushy black sofa on which to watch the drama unfold. Statues scamper across the fireplace, eastern ornaments enliven the walls and, by the light of a bay window, a grand piano strikes a noble note. Linger until it’s time for the curtain, or flow into the farmhouse of a kitchen. Here you’ve a huge range oven, a butcher’s block and lots of delicious daylight to ensure every meal is a hit, particularly when taken at the wooden table. There’s something deeply alluring about the terrace, all hanging plants, lanterns and exotic weaves, and you won’t find a more beautiful scene for your nightcap. The bathroom breathes pomp and romance, thanks to its baroque mirror, rolltop bath and fetching candlesticks. As for the bedroom, we think you’ll be captivated by its curios and comforted by our ever-crisp linen. Exeunt omnes Boutiques don’t come much sweeter than those lining Marylebone High Street, and you’ll soon happen across the famous flagship stores of Oxford Street. Go boating in Regent’s Park, see the old masters at the Wallace Collection or follow the bright lights into the West End. Here you’ve the bars of Soho, the eateries of Covent Garden and, of course, the star-studded theatres of Shaftesbury Avenue and beyond. Additional amenities include: piano, iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, coffee machine, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges. Early cancellation. If you cancel at least 2 weeks before you are due to arrive, we will charge you 50% of the cost of your stay. Late cancellation. We’ll be as flexible as we can if you need to cancel. However, once you’re within two weeks of the start of your stay, we can’t refund your booking. If you have any immediate questions, please contact us directly. Chorus More theatrical than a season of Shakespeare, Nottingham Place fascinates from the very first act. The SpaceThe flat is very spacious, providing everything for a perfect stay in London. You will have access to the whole apartment. I will welcome my guest, show and explain the apartment and then leave. Books with recommendations for London are provided. Getting around London from the house We are very well served by public transport. Baker Street station is a 5 minute walk away and is on the Baker loo (brown) line, Hammersmith & City (Pink) line Circle (Yellow) line and Metropolitan (purple) line There are many buses close by also (please see the bus map in the folder). (website hidden) Type in W1U 5LB and it will show you all the busses in the locality. For travel on the buses and underground the most economical way is to buy an Oyster card. (You will pay double the fare if you pay by cash.) You can buy these from any newsagent. It will cost you £3 for the card purchase and then top the card up with cash or a credit card by as much as you like. There is also a visitors Oyster card ((website hidden)), which costs £2 but at the moment it’s only available from Gatwick airports, on the Eurostar and at some overseas travel agents. The card automatically works out how much to charge according to your journeys throughout the day. Children travel either free or discounted according to their age. Children up to 10 years old travel free on busses and underground when accompanied by an adult with an Oyster card. Taxis and car services You can easily pick up one of London's famous black taxis by strolling down the street and raising your arm. (Note that the system works the opposite way to taxis in New York: when the light's on, it means the taxi is available for hire. No light, no pickup.) Most taxis seat five passengers, and some carry six. Alternatively, you can simply call for a pickup from our reliable local car services, (see above). If you haven't been in London recently, it's worth knowing that these car services, (known as minicabs), are now regulated by the Mayor of London, and they're safe and dependable. Swinging London Popping with colour, and boasting some of the most fabulous furniture we’re seen in a while, Harley House is a genuinely fun place. A ground floor flat with the space and luminosity of a penthouse, the décor here may be knowingly retro, but when it comes to technology, this home is right up to date- from the lighting system to the powerful stereo. So whether you’re listening to The Beatles or Led Zeppelin, Harley House is the place to get your groove on. And with Regent’s Park a couple of minutes away and central London within walking distance, we think you’ll be feeling very groovy indeed. Factory girl Your hostess was born in California and came to London to pursue a career as a producer. Now, after years working in the theatre, and on both sides of the camera, she works as a psychotherapist. Counter culture Get ready for a style revolution. The main living space is completely open-plan, designed and adapted by your hostess when she first took up residence. Stroll through the vast open rooms and watch acid bright colours pop everywhere against the original parquet floors. Relax on the sofa with a Sunday paper, peruse a book from the library in the Eames chair or bake something delicious in the sleek black kitchen. The uber-hip dining table seats eight, and you’ll find that the space is wonderfully contemporary and uncluttered. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, and a huge ensuite reminiscent of a five star hotel. John Lennon presides over the first of three more double bedrooms, and next door there’s an ensuite with limestone tiles and a free-standing bath. The third room is glamly clad in princess-pink, with a rosy ensuite and artwork celebrating Marilyn Monroe. And there’s one more, with an ensuite splashed with lime green, and a collection of Hendrix-esque electric guitars. Beyond retro Grab your roller skates and join the kids in Regent’s Park, just over the road, or head to Marylebone High Street for some of London’s nicest shops and cafes. Then, it’s on to Soho and Carnaby Street, or perhaps Covent Garden. Much of central London is within walking distance, or the tube from Regent’s Park to Piccadilly Circus takes a swift four minutes. Additional amenities include: iron & ironing board, hob, toiletries, cafetiere, music player, hairdryer, onefinestay iphone. Cancellation Policy No-quibble cool-off period. Provided you book more than seven days before the start of your stay, you can cancel your booking no questions asked within 24 hours of making it, and we will refund 100% of any charges.
