The SpaceLarge, natural lighting and clean! Bedrooms: 1 master with queen, 2nd bedroom with queen. A queen sleeper sofa sleeps two additional people. We also have two queen air mattresses and ample bedding, towels and other amenities. This is a very convenient location! Located south of Louisville, KY in New Albany, IN, we are just 10 minutes from downtown. The New Albany riverfront boasts oodles of activities throughout the year and is two miles away along with restaurants, coffee shops and museums. See our Guidebook on the listing for more details. Two adults and two small dogs live upstairs. Dogs do not interact with guests. We will be available for any need, otherwise we are very quiet and no bother. Guests will not have access to downstairs storage and shop except to use any extra folding chairs (40) and 6ft tables (6). NOTE: The main bedroom has a 4ft bed which is not conducive for people with handicap issues, but the 2nd bedroom will be perfect. Our space has a HUGE open area and can be used for modest gatherings of up to 40 people. The SpaceThis is a great little craftsman style house built in the 1920s as a secondary property for one of the mansions in the historic district. Since I've purchased the home, it's gone through major renovations including new kitchen cabinets and appliances, refinished hardwood floors (throughout), new paint in most rooms, new lighting fixtures, new plumbing, and a new second bath/laundry room addition. You are welcome to use the backyard as you see fit (it's great for watching the birds). You are also welcome to the master bedroom balcony that overlooks the backyard. Please note that it is a two story house and all bedrooms are on the second floor in case anyone in your party has trouble with stairs. There are two bedrooms with the possibility of an air mattress in one of the downstairs rooms. Guest AccessYou'll have (almost) full reign of the entire place. There is a third, small bedroom which is currently used for storage and I will likely place many of my things in there so you can have more closet space in the main bedrooms. I would ask that you leave that room undisturbed. There is also a basement, which should only be accessed in case of emergencies. Interaction with GuestsThough I may be available to greet you and show you around the house, I will not be staying there during your visit. I will be fully accessible via phone if needed. The NeighborhoodNew Albany is perfectly situated on I-64 just across the Ohio River from Louisville. It's got a great small-town feel with quiet neighborhoods, but just minutes away from all of the amenities Louisville has to offer. My house is in the Mansion Row Historic District as it was originally constructed as a "garden house" of one of the several large homes in the area. The proximity to restaurants and shopping in downtown New Albany and the newly redone Main Street improvements make this little corner of New Albany very pleasant and inviting. Getting AroundDepending on where you're wanting to go, there's easy access to I-64 to the west or I-65 to the east. The Transit Authority of River City (TARC) does operate buses between New Albany and Louisville, although transport times may be a little long. Other Things to NoteThere is almost always plenty of street parking available. There is a also a small, private parking space in back if you would like to use it (I typically don't).

The SpacePrivate room at front corner of house. Original wood floors. Views of the Ohio River and Sherman Minton Bridge from the east window. This room was originally a doctor's office for the first owners, the Sloan Family. The doctor's waiting room has been converted to the bathroom. The queen size bed has luxury sheets, feather comforter, lots of pillows, 3 huge windows have original wood shutters and concave/convex antique glass panes. The property sits on a full acre and has an in-ground pool. There is a park just behind us and a bike path along the river as part of the Greenway Project. The basement has a tunnel that was used in the underground railroad. Third floor has a "look-out" post called the Cupola, which was installed by the second owner Admiral Bicknell in the late 1800s. If time and space allow guests may have the opportunity to view these other spaces of the home. Guest AccessParlor, Dining Room, pool, all grounds, refrigerator (in kitchen, if notified in advance we may be able to provide a private fridge). Kitchen is for our family, but you may use the microwave, refrigerator, wine fridge, electric tea kettle and coffee maker (or allow me to make coffee for you!). Just let us know in advance if you prefer cream, or if milk, what percentage and we will try to have that on-hand for you. We might have bikes that you can borrow. We are not tv people, but have extra laptops to loan out at no cost for Netflix and Internet viewing. Interaction with GuestsWe have 6 kids, and your kids age 10 or older are welcome. If time allows we can help with transportation, site-seeing, etc. We have snacks, LOTS of coffee. I, Melissa, am not pushy and am slightly introverted. I like to let you do your thing and not interfere too much, but I am here to help you if you need it and do not mind chatting or giving tours of the house. If there are no kids or other pressing issues we might even be able to have an evening happy hour together and share some of the local wine selections with you. The NeighborhoodWithin walking distance: restaurants, YMCA with aquatic center & rockwall, farmer's market on Saturdays (seasonal), unique shops, natural food store, winery and more. Please look up restaurant hours. I would also look for groupons for the local winery and restaurants. Some are closed on Sunday or Mondays. We have views of the Ohio River and are just minutes from downtown Louisville. We have bike trails, the Loop wetlands, Greenway Park, amphitheater. In the summer there are live concerts featuring local artists, craft fairs abound, in the Fall is the Harvest Homecoming. Culberson Mansion is a couple blocks away. Much much more. Also our residence is private and beautiful and you may not want to leave. Getting AroundWe have our own little parking lot. Street parking is abundant, but Friday mornings there is no parking or you will be ticketed. Bicycling is an easy way to get around. Several of the streets have bike lanes and there is a bike/jogging trail behind the house along the river. Driving is easy and there is usually ample FREE parking around town. Our local bus system is called TARC and you can look up the information about routes and schedules prior to your arrival or once you are here with our free WIFI. Other Things to NoteWe are in the city and you will hear traffic noises at night. There is also a train behind us that will run through the night. We occasionally host weddings and other events so there may be some sort of party going on. We recently moved into the home so some areas are messy and not yet packed. We will do our best to keep the public spaces tidy. We are very CLEAN and your room linens will be freshly laundered and bathroom scrubbed prior to your arrival. We just moved in and have been put behind schedule because the house needed more cleaning than we had anticipated.

