The SpaceCome and visit the Maasai Community in Mile Tisa, nine miles from Namanga in Kenya. We have built a hut in a Masaai Village for visitors to come and be immersed in Maasai culture. As soon as you arrive you will be given a traditional outfit which you will keep until your departure, and can be purchased on request. After you have settled into the hut you will be welcomed by a dance troupe of 'Moran' who will dance around the fire in an extraordinary way! After a delicious supper taken from an exclusively Masaai menu bed down on the cow skin sheet around the fire inside your hut. This community has not been infiltrated by the mass tourism in Kenya as it is not within a national park, and as a result everything you see is the real deal. Despite this we do have a shower and a western style toilet. If you would like to stay the options of activities are numerous. Behind the hut is the dark mountain which overlooks Kilimanjaro and Tanzania - walking up it is a great day trip and you will see some wildlife such as camels, buffalo, baboons and warthogs. Other people head to Amboseli National Park for the day, and a separate price can be discussed for people who would like us to arrange this for them as well. Amboseli is famous for its glorious vistas of Kilimanjaro and the 1500 elephants that roam around under its shadow. Some people prefer to stay behind and herd goats or cows for the day. This care free life will very quickly help you to relax and forget about the hustle and bustle of city life. For people coming from Nairobi we can arrange pick up so that you don't need to worry about anything. Included in the price (see website) is transport from Nairobi, the food, the dancing and all other necessities - there will be optional expenses on top of these such as buying Masaai trinklets or clothing. It is recommended that you bring your own water, warm clothes, and hand sanitiser.

NORTHERN AMBOSELI: Tandala, is located in hills in the northern district of Amboseli, situated 105km South of Nairobi, Kenya's capital city where Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has daily flights to destinations across Europe. The nearest village is Il'Bisil. The Tanzania border at Namanga is 3/4hrs drive from Tandala. For those interested in colonial history there is a WW1 gun emplacement which can be viewed on the property and Il'Bisil was a base for British troops. Il'Bisil gets its name from Somali prisoners of war and loosely translated means "Place of Nourishment" For the short time we are here on this earth we feel it is of prime importance to try and protect this small piece of Africa. We frequently patrol the area for snares and do our utmost to protect the game. Our neighbours feel the same so we have left fences open where possible to allow the game to roam freely between our properties. You may see: Buffalo, Lesser Kudu, Impala, Eland, Waterbuck, Bushbuck, Duiker, Dik-Dik, Warthog, Hyena, Ostrich, Giraffe and Leopard in the area. Lion have been heard at night and we have spotted Wild Dogs, Aardvark, and the occasional Wildebeest and Zebra. At night guests can enjoy the star-studded African sky. The sounds of Africa are not like those of other places. A whole range of sounds fill the days and nights here and add to its mystery. The bird life in the area is superb. Kenya has more than 1000 different bird species while in all of North America there are only 703. As a result it is very easy to spot 100 different species in one day. Amboseli park, just 1 3/4hrs. drive from Tandala through Maasai land, is famous for being the best place in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants among other wildlife species. Other attractions include opportunities to meet the Maasai and spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Amboseli and its big skies and far horizons combined with swampy springs and dry and dusty earth trampled by hundreds of animals is a beautiful park. The park has an endless underground water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro's ice cap, which funnel into two clear water springs in the heart of the park. Tandala is a uniquely beautiful home nestled on the slopes of the Maparasha hills, set within 320 acres of private bush, near Amboseli park which is at the foot of Kilimanjaro, with sweeping views, shady verandahs, Thunbergia covered walkways, potted palms. Tandala - a self-catering property which means Food and Drink need to be bought. The house is fully staffed
