The SpaceOur cute and charming mid-century apartment has a fully fitted kitchen (large fridge-freezer, no dishwasher), bathroom with tub, sizeable bedroom with full-sized double bed, lots of storage and leafy views from the sunlit living room.
Double sofa-bed in the living room easily clicks into place.
A small, quiet building with friendly neighbours, this is a classic LA apartment with through sunlight (but not south facing, so it rarely gets hot). We have A/C and fans for the summer heat, and mosquito nets on the living room and kitchen windows and door, as well as a space heater to warm a room if the evenings get chilly (though you'll never need this in the daytime in LA, even in winter!).
The apartment comes with a parking spot, and there is a washing machine in the building (ask us to leave the key), as well as some friendly rabbits and cats downstairs!
The apartment has lots of charming features (arches, alcoves, a chrome stove, period tiling, hardwood floors) and is fully furnished to our perhaps a little eccentric tastes (see photos), as well as with lots of lovely plants. If you’re not sure if we’ve got something, please feel free to ask. Guest AccessYou would have the run of the whole place, plus a parking spot and the laundry room downstairs (it takes quarters, please ask us to leave you the key if you will be needing it).
We provide clean sheets and toilet paper, feel free to use our cutlery, pots and pans and any basic supplies (olive oil, coffee, etc.). We will leave you wardrobe and cupboard space to use! If you have any special needs or requests, let us know and we will do our best to meet them. Interaction with GuestsWe aim to be here to give you the keys and show you the place upon arrival, if for some reason you are arriving much later than we leave, a friend will come to let you in and give you the keys. We will always be reachable by phone or email during your stay, and will have friends in town that can come and help if necessary!

Hablamos español. The NeighborhoodWe’re located between two of LA’s best neighbourhoods: Silver Lake and Los Feliz. Trendy Sunset Junction with Intelligentsia coffee shop, the cheese store and Café Stella (French restaurant and wine bar) is just five minutes’ walk, and the Mexican shops and taquerias of Virgil avenue are a block away - where you can also find one of LA’s most reputed brunch spots, Sqirl!
Silver Lake’s leafy hills are filled with LA’s famous palm trees, cacti and gorgeous houses, and some of the city’s best restaurants and bars line Sunset Boulevard, an easy walk or drive away.
Los Feliz offers a walkable village atmosphere along Vermont ave, Hillhurst ave and Hollywood boulevard, with sidewalk cafés, restaurants, wine bars, vintage stores and bookshops.
The wonderful hills, spectacular views and open spaces of Griffith Park are less than ten minutes away by car - the USA’s largest city park has seemingly endless hiking opportunities, as well as the Griffith Observatory, Greek Theater and LA Zoo.
A little further away are the bright lights of Hollywood, the alternative shops and hip nightlife of Echo Park, and the burgeoning arts, restaurant, shopping and bar scene downtown and in the neighbouring arts district. This is a great location for all LA has to offer! Getting AroundIn a city famous for driving, there are great public transit links! The metro (Vermont/Sunset, on the red line) is less than ten minutes’ walk away giving fast, easy access to Hollywood and Downtown and onwards connections to Santa Monica (the beach!) and much of the rest of the city. North-south buses run along Vermont and east-west (Santa Monica - Beverly Hills - West Hollywood - Hollywood - Echo Park - Downtown) buses along Santa Monica and Sunset.
If you’ll be coming with a car, the 101 freeway is a three-minute drive from the apartment, connecting to the whole LA area freeway network. Hollywood is a ten-minute drive, as are all spots Los Feliz, Silver Lake and Echo Park, downtown in fifteen minutes away (except at rush hour), and Venice, Santa Monica, Malibu and their beaches are around 40 minutes to one hour’s drive, traffic dependent. Other Things to NoteThis is not a party apartment, we have neighbours, and we are all respectful of one another. No one will mind you listening to music or having drinks in the evening, or chatting on the terrace in front of the living room (outdoor chairs provided) but please, no parties. There are plenty of bars and clubs in the surrounding neighbourhoods, we can give you some recommendations if you like!
The building is non-smoking (though outside or in the parking lot should not bother anyone).
The downside: We love our apartment and think it’s a wonderful place for a stay in a real home and a great neighbourhood, and we hope that you will enjoy it two. However, we would like to point out a couple of things:
The lovely ‘50s chrome stove is a period piece and sometimes needs a couple of attempts to get the gas going (it does work and isn’t dangerous - we will leave you instructions), so don’t expect a newly installed 21st-century stove!
We have a dog (who will of course be taking away with us), we will thoroughly clean the apartment before your visit, but it is of course possible that there will be a few dog hairs here and there so if you have an allergy, beware!
Finally, like many LA buildings of its age, our building does sometimes have cockroaches. The apartment certainly is not infested, and we will clean and spray the whole place before leaving it for you, but cannot guarantee that there will not be any stray roaches during your stay (if there are, they are usually around the sink at night, especially if there are unwashed dishes). For this reason we have lowered the price compared to similar properties in the neighbourhood, it should not be a big problem, but if you are terrified by the sight of a cockroach then you should maybe think twice about our apartment.
These (for us, minor) issues aside, this is a wonderful home in a great neighbourhood with great road and transit connections to get the best out of your stay in LA!
