The SpaceOur home is a historic Victorian in Uptown Oakland converted into a duplex. The first floor space is all yours! It is a 3 bedroom/1 bathroom newly renovated unit. Each room is rented separately and we cater to guests staying 30 days or longer, mostly students, interns, and relocations. The longer stays provide a more communal environment among housemates. It is a space to live, work, and connect with other young professionals or like minded travelers.
The Dark Room is not so dark. It is a smaller bedroom with natural light. Cozy navy walls hug you at night. The bed is full size with new memory foam mattress. We provide bed linens and towels on arrival. The closet has plenty of hanging space for clothes and large cubby space for luggage. The room also has a secretary desk for private workspace. Desk includes three drawers for small items, like socks and undies.
Shared space: The kitchen is modern with updated appliances and eat in area. It's fully stocked with cookware, dishes, microwave, coffee machine, blender, etc. There is an eat in nook in the adjacent bay window which is great for group work space. The living room has a sofa with HD TV from which you can access your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc. The bathroom is large, bright, and newly renovated with plenty of storage.

Interaction with GuestsLucky and I live upstairs and will meet you on arrival, tour the space, and leave you be throughout your stay. We will schedule with you and housemates in advance. The NeighborhoodWe are in a renaissance period of Oakland's Uptown entertainment district! Our neighborhood is transitioning from a business district to a residential and recreational hotspot! We are blocks from the famous Fox and Paramount Theaters, home to popular live music and performances. You can walk, bike, shuttle, or uber to countless restaurants and bars. I highly recommend the local year round Farmer's Markets at Lake Merritt every Saturday, where you can also jog the 5K loop or rent a kayak, and at Jack London Square every Sunday where you can dine al fresco or bocce/bowl the night away. In Temescal, you can brunch and window shop your face off. Never a dull moment…and then there's San Francisco in your back yard. Getting AroundJust a few blocks from the BART train, 3 stops to San Francisco! We are closest to the 19th Street BART station (Bay Area Rapid Transit). The BART runs like a metro and comes every 15 mins during the commute. It is about a 15-20 minute ride to the city center. It is very common here to use car services like Uber or Lyft and rideshares like Casual Carpool. Download the apps and all transactions are by credit card. We are also close to highways for car travel. Keep in mind, you could rent a Zipcar and be in Sonoma/Napa in 1 hour or Lake Tahoe in just 3 hours! Other Things to Note-Nights tend to be cool year round and we have central heating. Make sure you check the weather for the time of year you are traveling. Seasons differ in SF and the bay area. It can be warm through November, but less so in May and June.
