Very happy to answer any question in any form and find that speaking over the phone speeds things up greatly! The NeighborhoodClose to London Bridge and Tower Bridge, the shadow of the Shard, Bermondsey is an area that has changed greatly over the last 10 -15 years and just keeps on getting better. It is one of the most historic parts of London and is vibrant and dynamic and has become a gastromic centre with Borough Market, Maltby Street and Spa Tetminus on the doorstep and at least six craft breweries and gin distilleries!! Its also close to the City and Canary Wharf with good access to the West End So whether its business or leisure or some of each its right there for you! The flat is in the heart of Shad Thames, where many flats and coffee shops have been converted from old spice warehouses. Bermondsey Street and Bermondsey Square are close by and have fabulous restaurants, bars, a picture house cinema, a farmers market and on Saturday where you can pick up great fresh artisan food. The bus stop also has the number 78 bus that takes you to Tower Bridge and into the heart of the City (Liverpool Street Station). London Bridge is a major transport hub that connects the Jubilee and Northern Lines and enables fast and frequent services to almost anywhere is London, but is only two stops from Canary Wharf. London Bridge is also a major over ground station that serves most of Kent and Sussex including frequent trains to Gatwick Airport. It is also close to the river boat which makes a nice relaxed alternative. Because its in Zone 1, its also very easy to walk to may attractions as well. Other Things to NoteThe flat is on the 4th and 5th floors with no lift. I have never found it an issue but if you're not very mobile it may not be the place for you.

The SpaceYour super-large room is newly designer-refurbished and decorated and has one double bed, two single beds, a desk and a flat-screen TV, along with huge windows. There is free wi-fi throughout the building. There are two shared bathrooms (both with toilets) as well as a separate toilet. The room is super quiet. As well as the pub itself and the sun-soaked garden, our head chef Lisa serves up a superb menu of modern British cuisine including comforting Sunday roasts, our famous burgers and finger-licking pizza from the wood-fired oven. The menu changes daily, using local traders and suppliers where we can and buying with discernment. We offer a great selection of local craft and international beers, along with a small but perfectly formed wine list, and great coffee. The pub kitchen is open for dinner Monday to Thursday, and all-day from midday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast is not included; there are cafes and supermarkets nearby. Guest AccessGuests have access to tea and coffee making facilities and a small refrigerator. There is free wi-fi throughout the building. All rooms have flat-screen TVs. The Grange Pub is open daily from 15.00 Monday to Thursday, and from midday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Guest access out of hours is via a code-operated door. Interaction with GuestsThe Grange is Australian-owned, so we’re more than happy to share our ideas on what to do in London through different eyes. There are just so many different ways to experience London! I will usually be around to check you in, or it will be one of the friendly staff. If you require any assistance at other times, please just ask the staff. The NeighborhoodBermondsey is located in SE1, Central London, just across the famous Tower Bridge from the City of London. The area is home to Southwark Cathedral, Borough Market and Maltby Street Market, The Shard, hip Bermondsey Street, along with quite a few more interesting and historic places. Getting AroundThe Grange is about half a mile (800m) from Tower Bridge. Two bus routes stop right at the door: the 78 bus (route: Nunhead – The Grange – Shoreditch) will take you to straight to happening Shoreditch, while the 1 Bus (Canada Water – The Grange – Tottenham Court Road) gets you door-to-door to Soho and the West End. The ever-useful N1 (one of London’s famous night buses!) travels from the West End and will get you safely back home at all hours. Bermondsey tube station (Underground: Jubilee Line) is a 10 minute walk, and we’re a 20 minute walk to London Bridge Station which has both tube and National Rail links. If you’re flying into London, try and come to Gatwick (LGW) as that's about 30 minutes by train to London Bridge. In our opinion this is easily the fastest way into Central London and your stay at The Grange. There are a couple of Santander Cycle Hire stations within 5 minutes’ walk of the pub. Other Things to NoteIf you need it, we can arrange parking. That's amazing for Central London.

