The city also has golfing facilities and parks, as well as wineries. Seasonally, Navasota is visited in the Spring for bluebonnets. Blues Bluebonnets & BBQ music festival is held in April, celebrating the birthday of Mance Lipscomb. A summer festival, the Navasota Bluesfest, every second weekend in August in the Blues Capital of Texas honors the memory of blues man Mance Lipscomb who recorded numerous albums and lived in Navasota all of his life. The celebration raises money for college scholarships for local students. A statue of Mance Lipscomb is now a part of Mance Lipscomb Park, near downtown. A statue of Frank Hamer stands in front of city hall, honoring the time he served as city marshal, connecting to the time Mance Lipscomb was his buggy driver. Local artist and sculptor Russell Cushman designed and built the bronze statue. In 2005, the Texas Legislature named the city "The Blues Capital of Texas," in honor of the late Mance Lipscomb, a Navasota native and blues musician. The nearby Texas Renaissance Festival is held near Plantersville in the fall. Also nearby is Washington on the Brazos state park and the George Bush Presidential Library. The space includes a kitchenette, queen bed, seating area, table and toilet. It is a very tranquil environment. The cabin sits on a teaching farm that is operated by Blackwood Educational Land Institute, a non-profit teaching farm. Interaction with GuestsWe can have as much or as little interaction as you like. Getting AroundWe're in the middle of the "country". It's best you have a vehicle to get around with. The SpaceThe Red Velvet Inn is located in a 130-year-old house that was built by the two-time mayor of Navasota and son of one of the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence. The home went a full restoration in 2012. Guest AccessGuests will also have access to two living rooms, a dining room, full kitchen, a porch and balcony both with rocking chairs and a fully fenced back yard with patio and seating. Interaction with GuestsAlthough I don't live on site, I try to meet all guests at check-in, if it is before 6 pm. Self-check-in is available after that time. There is also a property manager that is on-site for a period of time every day. She and I are both available by phone 24 hours a day. Getting AroundDowntown Navasota is within walking distance, however a car is strongly recommended as there is no public transportation in the area. Other Things to NoteA percentage of every reservation is donated to dog rescues, including Texas Husky Rescue, Texas Sled Dog Rescue, and Long Way Home Pit Bull Rescue.

You can relax and unwind and enjoy the country setting. You can bring your horses and ride around the property and jump the cross country jumps. The outdoor pavilion has a large fire ring, sitting area, and meat smoker, for you to enjoy roasted marshmallows and late evening campfires. If you enjoy fishing you can take advantage of a two acre stocked lake for catching and releasing bass or simply feed and pet the horses on property. Fun attractions are near with Blue Bell Creameries, Washington-on-the-Brazos State Park, historic Chappell Hill and Bryan/College Station. Evening sunsets are some of the most spectacular sights in Texas so enjoy one while sitting in the red rocking chairs on the front porch. If you prefer you can see the sights, a short scenic drive will find you in many historic Texas communities and a host of opportunities to enjoy Texas as it is meant to be. There is hiking, biking, bird watching, or slowing down and reading a good book in the peaceful surroundings. Take in the fresh air and the room to relax and unwind.
