With our own private pool and tennis court, and standing in beautiful tropical gardens, Hill Rise House offers absolute privacy. Accommodation is in two self contained houses set discreetly apart, with two bedrooms in each house. Always for exclusive occupancy, our rental rates are for 4 guests using the main house only (guest cottage remaining unoccupied). We charge a per person supplement for overflow into the guest cottage up to a maximum total of 9 guests. The architecture and furnishings are in traditional colonial style. Some of the antique furniture dates back to the days of Lord Nelson (who was married here on Nevis). For out door living, we have a number of large covered verandas, a large swimming pool with cabana and a private tennis court. We enjoy one of the best panoramic views on Nevis Island, to the west for sunsets over the Caribbean Sea, north west to our sister island of St, Kitts and northwards to the majesty of Nevis Peak. Day and night, our views are spectacular! We provide a complimentary maid and laundry service Monday to Saturday and we have a full time gardener Monday to Friday. Our 40' x 20' pool is serviced twice a week by outside contractor. The owners will handle your booking direct, paying attention to every detail during the process. If you prefer to use one of our agents, we'll be happy to make an introduction. We look forward to welcoming you to our little piece of Paradise! Included in the rental: Maid service Mon-Sat except public holidays. Complimentary personal laundry and all utilities including Wi-Fi. We offer discounts for early bookings and longer stays. Please inquire. Our rates are subject to change without notice, unless a booking has been confirmed and a deposit has been received. (Our rates are in US dollars, and rates quoted in other currencies on this web site are only approximate). Rates are inclusive. Any changes in local tax once a booking has been confirmed, will not be passed on to guests. Hill Rise House stands in more than two acres at the western end of the old Montpelier sugar plantation. The internationally renown Montpelier Plantation Inn is just a few minutes walk up a country lane passing the Nevis Botanical Gardens on the way. Neighboring properties are individual privately owned residences in at least an acre of grounds. Our hill side location enjoys uninterrupted westerly views of the Caribbean Sea to the islands of Saba, Statia and our sister Island of St. Kitts. Some of the sunsets we enjoy are truly spectacular! Below us lies our sleepy little capital town of Charlestown which becomes a fairyland of lights after sundown. To complete the panorama, Nevis Peak stands majestically a couple of miles to our north. We recommend car rental for the duration of your stay, as you will need it for shopping for provisions, eating out and to explore our little island. Our favorite beach is just 15 minutes drive away, and nowhere in the island is more than half an hour. 15 to 20 minutes drive will take you into Town, ferry port and the wonderful beaches of Nevis. We are about half an hour from Nevis's little airport which handles regional flights, and for long haul flights, St.Kitts airport is about 90 minutes away using the passenger ferry.

Our vacation house, BLACK SAND COVE, has the FlipKey "Rated Excellent" badge, and won the "Top Vacation Rental" badge in 2012 and again in 2013. It's located is in a secluded part of the out-of-the-way island of Nevis. The house, just yards from the Caribbean sea, is set in an unique and extensive garden, which some guests insist is the most beautiful garden in the Caribbean. We emphasize on local plants and native species, and the uniqueness lies in great design, thanks to Julie Toll, the multi-award winner of many British garden shows. A broad wooden staircase takes you from the garden down to a small beach with soft, black sand. On our peaceful corner of the island, you'll hear only the sounds of nature: the wind in the banana trees, the birds, the crickets, and the waves on the shore. Our West Indies-style house has a great kitchen, convenient for 2 or 3 people to cook together. You'll spend lots of time on the large screened porch facing the sea; you'll want to eat all your meals here, and relax here with a book or game in the evening. Behind the house is a patio with views of the volcano and other hills. The swimming pool has large, broad stairs, designed as a great place for parents and small children to enjoy the water. There are 2 bedrooms, a sleeping porch, and 3 baths - plus a sofabed in the living room. Our favorite place to refresh is the outdoor shower with the views of the gardens and the volcano. The high, vaulted ceilings, traditional wooden awnings, and ceiling fans maximize the cooling Atlantic breezes coming over the mountains behind you. The 2 bedrooms are air-conditioned for the warm summer nights. The built-in computer desk (with WiFi access for your laptop and other devices) offers an expansive view of the sea. There are more guest testimonials on our website. Nevis is a small, off-the-beaten-track island, loved by those who enjoy nature, hiking, birding, and beach combing. The laid-back lifestyle on Nevis distinguishes it from our Caribbean islands‌.no stop lights or casinos here! Nevis fosters more tranquil pursuits, like our 360-degree views of sunrises and sunsets. It's hard to capture the scope and feel of the place in photos; I'm working on that with panoramic photos, which I'll post on the Black Sand Cove Facebook page. There you'll find lots more pictures of Nevis and of Black Sand Cove, with comments, recommendations, and photos from guests. You don’t need to be a Facebook participant; go there by putting this in your browser: facebook.com/blacksandcove. On the same 8-acre property, we have a small cottage with its own entrance gate and parking area, very private and separate from the house. It has a queen-size bed, a sofabed, and well-organized kitchen and dining facilities, all in one room. Like the house, it has a lovely color scheme that complements the local art work on the walls. It also has complete laundry facilities and WiFi internet access. Though the cottage has no pool, there is a hot-tub nestled amid oleanders and bougainvillea, very private. Learn more about the cottage on our website, blacksandcove.com Nevis is a small Caribbean island, rather undeveloped and off-the-beaten-track. Nature, hiking, swimming, birding, enjoying the rainforest and the fabulous views, and just relaxing‌.. these are popular activities. Nevis has lots of nice restaurants, but if you're looking for casinos, nightlife, and shopping, you need a different island. For a delightful natural environment, on a comparatively undeveloped island, we recommend Nevis! One of our guests, who grew up on a nearby Caribbean island, declared our garden the most beautiful in the Caribbean. What makes it so special? We use simple plants - largely native species, local plants that thrive in the dry, sunny, seaside location, like aloes, agaves, frangipani, and crown flower. Native hardwoods including logwood, mahogany, and wild almond, as well as coconuts and royal palms: these are main features of the landscape. The principle reason for the garden's appeal is the inspired talent of Julie Toll, a well-known landscape designer based in Britain. Plus the setting itself is charming: sea in front, mountain behind. There's plenty to do on Nevis, but some of our guests tell us that once they get here, they often don't feel motivated to leave the premises. They'd rather just hang around and enjoy Black Sand Cove. If you go to the Black Sand Cove website, click on About, and then Beach and Gardens, you’ll find a link to an article about our garden from the British magazine House & Gardens, October 2011 issue.