The SpaceWhen not being used for Air B&B this is my yoga / massage practice room. It is a calming space in a peaceful flat. The room has a brand new futon bed, bedside table with lamp and i-pod doc. You are welcome to use the yoga equipment and I've got lots of bolsters for restorative yoga - which is great after traveling! Guest AccessYou are welcome to use the rest of the flat including the living room (which also has a sofa bed that can accommodate another two guests), the balcony, bathroom (including big bath for relaxing in) and spacious kitchen with breakfast bar. Interaction with GuestsI am a friendly host and being a born and bred Londoner I can advise on lots of local things to do, best restaurants, galleries, local walks etc. and am happy to chat and have a coffee with you. However, if you’d prefer your privacy I will also respect that. I teach on quite a few evenings a week so often you’ll have the place to yourself. The NeighborhoodBermondsey is one of the most interesting and historical neighborhoods in London. From my flat you can walk to many famous attractions including Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, the Shard, the Globe, the Tate Modern and the Design Museum. There are also lots of smaller quirky attractions such as the Fashion and Textiles Museum, the Brunel Museum and the Old Operating Theater Museum. The area is a foodies paradise and on Saturday and Sunday just 5 mins walk is Maltby Street food market and 15 mins walk to Borough Market. Bermondsey Street is full of great and award winning restaurants such as Zucca and Pizzaro. There are also lots of great little independent shops, bars and cafes and a real neighborhood feel. Getting AroundMy home has great public transport links with the nearest underground stations being London Bridge and Borough and I provide guest Oyster cards and maps to make getting around really easy. My home is also served by quite a few bus routes including the 188 which goes directly to the Waterloo, Southbank and the British Museum, the 42 which goes to Liverpool Street Station and Shoreditch, and the C10 for the Houses of Parliament and Victoria Station. If you are coming into London Gatwick or Luton there are direct trains to London Bridge and from Standsted the quickest and cheapest route is to take the national express coach to Stratford and then the Jubilee line to London Bridge. If you would like to drive there is free parking at weekends and paid for parking in the week just outside my home. Other Things to NoteI am a yoga teacher and Thai massage therapist so if you are feeling travel weary you can arrange a 1-2-1 yoga class or massage by prior appointment. You would also be welcome to attend one of my local public classes.

Interaction with GuestsOur small, dedicated team is always just an email or phone call away, in case you need us during your stay. The NeighborhoodThe Ivy Lettings Team Explores Tower Bridge: History, Architecture (and Groceries!) Named elliptically after the St John at Thames Church, which once stood nearby, Shad Thames was not always the bustling hurly-burly of cosmopolitan sophistication and joie de vivre with which it is now synonymous. Completely the opposite in fact: it was originally a haven of bucolic charm, consisting of a large riparian field upon which horses and cattle grazed in pastoral tranquility. However, during the industrial revolution of the nineteenth century, this Arcadia was turned on its head, as large warehouses were built in which to store teas, coffee and fine spices imported from all over the Empire. The scent of spice still lingers on in the evocative names of the now converted buildings: Tamarind, Cinnamon, Cardamom, Fennel, Ginger, Cumin, Coriander and Anise, to list but a few. Nowadays, the chimney sweeps and street urchins of Dickens’ London have been replaced by City workers and young professionals – this really is the place to be. The renowned Pont de la Tour restaurant is a few minutes away, and well worth a visit, while the Design Museum is on your doorstep. A little down river, you will find the Tate