The SpacePlease note: Airbnb does not differentiate between reviews for my Amherst listings and my Jamaica listings, so some reviews apply to this listing and others do not.
By way of introduction, we are Nancy and friends hailing from Massachusetts and Jamaica, (where I am n ow have permanent resident status), enthusiastic gardener in love with the natural lifestyle, living the good life here at our "little cottage in Negril", as the reggae lyric goes. This unique large wooden, gated house on a beautiful half acre facing the sunsets and sea, is graced with fruit trees, tropical flowers and organic vegetable gardens. This accommodation will feel just like home and is ideal for couples, families or small groups who would like to be at the beach or adventuring during the day/evening, but then prefer to come away from the busy town to the relative peace and quiet of this natural setting on the hill. We are available to assist with any little thing. You are welcome to as much privacy or company as you desire. Premises are tobacco-free; indoor kitchen is meat-free.
The property is fenced and gated, safe and secure. Our spacious, private upstairs suite features a broad veranda on three sides with sea breezes and partial sea view, a tiled and fully equipped kitchen with stove, refrigerator and locally made cabinets, cooking utensils, also a private tiled bath with toilet, tub/shower and sink. There's an Oriental rug for morning stretches, beautiful hand crafted furniture, including queen and full beds, bureaus, and oval dining table with four chairs, designed and built by Marlon's brother. We have screened windows, portable and overhead fans, along with plenty sea breeze. With your well being in mind, we use only non-toxic, hypo-allergenic cleaners for house cleaning and laundry. Sheets, towels and bathroom amenities are provided. Laundry service is also available.
The 'bnb' in Airbnb has confused some guests, so to explain, we do not routinely serve breakfast included in the booking price.
However, you are welcome to enjoy Marlon’s customized healthy and delicious "Ital" Rasta restaurant (fish and vegetables) right on site for breakfast or dinner at a reasonable price!
Negril's attractions include the famous laid back seven-mile sand beach, the cliffs, spectacular sunsets over the sea, diverse Jamaican and international cuisine, live reggae night spots every day of the week, internet cafes, horseback riding, water sports, snorkeling, sunset cruises and a water park for children.
We can help you arrange transportation from Montego Bay. From November into April, during the tourist season, provide our guests with personalized taxi service to shopping and the beach as needed during the daytime, as well as day adventures on the western side of the island, and visits to the local mountain spring and the Blue Hole. We have trusted taxi drivers to call for evening outings, and off season. Guest AccessLAPTOP INTERNET: There is not internet at the house summer 2015, because the USB modem was packed away inadvertently. Sorry for that.
The good news is that there are numerous places on the beach where you can enjoy access open internet for laptops and phones, or if you buy a drink or meal and they will give you their password. There is one definite option for which I know the password and can pass it on to you.
RE PHONE INTERNET: If your roaming data plan in too expensive, try to bring an unlocked cell phone that accommodates a SIM Card, and buy a SIM card ($3) & data (about $1 per day), from the local cell phone store in town.
Guests have access to the entire yard & gardens, and an outdoor solar shower, hammocks, picnic tables. The apartment has a TV and DVD player (with lots of DVDs on the premises), plus portable boom box. Guests may request coolers and ice for outings, air mattresses, beach toys for children, and we do have a 13' inflatable kayak, though not used to date. There's a massage table you can set up for body work with your traveling companion. Nancy is a professional massage therapist on site, winters only. We provide parking inside the secure compound, equipped cooking facilities, and hot showers. Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy interacting with our guests when they want to share conversation, meals, a local excursion or live reggae music evenings, but we also extend as much privacy as our guests may want.

The NeighborhoodWhat we love at our location in the quiet neighborhood of Whitehall, Negril, is the peaceful, green natural setting all about, with only one close neighbor, a glimpse of the ocean, and caressing sea breezes. Getting AroundWe have trusted taxi drivers to call upon, and a charter van driver to and from the Montego Bay airport. During the tourist season, (November into April), when Nancy is there, we shuttle our guests to the town and beach most times upon request, with the exception of late night, unless we are all going out to live music together. Other Things to NoteFor liability reasons, please check your rental car insurance policy to see who is covered before you ask our staff or friends to be your driver.
