The SpaceYou’ll stay in a medium-sized private bedroom with a clean, en suite bathroom. Connected to the bathroom is an office space which you are welcome to use. The home was completely flipped in Fall 2015, so all appliances are brand new while the original wood flooring was maintained. The bedroom has a queen size bed and linens, the bathroom has a luxurious rainfall showerhead, and the office is well lit and quiet. Guest AccessYou’ll have access to the entire house and backyard, except for the master bedroom and bathroom. There is ample street parking. Our front door has a keypad lock, so you’ll be able to come and go as you please 24/7. The bedroom room enters into the common room, but we’re pretty quiet hosts and rarely at home. You’ll have full access to the common spaces, kitchen (all brand new appliances), and backyard (did we mention the fire pit for those cold LA nights?). Interaction with GuestsJennie & Brian live in this home. We both hold 9am-5pm jobs so we are almost never home during the day. We also lead busy lives and sometimes are home in the evenings, sometimes not. Most importantly, we both love our city and are happy to recommend great places to eat, drink, and explore, and figure out the best way to get there through LA’s traffic. The NeighborhoodMid-City Los Angeles is a quiet pocket in the the middle of a busy city. We’re conveniently located close to the I-10 freeway but not close enough that you can hear it. Our neighborhood is residential, safe, and family-oriented, and bordered on all sides by exciting neighborhoods. We're within a 10-minute walk from some hidden gems serving delicious Peruvian, Mexican, Salvadoran, and pizza, as well as some up and coming art galleries.
Some popular destinations are: Culver City (3 miles), Baldwin Hills (3 mi) Koreatown (4 mi), USC (4 mi), Hollywood (5 mi), Downtown LA (6 mi), Beverly Hills/West Hollywood (6 mi), Venice Beach (9 mi), Universal Studios (9 mi), UCLA (10 mi), and Santa Monica (10 mi). Getting AroundOur two bicycles are free to use to explore nearby! Riding at a normal pace, you can get to Hollywood, Culver City, Koreatown, or USC in less than 30 minutes. You can get to Downtown LA, Santa Monica/Venice Beach, Beverly Hills, and UCLA within 60 minutes.
Our home is within 1/2 mile (10 min walking) of several bus lines and within 1 mile (20 min walking/6 min by bike) of the La Brea Metro Station. You can access most of Los Angeles via Metro or bus, but it may take a while.
Public transit is possible and doable to certain destinations, but rental cars or Lyft are highly encouraged in LA due to its lackluster public transportation system. If you plan to use the bus/train, plan to research your routes first. Other Things to NoteJennie and Brian are both fluent in English, Spanish, and French...although Brian’s French is limited (much to his father-in-law’s chagrin).
Also, you'll have full access to the kitchen. We leave a shelf open for guests in the refrigerator so you can store any perishable food -- you’ll see it marked with a post-it note. For breakfast, we'll always have toast, butter, jam, etc. on your refrigerator shelf, along with occasional special goodies. We also provide plenty of coffee, tea, sugar, etc. to meet all your caffeine-related needs.