The SpaceThe room is quaint, with a small closet, no windows but we have a big outside space to relax in. There is a bed, small table, and bright colorful watercolors on the wall. We do have two cats, but they are not allowed in the spare bedroom. Animals are welcome! The NeighborhoodNew Albany is an awesome up and coming town located 10 minutes away and Louisville is right over the bridge, about a 15 minute drive. The Space1st Floor: Studio/party room. Have up to 30 over for a cocktail reception or catered dinner. Separated entrance from the upstairs allows you to have privacy but convenience. Of course break out the ping/pong table or poker table and you've got a great game room. Bathroom, fridge, microwave and even a 3 person sauna on this level as well. 2nd Floor: living/dining/kitchen/patio. Open concept makes this floor socially awesome. Sitting at the breakfast bar, dining room table or overstuffed leather couches you can all be in the convo!! Gas grill off the kitchen patio just in case you're tired of eating out at all the great restaurants a stones throw away. 3rd Floor: bedrooms. The Two large bedrooms offer a different feel from the rest of the building. Connecting these is a polished marble bathroom with a walk in shower that can hold up to 4, really I checked. The mod of the 2 bedrooms has a 50" tv, a mini-fridge, microwave and a plush chaise lounge great for those days where you just want to skip the stairs. The old world bed chamber has a collection of titanic era artifacts and furniture that I've gathered all over the globe for the past many years. Guest AccessThe 2nd floor and 3rd floor including patio are all yours. The first floor(studio/party room) is available upon request. Interaction with GuestsThere's not much I can't do when it comes to your needs. Don't be afraid to ask because providing a memorable and top notch experience is what I do. I'm good at it love to show off. So the more you can let me know about your trip and your people the better I can serve you. I understand sometimes you're all good without a Brandon so I have no problem giving you as much space as you desire as well. The NeighborhoodIt's a true historic place!! With structures dating back to 1813. Stroll along the Ohio River or literally crawl home from one of the many watering holes. I love that I may not use my car for a week. Getting AroundTwo feet or Über/ Lyft will get you anywhere you need. Skip the rental car unless you're going way out. The Space***PLEASE NOTE: This is our home, so we will be staying there during the duration of your stay. You will not have access to our bedroom/bathroom, but the rest of the house you will, and you will have the entire first floor to yourself. More detailed description below! :) Renting the entire house, all 3 bedrooms, and having it to yourself is available at a rate of $300/night with a max of 8 people. Inquire for availability! Our home is a classic bi-level, with us staying on the second floor and your entire private area on the first floor. There are 2 bedrooms available on your private level, so had to list is as "full house" since AirBnB only allows one bedroom under the "private room" option, and we have 2. The second floor features a vaulted ceiling with woodbeams and a statement wood-burning fireplace with 100+ year old hearth and wooden planked tile. Our kitchen is located on this level, which you are welcome to use! The dining room is also located on the second floor, and features a handmade table we crafted out of reclaimed KY barnwood and a 200-yr old Singer Sewing Table stand. The dining area features famous Eames chairs, complete with sheepskin throws. Access to our spacious deck can be gained from either the first or second floors, which features a propane fire table complete with fire glass and a comfortable sectional sofa to relax on and take in the quiet tranquility of the surrounding trees. People think they're in Gatlinburg when they stand on our deck at night. We have one neighbor, and the rest is surrounded by woods with tall trees. You will have access and privacy as the entire first floor will be left all to yourselves, which features your spacious bedroom with queen bed and custom drums, a private bathroom, a smaller bedroom with a queen bed, and your own living room, as well as your semi-private entrance so you may come and go as you please. The first floor living room features it's own woodburning fireplace, as well as a projector that shoots onto the white brick fireplace, creating a massive display 6' wide, and theatre audio complete with sub woofers. When we aren't hosting, it's our favorite room in the house! Guest AccessOur front door features a Schlage combination lock. We will provide a custom code for you that will then be deleted upon your checkout so you may come and go as you please, locking and unlocking the door with your custom code. This entrance/exit is very private, as you enter the house and can either go down half a flight of stairs to your private floor, or up half a flight of stairs to the second floor. Interaction with GuestsWe work full-time jobs Monday through Friday, usually 9-5, but can be available to help besides that as little or as much as our guests desire. The NeighborhoodWe don't live in a neighborhood, but have a few houses around us, only one in-site enough to be considered a next-door neighbor. We're 15 minutes from downtown Louisville. There's a long driveway up past our house that connects to a neighborhood for walks and secret overlook, complete with campfire area, about a 15-20 min walk away. Getting AroundThe drive up to our house features winding turns and beautiful views! Other Things to NoteWe have a young 6lb Pomeranian who loves everyone, named Pico! She's basically our first-born. We have her confined to the second floor with a gate. She may bark the first few times you come in. Our driveway is gravel and on a hill, we have a ton of room to park cars, at least up to 5-6. We have Netflix, Amazon video, and Sling TV (offering most cable channels).

