        The SpaceSince Birdsong is an island, we prefer to rent the entire facility, however under special conditions we would rent the guest cottage which has a bedroom, living room and bathroom. We have a small stern drive motor boat, two kayaks, a canoe and paddle board for the guest enjoyment. Guests should have experience driving a motor boat. There is a dock on the mainland we share with others (about 2 miles away). The town of Damariscotta is 8 miles via car from there. Other Things to NotePlease, no smoking, no fireworks, no loud music. This is a quiet refuge for wildlife as well as our mainland neighbors. A place to read a book... or write a book; relax in the sun on the two docks, swim, fish, kayak, canoe, paddle board.

        The SpaceThis is the perfect place for a quiet retreat. But within 30-45 minutes all kinds of wonderful little villages, views, hikes, restaurants etc are available. There is a superb guide book on the front hall table as well as many maps to aid in planning excursions. Guest AccessOwner only rents out when not occupying , so entire house plus kitchen and garage and laundry facilities all available. Interaction with GuestsI will not be available, but will mail detailed instructions once a reservation is made. The NeighborhoodArea is very quiet. When trees are in leaf, house is not visible from the road. Rural community, but only 15 minutes from a bustling village with shops, bookstore, cinema, restaurants. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation. Car a necessity. About 90 minutes from Portland Airport, 2 1/2 hours from Logan Airport in Boston. Other Things to NoteHouse only available after August 7th, 2016, through Thanksgiving.

This is a small community with 22 lakefront cottages. Very quiet area of the lake (except for the occasional loon calls & the camp dinner bell across the lake!) Off the beaten path with little to no road traffic. Close to many farms, and 3 miles to the public boat launch. Getting AroundParking for 3 cars in drive. Other Things to NoteLinens and towels not provided, but rental can be arranged. Pillows, blankets and comforters are supplied. No modern washer/dryer on property. Laundry mat in town (Damariscotta) but our vintage double hand-wash tub and laundry line system works very well in fine weather! Household water from new artesian well. Firewood is sold at several spots along Bunker Hill Rd (RT 213) less than a mile or two from the cottage. If you are bringing a boat please contact me for directions on pre-launch requirements (Lake and River Protection Sticker) and water directions to the cottage from the launch area which I will email. Fish are abundant in this area of the lake and there will be a map of good spots to fish all within a 5-10 minute boar ride or paddle from the dock. Please buy a license online, at the local hardware store or at the Maine welcome center just over the the Maine state line on RT 95. Loon, Osprey and Bald Eagle sightings are a very common occurrence in this area.

The whole property is accessible. There is even an elevator, an accessible bedroom with attached bath and an emergency exit ramp from the second floor. The NeighborhoodOnly 1/4 mile off of Rt 1 and 4 miles to the village of Damariscotta. "Scotty" is a great little waterfront town with all of the charm you would expect from coastal Maine. You will find great shops and restaurants, galleries and studios, one of the area's best book stores, live entertainment and even river cruises and kayak tours. Getting AroundYou will need a car for sure. Chill Lake is very centrally located and within a half hour to Camden, Boothbay Harbor, Rockland, Rockport, Pemaquid Beach, Pemaquid Lighthouse, New Harbor, Round Pond and Bath. Please be courteous in checking w/ the other renters if you require more than 2 kayaks, 1 canoe, and 1 SUP. Each property should have this number of boats, but it is easy to coordinate/share if you need more Getting AroundThe twin towns of Damariscotta/Newcastle are approximately 5 miles away and offer shopping and dining. Grocery store is on the far side of town. Take a trip down the coast to New harbor or Pemiquid point if you want a true maine lobster town. Also explore Round Pond if you want lobsters on the dock (also available in new Harbor at Shaw's Lobster Wharf). if you want bigger crowds, try Boothbay harbor. If you haven't been to Moody's Diner in Waldoboro, you haven't been to maine! Wait times are sometimes 15-20 minutes, but a great breakfast at a great price. Damariscotta River Grill and King Eider's pub downtown have very nice menus.

            The SpaceThe house is a cozy summer cottage with plenty of space for your entire family. Although you will likely spend most of your time outside enjoying the water and sun, there is a comfortable living room and dining room to relax and enjoy time with your group. We often read, do puzzles and watch movies comfortably during a rainy day. There is also enough space for cooking in the kitchen and the bathroom has recently been updated to include a full bathtub. There are three bedrooms downstairs and a finished attic accessible by ladder that has two cots and room for air mattresses. All bedrooms have space heaters and fans. The house also has a grill for outdoor cooking. Guest AccessThe house is lakefront and has a dock and floating dock to swim out to. We have several non-motorized boats. We often enjoy long sunny afternoons on the porch facing the water or leisurely time floating on rafts or swimming in the lake. The house has ample parking for 3-4 cars. There is not space on this property to launch motor boats, but the lake has several launch areas for this purpose. Boats can be docked on this' property's dock, please inquire about this if interested. Interaction with GuestsThe owners of this home live in Portland, Maine and can be accessible by phone. There are other family members who also look after the house. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is a quiet street lined with a mix of homes that are used in the summer and all year-round. The house in on a well-maintained dirt road. The main town close-by is Damariscotta which is home to many delicious restaurants and wonderful shops. There is a beach about 20 minutes away near Pemaquid Point and Boothbay Harbor is about a 30 minute drive. Close-by Newcastle is home to the Oxbow Brewery and there are many small wineries also in this area. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get around, there are also nice roads to bike on for pleasure. Other Things to NoteIf you are interested in fishing on the lake, you MUST have a license to do so. You can be ticketed and fined if you are fishing without a license.

