Am always open for conversation or glass of wine, tea or plain ol' water! The NeighborhoodCozy house situated in the historic area of Fair Haven right on the banks of the Quinnipiac River. Old fashioned neighborhood, where community comes first. I love this neighborhood for so many reasons and I hope you do too. It's unlike any other area in New Haven. Downtown New Haven is ten minutes from the house by car. Easy access to 91 and 95. Other Things to NoteWe are right up the street from the Quinnipiac River where wild parrots now live...many birds to watch! We are very close to a marina and there is a lovely Boat House Cafe open for breakfast and lunch within easy walking distance. Shopping on Grand Avenue at CTown. Elm City Market offers organic and natural foods on Chapel Street downtown. There is a great wine store across the Grand Avenue bridge called Grand Vin. Lovely River park down the street for fabulous views of the river and homes. Neighbors are friendly and we have a neighborhood association called Chatham Square where we continue to improve the area and build relationships. Unique place to live.

The SpaceThe Nash is a quaint home in the Goatville (URL HIDDEN) section of the East Rock Neighborhood of New Haven. The rooms are small, and except for the added on room (the Rio), the floors are wood. Currently there is no cable and only one shared bathroom. Guest AccessGuests have their own room and share common kitchen, bath, dining and living area- although sometimes this is needed for in-home massages. There is a washer & dryer on premise, but for safety and security, the host would do any laundry if you would like something washed here. There is also a local laundromat two blocks away. Interaction with GuestsInteraction with guests varies. My work and personal life varies in intensity and demands so there are times when I'm more available than others. Also, of course, the guests needs and desires come first many need a quiet place and time without much social interaction in between what they came to New Haven for, others like to spend more time talking over coffee, or even going out and seeing part of New Haven together. At the Nash, we want each guest to get the most out of their visit in New Haven, be it reflective time to read and study, and so on or time to engage with the host, or local scenes and activities. The NeighborhoodThe East Rock Neighborhood is known affectionately as the Grad Ghetto because of the large number of graduate students, phd candidates and other academics. The neighborhood is very diverse with many families living here as well. The Nash is two doors down from a quaint park available to BBQ in season. Getting AroundWe're one or two blocks away from either nearby bus routes, and we're walking distance to most sights in town. We're close to free Yale Shuttle stops, and not far from a variety of great restaurants, pubs, shops, museums, theaters, the beautiful East Rock Park and of course Yale itself. People wanting bike rentals are referred to our friend, found on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN); Goatville Cyclesmith, Joel LaChance. Other Things to NoteAdditional guest requires a $25 fee.

The SpaceThis is a large, bright, and furnished bedroom. It sleeps two people comfortably. The price listed is for one bedroom (up to two people). I do have an extra bedroom that would be available to rent upon request for the same rate. The house is a large 1920's Arts & Crafts Colonial with beautiful woodwork and hardwood floors. We share our home with very friendly pets- a small dog and two cats. This is a great option if you'd prefer to avoid the noise and crime of downtown, and would like to stay somewhere roomier than a tiny apartment. I have a large kitchen and backyard for you to enjoy as well! Included with your stay Pillows, blankets, and towels included Wifi connection: high-speed cable internet provided Iron & Ironing board Complimentary coffee and tea (Keurig machine) Personal space heater in case you get cold Bed, nightstand and Papasan chair or desk Details Flexible check-in/checkout times with 48-hr advanced notice Well-behaved and house-trained pets are welcome. Must provide proof of up-to-date vaccine history. Plenty of on-street parking. About the host Alina is a former student and current employee at Yale University and has lived in New Haven for 12 years, so she can answer a lot of questions for you regarding Yale and New Haven! Guest AccessYou would have a private bedroom(s) and use a shared bathroom. Use of kitchen (appliances, dishes, cookware, etc.), living room, washer/dryer, and dining room Interaction with GuestsMy boyfriend and I work during the week and have things planned in the evenings and weekends, so we're usually not home. I am accessible by email and text/phone whenever! The NeighborhoodI live very close to Yale University (1.5 miles away) and Southern CT State University (.5 miles away) I live a block away from a Natural Food Market (Edge of the Woods) and less than a mile from a major supermarket (Stop and Shop). There is a lovely pond and park to walk to down the block. Getting AroundNew Haven is easily reachable by train from NYC (the train station is about a $12 taxi ride from the house). Taxi: I recommend using Uber as it’s much cheaper (it’s like AirBnB for taxis) or you can call ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) for a local taxi. City bus: The New Haven bus stops at Goffe and Norton about every 20-30 minutes (Z line, two houses down) or at Whalley and Norton (B line, every 10-15 minutes). Both will take you downtown, and you can ask for a transfer pass if you want to go somewhere else. Yale bus: The closest Yale bus stop is about 1 mile away, at 25 Science Park. Other Things to NoteYale University has a beautiful campus. The Yale Visitor’s center is at 149 Elm St if you’d like to take a tour. Pizza New Haven is serious about pizza. The best pizza places are Modern, Pepe’s, Bar, and Sally’s. You definitely shouldn’t miss out on trying at least one of them while you are in town! Unfortunately, they don’t deliver. Hamburgers The first hamburger was invented here at Louis' Lunch. Prime 16 has fantastic burgers. Restaurants Besides pizza and hamburgers, New Haven has an amazing array of restaurants. My favorite are 116 Crown for apps/cocktails, Cash Republic for beer selection, Barcelona for tapas, Meat & Co. for sandwiches, Bella's or Lena's for brunch, Claire's Cornercopia for deserts, and Caseus for everything cheese related.

