I am also located 5 mins walking distance from the Gold Line Metro (yes, LA has a Metro- who knew?). Uber and Lyft are also great ways to get around and drivers are normally only a few minutes away.

The SpaceOur newly built carriage house (built this year 2016) is a beautiful extension of our 1901 historical home. There are no shared walls, keyless entry, off-street parking and/or ample street parking, and french doors leading to your own personal outdoor sitting area with a view of Mt. Washington. The Carriage House was built with you in mind and awaits your arrival! With the art deco inspired hand-tiled shower, polished cement floors, and custom built-in queen size bed you’ll lazily leave for your adventures and be excited to return from your long day of exploring L.A.! The Carriage House is equipped with a Keurig, a Gourmia mini fridge cooler AND warmer, a 32” flatscreen with Roku, and a shelf of games for those nostalgic for Monopoly, and a hairdryer! EVERYTHING you need is within walking distance: bank, post office, dry cleaner, laundromat, book stores, a wide variety of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies, movie theatre, a remodeled vintage bowling alley, grocery, parks, hiking trail, the Southwest Museum, and taco trucks! Plus, the METRO GOLD LINE is walking distance and will take you all the way to the coast or anywhere you wish to visit. You can request use of a clothing rack if you have things that need to be hung. Additionally, if you need to borrow an iron or steamer, just let us know and we'll arrange it for your convenience. Our Carriage House is a private intimate sleep space ideal for individuals or quiet couples. The unit has no attached walls and its own walk path directly from the driveway, however, the main house sits directly next to it. The unit is equipped with the Simply Safe alarm system and should you choose to use this option there will be an additional deposit required. The space is also professionally cleaned between guests. We are East coasters that made the West coast our home. We love to entertain and our door is always open for any questions, needs, or concerns. We have a toddler and two 20lb dogs that keep us on our toes and avid walkers of our neighborhood! We have worked very hard to make the space and the environment a wonderful experience for you and cannot wait for you to enjoy it! Guest AccessFor your use is a single car driveway and gated access to the unit. The unit is accessed via keyless entry (a punchpad with a personal code unique to you). The main house is directly next to the guest unit, but there are no shared walls, and the unit has it’s own walk path. You’ll have your own outdoor sitting area with visibility to our yard and porch, but we are very respectful of your relaxation time. Interaction with GuestsWe live in the main house, but the guest house is private and you will not have interactions with us unless desired. We’re available for questions and will be accessible to you should you need anything and we’re happy to give insights and tips on the neighborhood as well as other parts of L.A. as we’ve lived all over this metropolis before settling in Highland Park. Just ask! We love to be helpful! We’ve put together a list of our favorite neighborhood joints in the Guidebook section of this listing and we’ve also created a binder with all the need to knows and our favorite things inside the Carriage House! The NeighborhoodHighland Park is a historic neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles. It is rich in culture, food, activity, and people. It has been named the hippest, trendiest, revitalized city in Los Angeles by every publication (spend a day and evening around town and you'll see why) and has been called the "Brooklyn" of L.A.... Around the corner from our home you'll find Gloria's Cafe serving amazing breakfasts, killer coffee, and delicious lunch and dinner. We are a 1 minute walk from Figueroa St. one of the 2 main strips in HLP, the second being York Blvd, a 3/4 mile walk. We are two blocks from Monte 52 deli and marketplace serving killer sandwiches all day, fresh pressed juice, and coffee. The HLP (Highland Park) art walk occurs every second Saturday of the month! People, music, art, and food! It's a fun way to plan your travel dates. We are central to every major freeway, the 110, the 5 the 2, the 101, the 134 and the 210 are all minutes away. And we live a short walk to the METRO Gold Line Highland Park and Southwest Museum stations! There are mom and pop shops galore, coffee shops to serve any tastebud, the best tacos, breakfasts, churro waffles, pizza, and desserts around the corner! Debs Park and Audubon center is a quick walk from our home and a wonderful retreat any day of the week. We are a 5 minute Uber or Lyft ride to Eagle Rock's hip Colorado Blvd where you can explore more nightlife in the neighborhood or get up early and take a yoga class or spin class. Highland Park offers something for everyone, plus with 2 METRO Gold Line stations within walking distance you can see all of Los Angeles without traffic or a car! We are less than a 10 minute car ride to Old Town Pasadena, and South Pasadena (both also accessible via the METRO Gold Line). We are 10 minutes from the Glendale Americana shops, and 15 minutes by car from Silverlake! Getting AroundWe are a short walk to two METRO Gold Line stations the Southwest Museum stop and the Highland Park station, which will take you all over Los Angeles without ever needing a car. (URL HIDDEN) Uber, Uber share, and Lyft are all great options for airport travel and/or evenings out as well. Other Things to NoteWe have two, 20lb dogs that stay indoors with us, and do not use the yard when we have guests, however, the guest house is completely pet free. The driveway is a double drive, meaning the neighbor's is right next to ours, however, she does not drive nor does she own a car. She's a wonderful older woman that may say hello when you use the driveway. All our neighbors are the best around, really. We have such an old established street, on a cul-de-sac and everyone knows everyone. You may receive smiles and hellos, as this is the nature of our little town within the big city!

