The SpaceThis a thatched house with big verandah, sitting area, kitchen, hot showers, solar power, and private parking space. 1 bedroom with double bed and a mezzanine floor with two single beds. For a fifth person, there is a sofa bed in the sitting area but it is not very comfortable and only fit for young children. The cottage has a beautiful big garden sloping down to the river Nile and a newly built 12 x 5 meter swimming pool. You can choose to do self catering or you can order "the meal of the day" from the retreat centre connected to the garden. Bird safaris on the Nile and rafting can be arranged as well as horse back safaris. The river is great for fishing too. It's the perfect place for nature lovers, so bring your binoculars! The house is 5 km away from Jinja, the second biggest town in Uganda. It is easy to arrange public transport to take you to Jinja, where you will find restaurants, supermarkets and the famous "Source of the Nile." The cottage is an ideal place to go with friends or meet family far away from your home country. Guest AccessThe guests have access to the 12x5 swimming pool and to a beautiful laid out garden of the next door retreat centre. It is a shared swimming pool. The pool is also used for guests of the retreat centre. Monday evening from 5-7 the pool is open for the staff of the retreat centre and therefore it can be busy. There are swing beds in the garden and a trampoline for any one who likes jumping. Interaction with GuestsI am available for guests if there is need. However the practical things are taken care of by the staff of the retreat centre next door. The NeighborhoodThe area is a quiet area without disco's and night life. It is near to a local village and the people in the neighborhood are very friendly and helpful. The nearest supermarket is 5 km away so carry some food or snacks for the first days. Getting AroundThere are boda boda's (motorcycle taxi's) available and the centre uses private hires to go into Jinja. The cost of a private hire is approx 6 euro's. Other Things to NoteThere are a number of tourist attractions in Jinja, such as rafting, bungee jumping, kayaking and fishing. A local fisher boat can pick you up from the house to do a bird safari on the river Nile. A list with activities and phone numbers are in the house.

The SpaceThis cottage is newly renovated and located in a beautiful garden overlooking the river Nile and is especially designed for people who love nature, birds and a quiet environment. 65 different species of birds have been spotted in the adjacent gardens. The cottage is self catering but a "meal of the day" can also be ordered from the next door retreat centre. Please order your meal a day in advance. * Big veranda overlooking the Nile * Small sitting room with bar * Kitchen with gas cooker and gas fridge * Bedroom with double bed * Bathroom with hot and cold shower * Solar powered (no power cuts) * use of 12 x 5 swimming pool The room is 5 km away from Jinja Town. A boda boda (motorcycle taxi) can be arranged for transport to and from the town to Njeru. A number of a private taxi can also be given to guests. In Jinja, you will find supermarkets and restaurants and of course the famous "Source of the Nile." Swimming and fishing in the Nile are possible and rafting or bird viewing trips can be arranged. The room is small but very cosy and ideal for people who want to be "away from the world." Guest AccessThe guests will enjoy the swimming pool, and the large garden next door with swing beds and a trampoline. There is good access to the river for fishing. Interaction with GuestsI live next door to the property and will be able to assist when needed. However, the practical things will be taken care of by the staff of the retreat centre next door. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is very quiet and away from the noise of the city. It is near a local village with friendly people who are very helpful. Getting AroundThere are a number of boda boda's (motorcycle taxi's) that will come and pick guests up and there are private hire taxi's to Jinja for approx. 6 euro's. Other Things to NoteThere are a number of tourist attractions such as rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping all within 5 km from the house. A local tourist company can pick guests up from the garden for a 2 hour trip on the River Nile.