The SpaceThe rooms are located in the on the second floor of the house. There is one very large bedroom with an en suite bathroom. There is also a smaller bedroom off of the living room. Both beds are queen size, very firm memory foam, with down duvets and a variety of pillows. There is a couch and coffee table and some bookshelves in the living room. The space is very private as you have the entire second floor to yourself. Both bedrooms have small desks and dressers. I Provide clean bed-linens, towels, comforter and extra blankets as well as soap and shampoo. Guest AccessGuests also have access to the shared areas on the first floor which is a large, open, 'loft-style' living space which includes Kitchen, dining area and sitting room. There is also a huge fenced in back yard and guests are welcome to dine outdoors and have use of the grill. Guests are welcome to use the washing machine and to borrow the house bicycles - it is a 15 minute bike ride to downtown and to Yale. Right around the corner are the trail heads to East Rock Park - you can climb the 'Giant Steps' for a wonderful view of the City and the Long-Island Sound Beyond. Interaction with GuestsYour Hosts Paul and Sophie are artists - we both have studios nearby and second jobs. We have two cats, Hank lives outside on the porch and Nicky mostly lives on our bed! - They don't go upstairs and we have had guests with cat allergies who haven't been affected (we are also happy to put them out if you would (URL HIDDEN) long as its not mid-Winter!). The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a tiny little neighborhood called Cedar Hill. The house is bordered by the park and river on one side, by East Rock (great for hiking) on another side, by State street to the East and by the Highway to the South. State Street is one of the main arteries to downtown and provides us with many good restaurants and bars, the highway makes it very easy to get in and out of town and the Park and hiking trails of East Rock are where New Haven keeps fit and watches the sun set. Cedar hill is a family oriented neighborhood, its small enough that most of us know each other by sight and to say hello. Its a friendly place with its own 'neighborhood block-watch' organisation. Getting AroundThe house is 2 miles from downtown and Yale - a 15 minute bike ride or 7 minutes in the car. I have an off-street parking space for you to use. The house is also close to the Yale Shuttle Orange Route and the 'M' bus routes both of which will take you straight downtown. There are bicycles that are yours to use while you are here. Other Things to NoteI provide coffee and all sorts of teas but no-longer provide breakfast. You will have a shelf in our fridge and space in the pantry to store your own food and are very welcome to use the kitchen to cook.