The SpaceSilver Mining Lake Cottage is a cozy retreat set on a five acre private lake surrounded by nature. The cottage is perfect for a couples’ getaway, a family weekend, or a friends’ gathering with a flexible layout that will sleep up to six. The main entry to the home is through the screened porch, equipped with its own radio/CD player, mini-fridge, and dining table for four. The living room floor has recently been refinished in hardwood-style laminate. The sofa folds out into a full-size bed. The kitchen and dining area are located centrally with a walk-in pantry. The dining table comfortably seats four. The kitchen is well equipped with full-size refrigerator, stove with oven, coffee pot, microwave, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, and dinnerware for six people, and additional kitchen supplies are available on request. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen-size bed and a twin daybed with trundle. The daybed and trundle can be placed together to make a full-size bed. The bedroom also has a private sitting area and a separate entrance. The bathroom and laundry room with washer, dryer, and large utility sink are centrally located off the kitchen/dining area. The casual, homey vibe of the cottage invites you to kick back and unwind. You won’t find anything fancy here, but you will find a friendly, clean, and comfortable space in a bucolic setting. Use of the lake, just steps outside your door, includes the use of two kayaks, a paddle boat, two canoes, a john-boat, and fishing equipment. The lake was once a pay fishing lake and is stocked with catfish, bluegill, bass, and crappie. We ask that you only catch what you will eat during your stay. You are also welcome to swim in the clean, spring-fed lake and make use of the diving platform. There is a sandy beach area with lounge chairs and a fire pit with wood provided for a cozy campfire. The cottage is located in a certified 32 acre wildlife habitat. Geese, deer, turkeys, squirrels, and other wildlife share the property and are often seen near the cottage. Although the cottage is secluded, private, and surrounded by nature, you are only a 15-20 minute drive to downtown Louisville, KY, recently rated as one of Money Magazine’s Best Places to Live. You’ll be staying in a fantastic location for foodies, shoppers, nature lovers, history buffs, and more. We are also an ideal home base for the Kentucky Derby. The cottage is on a private drive with no immediate neighbors. The view from the cottage includes the lake and surrounding woods. Getting AroundA car will be necessary for local transportation. There are several grocery stores and dozens of restaurants within a 3-10-minute drive, and we’re happy to provide recommendations! Historic New Albany, Jeffersonville, Starlight, entertainment venues, parks,and wineries are located near the cottage. The Louisville International Standiford Field airport is only 20 miles away, and Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby) is only 15 miles away. In the restoration and decoration of their home, the residents brought an eclectic design eye with a minimalist flair and a knack for discovering extraordinary pieces by artists locally and abroad. By mixing a love of history with a modern sensibility, this home is well balanced and reflects the residents' love of spaces that are comfortable, inviting, and cool. The main floor of the home boasts a welcoming foyer, fantastic kitchen, formal dining, and a gorgeous large living room with seating for 10+. The unfinished basement features a cozy den area perfect for watching films solo or with a large group. Per the American Foursquare style, this home has a spacious front porch, beautifully furnished with seating for 5. Guest AccessGuests can access the entire residence. Interaction with GuestsWe will always be available by phone. It is likely that we will be in the area and available in-person as well. The NeighborhoodOur home is less than a mile and half from downtown New Albany and less than 6 miles from downtown Louisville, both of which feature an array of incredible local food, beverages, museums, and shopping. We are also within walking distance of many parks, including Bicknell Park, Silver Street Park, and the Loop Island Wetlands. Our neighbors are native to the area and some of our dearest friends. If you have the pleasure of running into them, I'm sure they would love to give recommendations and share their favorite jaunts. Distances from our home to a few area attractions/travel spots: less than eleven and a half miles from Louisville International Airport, five and a half miles from Kentucky International Convention Center and KFC Yum! Center, and ten miles from Churchill Downs. Other Things to NoteOur home is kid-friendly and perfect for those traveling with small children. One of the bedrooms features a crib that can be converted into a bassinet or toddler bed (suitable for children aged 6 and under) upon request. We have a luxury Aerobed queen size air mattresses for larger groups. Our unfinished basement features a treadmill, yoga mat, and an array of small weights for the athletically inclined. If any of our guests have pet allergies, please note that we have one short haired dog, however, my husband has mild pet allergies so we have high-grade air filters in two of the bedrooms. The air filters serve as nice white noise machines at night and my husband has not had any allergic reaction to our dog since we installed them in our home. I am an artist and collect art as well. Some of the paintings in our home contain nudity. If you would like me to store away any artwork during your stay, please let me know!