Enjoy the birds giving you a private concert at breakfast and see the monkeys jumping in the trees.       The SpaceBaobab Cottage is perched on the cliffs of the River Nile overlooking waterfalls. The Cottage comfortably sleeps 6, two in the main bedroom, 2 upstairs and 2 can sleep on the daybeds in the living room. We can also arrange tents if you are more than 6 guests. Guest AccessGuests have full access to the whole plot and can explore the farm. Collect fresh eggs for your breakfast or request fresh fish from the fishermen on the river. Relax reading a book or go for a walk to the river and try some fishing. There are plenty of lawn games available, Croquet, Kubb, Cornhole, Netball and Badminton. In the evening sit on the deck and enjoy the amazing stars. Interaction with GuestsIf you have any trouble please ask Henry the farm manager for help. He can take the boda boda to town to buy you essential items if you run out (for a small fee). The NeighborhoodWe live in a very remote place so you will be amazed at the night sky as we have very little light pollution. Make sure you take advantage of the games lawn. We have a Croquet set, Badminton, Kubb, Boule (Petanque) plus lots of balls and rackets. Getting AroundThere are several bicycles in the Go-down store which guest may borrow (at your own risk) if you would like to explore the neighbourhood. Alternatively take a stroll through the forest on left down to the river. Other Things to NoteMalaria is bad on the River Nile. Make sure you sleep under the mosquito nets provided. Maya the cat is the resident pest controller who is very effective but may bring you the odd present (lizards and mice)! This is a thatch house in the country-side so we do have a few creepy crawlies.

      The SpaceWe live in a small tent house, and the safari tent is our spare room located in the garden. We have an outdoor cold shower and long drop toilet, outdoor shade area, outdoor kitchen and small store room. We use solar electricity to run the basics. We have a ring gas cooker and often Bbq. We have a small farm with cows, pigs, chickens , goats and a variety of crops. Guest AccessYou can enjoy the garden, look around the farm (help out if you like!), enjoy the river. You can use our shaded living room area with couch and table, and our picnic table. You can cook in our kitchen/on the bbq, and keep a small amount of perishables in our small fridge, and other food in our storeroom. You can use the toilet and shower. There is wifi available. There are some solar lights In the store and kitchen and solar lamps in the tent. Please be mindful to not waste or overuse water or the solar power. Interaction with GuestsWe both work and are parents to our baby boy. We also manage the farm and land, and have a number of community projects we oversee. And we love to kayak. So, we are quite busy, but we are interested to meet people and learn about their lives and experiences! As we live in this space there is plenty of opportunity to chat. The NeighborhoodWe are located in rural Uganda, and our relationship with our local community is very important to us. It is therefore important that our guests respect this and dress/behave appropriately when out and about locally. There are no amenities nearby and we are quite self sufficient. Any shopping needs to be brought from Jinja town or the basics from our local village. Getting AroundYou can get a Boda from Jinja Kampala road to us for 15,000 but it's a dusty journey. There are public minibuses which come this way but they are infrequent. Alternatively you can get public transport to the other side of the river to Kangalamira (near wild waters lodge) then get a public ferry to us (500 ugx/under 1usd)

If there are people staying at the main house we ask that you do not sunbathe around the pool but infront of the cottage. Interaction with GuestsWe can offer a fully catered option at minimal extra cost. Our cook Gertrude has a healthy repertoire of western foods. Her roast chicken and lasagne are to die for. The NeighborhoodThis part of the world is truly a slice of paradise. The weather is always a comfortable 25'C - 30'C. The views are to die for, in our view there is no more relaxing place in the world. Other Things to NoteWe have three friendly dogs and welcoming on the property - please do not book if you are uncomfortable with dogs. Malaria is bad on the River Nile. Make sure you sleep under the mosquito nets provided. This is a thatched cottage in the country-side so we do have a few creepy crawlies. Remember geckos eat mosquitos so they are a welcome addition to the cottage!

The local people are extremely friendly, subsistence farmers, they will be delighted to welcome you in a village walk. Please do not give the children money or sweets as this can set an unwelcome precedent. Getting AroundOur driver Juma is available in emergencies. But we recommend you bring your own vehicle to get around. We can arrange trusted taxis to and from Nile Falls house if you should need them.