The SpaceThis is the only building of its kind in downtown New Haven, a perfect spot for parents visiting their children or those making a weekend in this charming college town. The loft is a converted department store from the early 20th century - high ceilings, brick walls, arched entries. We have a very extensive collection of art, most by artists that we know and collect avidly. It's classic loft - all open spaces, with huge windows facing west overlooking the city. 1/2 block from the New Haven Green. Guest AccessThe place is all yours - gourmet kitchen, several seating areas, space for two additional guests on an inflatable air mattress. Limited privacy for guests; we'll give you details. Interaction with GuestsYou will have the entire space entirely to yourselves during your visit. We are available by cell / email to answer any questions. The NeighborhoodNinth Square is the vibrant center of downtown New Haven, filled with the city's best restaurants, art galleries, a great jazz club, and a bevy of nightclubs. It's also a thriving residential neighborhood, with an excellent gourmet market. 5 minutes walk to Yale, 10 minutes walk to historic Wooster Square. Yale's art galleries are among the best small museums in the world, with extraordinary collections in architecturally significant buildings. Getting AroundWalking distance to both New Haven train stations - Union Station is a 10-minute-walk, or a 5-minute cab ride. The downtown State Street station is open at commuter hours only, infrequently otherwise - a 3 minute walk from the flat. There is a Hertz car rental agency around the corner. There is no parking in the building, but there is an open-air lot directly behind us. They charge about $20/day, but one can come and go throughout the day for this fee. Other Things to Note3-night minimum for weekend stays.

The SpaceWhat's unique is this is a safe lovely big house (1900 sqft), yard, deck & A LOT of common space (kitchen, living rooms, office & quiet rooms), at a cul de sac dead end!! PLEASE READ IMPORTANT NOTE ON BOTTOM BEFORE YOU BOOK. Many places w/such amenities charges $100+ more per night & hotels downtown is $200+.. so it's a great value! House has some furnishings, available to share: -Large wood dining table & small kitchen table too -Chill area, chairs/rocking chair, corner tables, to read, Den chair & sofa, Magazines (mostly music), etc. -Outside Deck within railings.. (please no leaning!) -Quiet room (unfurnished, but chairs available). -HDTV/Monitor & speaker system for micro-usb devices or laptop available in den area - upon request. -(1 GUEST) - Room with 18" Twin Deluxe Air Bed, feather padding on top. -(2+ GUESTS) Room with 16" high Queen Deluxe Air bed. - If you need more than 2.. There are plenty of space to "camp" (if you wish to bring your own sleeping bag or futon). Additional 2+ more people is additional small charge. It's not a luxury hotel, but a home I live in & sharing with you. So you may see some space used e.g. if I'm cooking or cleaning. If you don't feel this & amenities listed, is enough, please let me know what you need, issues upon staying, or try booking elsewhere that meets your standards. - Due to expenses running the home, Please count all guests coming! Please be courteous of utilities (lights, heating, water, etc). - Weekly/Monthly booking is available.. please ask! - Please excuse paint/cleaning/boxes/supplies around, I'm constantly improving home & it's out of the way. If it's bothersome I can move it. OTHER ROOMMATE/GUEST : I currently have a roommate, and occasional Airbnb'rs or guest(s). IMPORTANT NOTE PLEASE READ: There has been misunderstandings w/cleanliness-- I do clean the older upstairs bathroom regularly, especially because I have health issues with dust/dirt. The reason why tub/floor/tiles look "stained" is because its just the design, older, faded & scratched. I've tried cleaning for hours with the most *powerful* chemicals, cannot remove & cannot afford more renovation than I already do. ***If you have an issue with appearance, please use the newer downstairs bathroom. Please also excuse some paint/stain buckets, boxes & cleaning supplies that might be around (but is generally out of your way).. This is my home I have been trying to improve. If it's bothersome to look at, please ask me to move it. Thank you! CANCELLATION POLICY: Please read Airbnb's policy carefully. Airbnb does not refund fees & charges host's pay when you cancel. I've been generous/flexible to allow changes day prior, even when I lose out. However, it's been *really* tough with my busy schedule, when waiting for guests (sometimes 3-4+ hours later), time coordinating, questions, preparing, checking in, touring & cleaning. - So guests will no longer receive full refund (minus fees) if you cancel/change after booking starts.*** There are only some exceptions. If guests cancel/change last minute, please understand it's my loss, as I can't easily schedule another guest last minute, and guests normally do not book the day of, so I will lose days & weekend. CANCELLATION PAYMENT: - Airbnb automatically gives full refund (minus fees), according to their policy before booking starts. - If you request after booking, they refund partial according to cancellation policy. - I am not required submit a request to Airbnb & for additional refunds, but if I do **Airbnb needs time & makes they make final decision on what to refund to you.