Modern, and almost rubbing shoulders, Shakespeare’s Globe, where you can spend many a happy summer evening under the stars, transported to the Forest of Arden, Egypt, or the Blasted Heath by the eternal strains of the Bard. You have an excellent view of Tower Bridge, which is a stone’s throw from the vacation rental, and this iconic London landmark spans the Thames with impressive majesty – dull would he be of soul who could pass it by! The Tower of London, erstwhile prison and palace, stands colossal against the London horizon, and rings with the echoes of the great, the good and the wicked that people Britain’s history. This is well worth a visit; the ceremony of the keys takes place every night to this day; the crown jewels lie bewitchingly, restored from the thieving hands of the sanguine criminal, Colonel Blood; guided tours will give you a fascinating and unforgettable insight into the country’s history, and ravens daily hold their raucous parliament. All in all, an experience not to be missed. This London holiday home is within convenient walking distance from multiple grocery stores, ATMs and charming little coffee shops, with the greatest draw its proximity to the fabulous and unique Borough Market. The nearest tube station is Tower Bridge, allowing easy access to the rest of London and a 15 minute journey to the West End. Getting AroundHere are travelling times to some popular destinations: Nearest station (London Bridge): 10 min (walk) Westminster (for Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square): 10 min (tube) West End (for The Theatre District, Covent Garden, Leicester Square): 15 min (tube) South Kensington (for the V&A, Science & Natural History museums): 20 min (tube) Other Things to NotePlease note: - lead guest must be 30 or older - strictly no smoking or pets - copy of passport of lead guest required before arrival

The SpaceOne bedroom flat in a new block just south of Tower Bridge. The flat is roomy with large kitchen/lounge area, separate bedroom, bathroom and utility cupboard with washing machine. There is a small balcony overlooking a private courtyard. There is a sofa bed in the living room which could accommodate two people at a pinch, so the flat could just about house four people, but I'm not sure how comfortable that would be, so I've listed it as accommodation for three. If you have any questions, just ask. The flat is very centrally located. Bermondsey tube station is a ten minute walk away so you can get into Central London in twenty minutes. You're also just fifteen minutes walk from London Bridge for further transport options. Alternatively, Tate Modern is a lovely half hour walk along the river from the flat. Bermondsey is a fantastic base for a stay in London - you're a five minute walk away from some of London's best and best value restaurants on Bermondsey Street, and the area is full of historic charm. On Saturday mornings, one of London's best food markets sets up just outside, while Borough Market, one of London's most famous historic food markets, is a fifteen minute walk away near London Bridge. The area is great for art enthusiasts - the White Cube gallery moved into Bermondsey Street last year, and has shown Gilbert & George, Damien Hirst and Bruce Naumann so far. Tate Modern is a half hour walk away, and there are smaller gallery spaces dotted around. One word of warning: the flat is right next to the railway line running out of London Bridge station. The flat's well soundproofed, and I find what sound does come in from the passing trains quite comforting, but I completely understand it may not be to everyone's taste. I will leave a detailed briefing book listing things to do, places to eat etc for guests to use, and I hope to be able to meet you to hand over keys and show you the flat. I work on the other side of London, but I'm generally available on the end of a phone, and I can be with you by the end of the day if you have any problems. I love living in Bermondsey, and I want to share that feeling with my guests, so you can rely on me to work hard to ensure that you do.

