The SpaceOur newly built carriage house (built this year 2016) is a beautiful extension of our 1901 historical home. There are no shared walls, keyless entry, off-street parking and/or ample street parking, and french doors leading to your own personal outdoor sitting area with a view of Mt. Washington. The Carriage House was built with you in mind and awaits your arrival! With the art deco inspired hand-tiled shower, polished cement floors, and custom built-in queen size bed you’ll lazily leave for your adventures and be excited to return from your long day of exploring L.A.! The Carriage House is equipped with a Keurig, a Gourmia mini fridge cooler AND warmer, a 32” flatscreen with Roku, and a shelf of games for those nostalgic for Monopoly, and a hairdryer! EVERYTHING you need is within walking distance: bank, post office, dry cleaner, laundromat, book stores, a wide variety of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies, movie theatre, a remodeled vintage bowling alley, grocery, parks, hiking trail, the Southwest Museum, and taco trucks! Plus, the METRO GOLD LINE is walking distance and will take you all the way to the coast or anywhere you wish to visit.
You can request use of a clothing rack if you have things that need to be hung. Additionally, if you need to borrow an iron or steamer, just let us know and we'll arrange it for your convenience.
Our Carriage House is a private intimate sleep space ideal for individuals or quiet couples. The unit has no attached walls and its own walk path directly from the driveway, however, the main house sits directly next to it. The unit is equipped with the Simply Safe alarm system and should you choose to use this option there will be an additional deposit required. The space is also professionally cleaned between guests.
We are East coasters that made the West coast our home. We love to entertain and our door is always open for any questions, needs, or concerns. We have a toddler and two 20lb dogs that keep us on our toes and avid walkers of our neighborhood! We have worked very hard to make the space and the environment a wonderful experience for you and cannot wait for you to enjoy it! Guest AccessFor your use is a single car driveway and gated access to the unit. The unit is accessed via keyless entry (a punchpad with a personal code unique to you). The main house is directly next to the guest unit, but there are no shared walls, and the unit has it’s own walk path. You’ll have your own outdoor sitting area with visibility to our yard and porch, but we are very respectful of your relaxation time. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the main house, but the guest house is private and you will not have interactions with us unless desired. We’re available for questions and will be accessible to you should you need anything and we’re happy to give insights and tips on the neighborhood as well as other parts of L.A. as we’ve lived all over this metropolis before settling in Highland Park. Just ask! We love to be helpful! We’ve put together a list of our favorite neighborhood joints in the Guidebook section of this listing and we’ve also created a binder with all the need to knows and our favorite things inside the Carriage House! The driveway is a double drive, meaning the neighbor's is right next to ours, however, she does not drive nor does she own a car. She's a wonderful older woman that may say hello when you use the driveway. All our neighbors are the best around, really. We have such an old established street, on a cul-de-sac and everyone knows everyone. You may receive smiles and hellos, as this is the nature of our little town within the big city!
