The SpaceThe bedroom is large, airy, and spacious. It contains lots of storage space (has 12 drawers and 4 cupboards) that has been custom built to fit underneath the large custom dresser top. There is a large 6 foot closet right outside your bedroom door if you need additional closet space! The bedroom is located on the second floor a split-level home, which contains a den, living room, dining room, and eat-in kitchen.
You are free to use the kitchen if you clean up after yourself. I don't really cook that much, so it's readily available for you to use.
You will have your own bathroom if you are the only guest on the second floor, or if you choose to rent two rooms. Else, you will share the bathroom with another houseguest. Please clean up after yourself each day if you share the space.
The neighborhood is suburban in nature, which means there are lots of restaurants and shops, with the nearest mall only about 1.5 miles away. The nearest bus stop, which takes you to Manhattan, is about a 10 minute walk from the house. You can also take the Long Island Railroad into the city, which is about 1.1 miles from the house and also just a quick 15 minute walk from the house.
My home is beautiful, warm, spacious, and meant to be lived in! Look at the pictures and decide for yourself. You will love it here. The pool alone makes this place THE place to stay while you are here in the summer. In the fall, the foliage is fantastic. In the winter, the scene out the large picture windows will be appreciated when you are sitting in front of the gas fireplace, which is easily turned on by remote control. I love my home and you will too! Welcome to Long Island living!
Guest AccessGuests will have access to their bedroom, a shared bathroom on the same floor, a full size eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, and den. Guests may also use the yard and pool when the hosts are not entertaining their own guests (which we usually have once a week in the form of a family and backyard BBQ) Interaction with GuestsI am home daily and follow my guests guidelines as to interactions. Some like to chat and some like to be left alone. Either is okay with us. It's your decision as to how much you want to interact with us. We are friendly and always willing to engage in lively conversations but if you've had a long day at work and want to sit and read quietly, that's okay too. The NeighborhoodI love the cleanliness, the coziness, and the convenience. The house is in the suburbs and all of my neighbors maintain their properties extremely well. Landscapers and gardeners maintain common entrances and private homeowners maintain front yards. The neighborhood does not get much traffic as it only consists of four streets once you enter Hamilton Park, a subdivision of Roslyn. It's a great place to walk or jog around, with plenty of sunshine and lots of friendly people who walk and clean up after their dogs. FYI - we love dogs and cats but don't allow them as guests because of allergies. We are conveniently located to public transportation, small malls that include everything from pharmacies, pizza places, grocery stores, and shoe shops to bowling, movies, and ice skating rinks. All of these things are within 10 blocks of the house. Our home has a pool, BBQ grill, outdoor ping pong table, and plenty of lounge chairs and picnic tables around the property. It's a very relaxing place in a very relaxed neighborhood. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop 6 blocks away. The buses takes you around Long Island and to NYC, as well as to the LIRR. The Long Island Railroad stations nearby are Mineola, Manhasset, and East Williston. They will take you to NYC for about $10.00 - $15.00 roundtrip. The bus takes longer but is much less expensive (about $3.00-8.00 roundtrip) Other Things to NoteIf you want to cook your own meals, you can buy and store your food in the pantry or refrigerator. It's extremely large and can usually accommodate a few days worth of food.