The SpaceCome and stay in my unique London townhouse. A piece of history in trendy Bermondsey, the house dates back to the 1790s. It is ideally situated for the City, West End and Canary Wharf, so makes a great base for sight-seeing, holidays and week-end breaks and is also convenient for those visiting or working in London’s business districts. (Before booking the flat, please read the house rules to make sure the apartment suits your needs.) ACCOMMODATION You will have the entire top floor (2nd floor) of the house (70m2/750 sq. ft) to yourselves. You just share the front door to the house and the stairs. It should feel a bit like staying in a boutique aparthotel! Completely refurbished, but at the same time retaining the original period features, the flat sleeps four people comfortably. There are two double bedrooms which can be made up with superking size double beds or twin beds as required. The rear bedroom has a lovely sunny south facing balcony overlooking the gardens below, which is perfect for taking breakfast on or catching the last rays of sun with an early evening drink in summer. All the beds have pocket-sprung mattresses which should give you a fantastic night's sleep. The new bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower, soaps, shampoo and towels. The heated towel rail means that the bathroom is always cosy and that your towels are warm and dry. You have exclusive use of a large, well-equipped, open-plan kitchen/living room with 32 inch television, dishwasher, fridge, gas/electric cooker and oven as well as a stylish and incredibly comfortable sofa to relax on after a hard day’s sight-seeing. You also have free wifi access. The flat has its own central-heating system which you can switch on or off as needed. Each radiator has a thermostat meaning that you can control the temperature of every room individually. The flat does not have air-conditioning but I provide fans in the summer and all the windows can be opened easily. In addition to the above, the flat has a hair dryer, toaster, kettle, iron and ironing board. There is no washing machine in the flat, however, for guests staying longer than 1 week, it is possible to use my washing machine which can be found on the lower ground floor. There is no dryer but I can provide airers for hanging your washing on in the flat. Just ask! BED LINEN AND CLEANING Bed linen and towels are provided. Weekly cleaning and linen change for stays of over a week. EXTRA GUESTS I'm afraid that no extra guests can be accommodated. The maximum number of people who can stay at one time is 4. Interaction with GuestsI am usually around, a floor or two below, to give advice on places to eat and shop, and to answer any questions you might have. At the same time, you are totally independent on your own floor and can make yourselves completely at home, cook dinner, watch TV or just chill with a book or magazine. The NeighborhoodEATING AND DRINKING You have lots of choice when it comes to places to eat nearby, from “Manze’s”, London’s oldest surviving eel and pie shop, to the famous “Pont de la Tour” with its amazing views of the river and Tower Bridge. You’ll find the award winning cafe, “The Watch House”, and acclaimed tapas bars, “Jose” and "Pizarro", on fashionable Bermondsey Street as well as many other great restaurants, cafes and pubs too numerous to name here. For one of the most exciting views in London, why not go for breakfast or cocktails in the Atrium Bar on the 31st floor of The Shard? On the other hand, if you prefer to eat at home but are too tired to cook, there’s a Chinese takeaway/fish and chip shop opposite the house. The portions are huge! Or if you like your food a bit spicier, there’s an excellent Indian takeaway just along the street. You have your own well-equipped kitchen which means that you can cater for yourselves. Borough Market, known as “London’s larder”, is in walking distance and comes to life from Wednesday to Saturday. Here you can find everything from the most delicious British cheeses to fresh fish and game. Other great places to shop for food nearby include the markets on Maltby Street, Rope Walk, Spa Terminus and Bermondsey Square which are held on Saturday mornings, all of which are just a 5 minute walk away. If all that shopping has made you thirsty, you can stop off for a glass or two of natural wine at “40 Maltby Street” and enjoy some delicious seasonal food at the same time. They also sell reasonably priced bottles to take away. As well as all of the above, there is a small grocery shop opposite the house which opens every day from early morning until late and a Sainsbury's local supermarket a street away. There are several other supermarkets within walking distance including a huge Tesco. SEE THE SIGHTS Take a stroll along the banks of the Thames to Tate Modern and Shakepeare’s Globe Theatre, or visit White Cube on Bermondsey Street, the biggest private contemporary art space in Europe. Find out how it feels to look down on London from the tallest building in Europe, The Shard, which is open to the public and is a short walk away at London Bridge. If you are after some traditional sight-seeing, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are close by, or take a boat trip down the Thames to historic Greenwich or upstream to Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament. Getting AroundTRANSPORT Buses stop every few minutes just in front of the house The Number 1 takes you to the West End and its theatres and shops in 20 - 30 minutes. It also runs every 30 minutes throughout the night. The 78 goes to super-trendy Shoreditch and London's main business quarter, the City, via Tower Bridge (10 minutes) and Liverpool Street station (20 minutes). Bermondsey underground station is on the Jubilee line and is a 10 minute walk away. It’s just two stops to the business district of Canary Wharf, four stops to Westminster and six stops to Bond Street which can be reached door to door from the house in about 30 minutes.