The SpaceEnter down a private stone path to the bottom level of our 1964 MCM home. Your own private level has the outdoor space and views that make Mount Washington a truly enchanting retreat. No shared walls. Enjoy a steam in the large walk-in steam shower, or a long soak in the custom stone tub. The sliding door opens wide to give you the true California indoor/outdoor living feel. The best part about this listing is our location. You can walk down the secret staircase directly to the Southwest Museum stop on the Metro Gold Line. You are 1 stop away from Highland Park (Figueroa corridor) with yoga, bowling, bakeries, restaurants, bars and more. Alternatively, you can take the Gold Line to Chinatown, or to Downtown Los Angeles Arts District/Little Tokyo - only a 10 min ride! Please feel free to ask us for any information or suggestions. Guest AccessPrivate entrance. The key is on a lock box so you can come and go as you please. Plenty of street parking on a wide street - rare for Mt Washington. Private floor and deck, with use of the yard during your stay. Interaction with GuestsMy husband and I are glad to give you information on the area. Whether you are visiting for work or pleasure, we can tailor suggestions to your personal needs. We have great ideas for restaurants, outdoor activities, entertainment and more. We have lived all over Los Angeles, so we know other neighborhoods beyond our own, but love Mt Washington/Highland Park best :). We truly respect your privacy, and ours. If you feel comfortable with the area and do not need suggestions, that is fine too! We live upstairs, so we are accessible, but you may not even see us. The NeighborhoodWhen staying in Mt Washington you will easily fall into the tranquility and beauty of your surroundings. We love our view of the historic Southwest Museum (the very first museum in Los Angeles!), and feel very connected to nature here. You might see coyotes, ground squirrels, many species of birds etc. That being said, we really enjoy our location because we don't feel isolated. We are far up the mountain enough to get the hillside feel, but can access the main streets and amenities below. Being able to walk places when you are staying in Mount Washington is pretty rare. There are so many awesome things to do and see right off the Gold Line - not to mention it links up to the Exposition Line that takes you directly to the ocean! There are many things to do outdoors around here- walk up to the Self Realization Center, hike Ernest Debs Park, or the many trails within our neighborhood. Our new favorite thing is to rent bikes and bike along the LA River Path - super easy to get to! There are tons of great restaurants/shops off Figueroa: Kitchen Mouse (breakfast), Civil Coffee, Cafe Birdie, Good Girl Dinette, Highland Park Bowl, The Greyhound Bar, Mr Holmes Bakeshop, we can go on and on! You can also drive/Uber to York Blvd - the other main drag of Highland Park that also has a ton of great places. The Highland Park art walk occurs every second Saturday of the month on York. People, music, art, and food! It's a fun way to plan your travel dates. La Superior grocery store and Arco gas station are walkable. There is a Sprouts and Trade Joe's nearby in Eagle Rock, a Whole Foods off the 110 in South Pasadena (15 mins), and a new Whole Foods 365 about 15 mins the other direction towards Silver Lake. Getting AroundLuckily we are walking distance to the Metro Gold Line station Southwest Museum stop which will take you all over Los Angeles without ever needing a car. Other listings claim to be *near* the Gold Line, but we are legitimately a very short 2 min walk via a hidden staircase to Marmion Way. Uber, Uber share, and Lyft are all great options for airport travel and/or evenings out as well. If you have a car, great! We have very direct access to the 110, 5 and Glendale Freeways, and plentiful street parking. Other Things to NoteWe do not have any pets, nor children - although we love them. The curb is high on our street, so please be careful parking - we don't want you to scuff your car!