** - Please be honest why you're canceling, for example if you find something that better fits your location, schedule, preferences, etc, please state it's your decision. Or else Airbnb team will contact hosts with reported issues to try to dispute. Guest Access- Generally I don't feel comfortable allowing check-ins without my presence. Upon accepting a booking, I believe Airbnb will auto-email further info on how to lock/unlock door & I will provide key upon arrival. If you do not receive a welcome email, please let me know. CHECK IN / CHECK OUT / ARRIVAL Please ask my availability to check you in. Usually weekdays after 6pm and weekends anytime I'm around. - Please know, homes are *not* hotels with full time staff to check you in anytime, and I often delay/reschedule/cancel my own plans to check in guests, so please respect my time like I do for guests. - I'd appreciate a 1 hour maximum time slot in case you're delayed, but please arrive the time you say you will. - Guest can have access to all common areas, such as kitchen (to prep your own food/groceries), shared bathrooms (1 with tub or 1 with walk in stone shower), dining room, yard, deck, & upstairs living room, and downstairs lounge area! If you're a musician/creative/student, etc who needs some quiet time, there is an empty quiet room downstairs to jam! I even have a small karaoke machine! Yes, KARAOKE! - High speed, WIFI available upon request. - Aid items such as Bandaids, rubbing alcohol, cotton, hydrogen peroxide, etc - Filtered water in a jug to hydrate & ice dispenser in kitchen fridge. - 1 towel per person, 1 clean pillow case over pillow, 1 clean sheet, and 1 clean cover or blanket. If you need more, please bring more. -Sorry, I'm not a maid service so I won't be cleaning your laundry or sheets daily, there is laundry access downstairs, but I can clean all borrowed items after you leave. Interaction with GuestsCurrently, my schedule is unfortunately hectic, time & budget is small, so my interaction with guests may be minimal & sometimes I'm not there, though sometimes I did hang out with guests (e.g. bonfire, or restaurant with ocean view)! I'd be happy to suggest awesome food & recreation nearby you can go to! If there is another AirBnb/Roommate/Guest, they are generally really busy but friendly. They may be doing their own thing (usually work, business, seminars, school/job hunting, etc), or maybe have time to talk/hang out. No promises on hanging out with you, but feel free to ask if you'd like to, But please don't take it personal if they are busy or do not! The NeighborhoodTown near lovely Orange & Minutes from downtown New Haven, and downtown Milford, etc. Not too far from NYC (1.5 hr train ride). Minutes drive from Yale (New Haven, and West Campus in Orange), VA hospital, New Haven University (UNH), and Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) This is *NOT* downtown, but a nice woodsy area. Location Please be prepared for your own transportation. Guests had no problem using Taxi, Uber, Bus or Bike. Please consider the Location ratings given to me may be based off personal choosing of staying here, relative to destination. Please rent elsewhere if this location is inconvenient to your destination. Plenty of shopping, recreation & nightlife near by, but transportation needed. A Deli & coffee shop is walkable distance. My neighborhood is very nice and pleasant, very quiet, sometimes dead quiet. It's at a dead end. My neighbors are nice. They have families. I'm probably one of few who aren't living with a family. It's nice living away from city noise, but close enough to events, happenings. Though CT looks vast in lands, there are a lot of variety of things to do or experience. It's also a photographer's dream. Getting AroundMinutes from Milford and New Haven train station. Walkable distance to bus line (5-15min) that leads to downtown. Busline on Plainfield Ave is not available Sundays I heard, but please check the bus schedule. Bikeable distance to downtown. 10 mins by car/taxi/uber without traffic & 20-30minutes downtown or UNH by bus. The SpaceThe house is unique because it combines beautifully the rustic and the modern. It's one of the few single family homes in Wooster Square. The views are very pretty and the location is ideal for whatever you would like to do in New Haven or Yale. Other shared areas of the house can be used for reading, eating, or relaxing. Guest AccessAccess to Wi-Fi, single bedroom, common areas (kitchen/fireside lounge, outdoor deck), and private full bathroom. Interaction with GuestsMy wife and I will be in the house during your stay if you are one person reserving one bedroom. We will not be in the house if the entire house is rented (see our other listing for the same property if you have a large group). The NeighborhoodBest neighborhood in New Haven. Quintessential New England just one block away at the Wooster Square Park. Close to historic and famous Wooster St (Pepe's and Sally's) among several other coffee shops and restaurants. Great area for walking or jogging. Getting AroundOff Street Parking is available at the house. You can use the car or bike, or you can walk less than ten minutes to get Downtown.
