This newly renovated saltbox is hip and relaxed, with a large, spacious open plan upstairs featuring a large deck for grilling and outdoor dining and a living/dining area accessed by a spiral staircase. There are four bedrooms: three downstairs bedrooms with patio access, two with queen beds, one with an antique full bed; plus a smaller bedroom with a twin bed. There are two full baths, one downstairs with a clawfoot slipper tub, and one upstairs. There is also a spectacular outdoor shower. Private parking for two cars is included.
The structure sits on 3.5 acres, which it shares with a barn and two additional cottages, one of which is available to rent as a pair that sleeps 12 - 14. Please inquire for pricing and availability.
Block Island is a great getaway and offers bird watching, deep sea fishing, hiking and biking. 40% of the island is conservation land, so trails are abundant. There are numerous beaches ranging from sandy, family friendly beaches to the more secluded south coast beaches popular with surfers and surfcasters. Explore the main port with its cute boutiques and a variety of dining options.
Block Island is accessible by plane (a short 15-minute flight from Westerly, RI) or by ferry. Ferries depart from Point Judith, RI; Newport, RI; Fall River, MA; New London, CT; Montauk, NY; Orient Point, NY. Car reservations are available if you book well in advance on some of the ferries. From June through Labor Day, there is a 7 night minimum, and the property rents from Friday to Friday. After Labor Day, the cottage is available at a reduced rate with only a 3 night minimum stay through the end of October. The cottage is fully winterized, so those seeking a winter retreat should inquire about monthly rentals from November through March.
PLEASE NOTE that the price per night includes an 8% tax (7% sales tax + 1% hotel tax) mandated by the Rhode Island Department of Revenue as of as of July 1, 2015. The NeighborhoodThe property is located on the south coast of the island, well off the main road, in a quiet, secluded neighborhood adjacent to Peckham Pond. 40% of Block Island is conservation land, so there are numerous hiking trails just a short walk or bike ride away. Fresh Pond, perfect for swimming, is close by. Vail Beach, a beautiful sandy beach on the south coast is accessible from the main road by foot (about 20 minutes) or bike (5 minutes). Guests are not permitted to cut through the neighbor's property to the south in order to reach the beachhead cliffs.
