The SpaceNewly renovated, with simple, artistic flair. All basic needs, including extra beach towels, mosquito nets, cooking ware and a stupendous cat and adorable kitten! Located in N’Gor, the cosy beach area in northern Dakar.
We rent out between 1-2 bedrooms or sometimes our entire flat. If this room is booked, please check: www.airbnb.de/rooms/(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
Room #1 usually only has a single mattress (with mosquito net of course), a small shelf unit and a small, cushy chair. It is smaller than Room #2 (which has a double mattress and chair + desk), though both each have their own private bathroom with shower (hot water!).
How many people fit in the flat?
3-5 depending on if we're home!
We have a second guest bedroom (Room#2) you can book, which offers a double bed and more space, plus a chair + desk). If we're gone, then there's another bedroom with a double bed. All super comfy Italian orthopedic mattresses.
About the flat:
3rd floor walk-up, 3 bedrooms (each with own toilet+shower), living room, balcony, kitchen. Overlooks ocean and village. (other windows look out unto African Renaissance Monument and Lighthouse). Steps from the beach and several high quality restaurants (check out Bayekou and Cabane de Pecheur). Taxi stand, cybercafé and general boutiques just next door. The crossing for the island is also just a minute’s walk. The hip area of Les Almadies is a 15 minute walk.
The flat is really breezy and has vaulted ceilings. The flat is all newly repainted, with new mosquito nets, etc. Our style is artsy and minimal – with all your basic needs, like a super comfy "couch" called a lovesac. check it out!
About the kitchen:
All your basic needs are here, we love to cook! Note: Please DO NOT COOK MEAT OR FISH in our house - if you bring something already prepared from a restaurant, that's OK...but we are strict vegetarians and ask you not to cook it when we are here or not here. Merci! :)
The flat is pretty quiet, with some background noise of elementary school nearby, and of course, there is the occasional bleating goat and call to prayer!
We are a couple, 40 & 46 years-old, and are creative folk (writing/dancing/playing music/movie-making). We have mixed German and American backgrounds and are fluent in English, German and French, with some Wolof and Italian. We understand some British English.
The “she” of us has been living in Senegal for 13 years, so has plenty of tips and can put you in contact with local friends. The “he” of us arrived just 2 years ago and has plenty of survival tips for newcomers.
About the cats:
The dame is world traveled. 13 years old, still loves to play and needs tons of love. The kitten is 1 year old and greedy for attention. We like to keep things neat, so we keep their litterbox clean and fur off the furniture and floor.
Access to entire flat and balcony, and beach just 30 second walk! Also, the cleaning lady comes 2x a week and can do your laundry (for free!).
We really like having email and e-contact beforehand. We prefer being here to meet and greet and get our guests settled, though sometimes we are already out of town and friends do the key exchange. We are readily available on email, however!
I have been living in N'Gor for 13 years, no reason to go anywhere else in Dakar! Local beach vibe, but also has 5-star European restaurants, quick trip to the island, friendly locals. The flat is just at the edge of the village, so still in touch with real life here. Also, major supermarkets, nightclubs and restos just 10 minutes walk!
The taxi stand is literally almost outside our door! A short walk to the main street (5-10 minutes) will give you access to 10 different bus lines! Then, there's always the djagendiaye. :)
We also love to hear more about our guests during the booking process. Also, we're really looking for someone who is a cat lover. :) Guest AccessOur free twice a week cleaning lady, including any personal laundry. :)
Mostly entire flat access, though sometimes we close our office door...
And our little balcony, not yet furnished, but still nice for view and air... Interaction with GuestsWe really like having email and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) contact beforehand. We prefer being here to meet and greet and get our guests settled, though sometimes we are already out of town and friends do the key exchange. We are readily available on email, however! Getting AroundThe taxi stand is literally almost outside our door! A short walk to the main street (5-10 minutes) will give you access to 10 different bus lines! Then, there's always the djagendiaye. :) Other Things to NoteWe are both super allergic to cigarette smoke! This means two things: if you are a social smoker, please use the balcony and close door and windows behind you. If you are a heavy smoker, please consider staying somewhere else - as even the 3rd hand smoke on clothing affects us - and we do not want the molecules on our sofa, chairs, beds, either. Thanks for understanding!