The cottage is located minutes from Route One in the town of Nobleboro. Nobleboro is centrally located in beautiful mid-coast Maine, an hour north of Portland, thirty minutes from Camden/Rockland and Boothbay Harbor and a mere twenty minutes to Damariscotta. Maine is known as 'Vacationland' and mid-coast Maine offers the traveler endless choices all within an easy drive. 'Antiquing' (Damariscotta, Rockland, Wiscasset) to outlet shopping (Freeport, Kittery), whale watching & ocean fishing (Boothbay Harbor, Camden) to winery tours (Lincolnville), museums tours (Bath, Rockland) to art gallery browsing (Camden, Rockport), the region has it all. Pemaquid River Watershed: The 19-mile Pemaquid River starts at Tobias Pond in Waldoboro (Latitude: 44.134167 N Longitude: 69.439444 W) and ends at Johns Bay, Bristol, Maine. While we have provided high-speed wifi, the cottage is not equipped with televisions as the owners encourage guests to "unplug" during their stay.

              Dock your boat at the private slip and enjoy the lovely confines of this Newcastle home. You get a lot of amenities at this comfortable, homey cottage. Downtown Newcastle is just five miles away but you're right on lovely Damariscotta Lake with its myriad fishing and swimming spots. This two-level home has it all! The living room has a TV, vaulted ceiling, hardwood floors, a blue sofa, and beige recliners. The futon doubles as a sleeper and you can relax and gaze out on the water or head out onto the deck for some grilled goodies! Another seating area has a comfortable chair surrounding a wood-burning fireplace. The dining room has a table for six and the kitchen has a wealth of counter space, a white fridge, and range, among other accoutrements. Up to six guests will have their choice of two bedrooms separated by floors, as well as the available futon. The main-floor bedroom has a double bed and wood floors. There's a full bath down the hall. The second-floor master has a queen bed, wood ceilings, and an en-suite bath with a standalone shower. You have a private washer and dryer, cable, internet access, and access to a family farm across the road. One dog is welcome in the home with an additional fee. Newcastle is a great place to get away from it all. Hike or bike along scenic trails or spend the day fishing or swimming on the lake. It's peaceful and quiet. Spend a quite day reading a book in our perennial gardens, soak up the sun on the dock or explore the lake in our canoe or kayaks. Unspoiled Damariscotta Lake provides great swimming, boating and fishing yet we are only 10 minutes from town and the ocean. The kitchen is fully equiped for your cooking needs including microwave, dishwasher, coffee and lobster pot. The 2 bedrooms have queen size beds. The second floor loft has a full size futon and a beautiful view of the lake. Full size shower and washer /dryer are in the first floor bathroom. 2nd floor bathroom is complete with tub & shower. Boothbay Harbor, Pemiquid Lighthouse and the ocean are within 30 minutes. It's 45 minutes to Freeport & Camden. Wireless highspeed internet and digital TV are available. TV with DVD/cable is available in the livingroom. The master bedroom has a TV with cable. TV with DVD (no cable) is available in the second bedroom. There are some books, games and movies to share.                 Welcome to Chill Lake House! Situated directly on the shore of beautiful 7 mile long Pemaquid Pond, this stunning 3,000 square foot house has been completely renovated and professionally decorated to provide you with comfort, beauty and an abundance of upscale amenities. Although it's very private and quiet, you are only 1/4 mile to Route 1 and within a half hour to Boothbay, Camden, Pemaquid, Rockland and Bath. Chill Lake House is the perfect home base for your mid-coast vacation! The main living area features a large, open floor plan with wood floors, new furniture and a stone gas fireplace. There is a gorgeous open kitchen with quartz countertops and all new stainless appliances, including a gas stove/oven, dishwasher and french door fridge. There are three bedrooms on the main (2nd) floor, all with new mattresses and their own attached bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed and large bathroom with a new vanity, tile floor, separate shower and soaking tub. There is also a large queen bedroom and a third bedroom that has a brand new queen bed. We also stock the lake house with high quality duvets and sheets, cozy bath towels and new beach towels. On the lower level there is another large living area with a huge wood burning fireplace, a sectional couch, 2 recliners and 50 " hi-def flat screen TV. There is also a game area and a small office area. There is a queen sized pull out sofa and a half bath, so this large area is private and well suited to accommodate 2 more guests. There is also a twin bed that we can set up upon request For your convenience there is central air conditioning, wifi and an automatic generator. The house was designed specifically with accessibility in mind. It provides wheelchair access from the entry all the way to the private dock. The interior space is very open and there is an elevator. The accessible bedroom has an extra-wide attached bath with roll-in shower, roll under sink and grab bars. For peace of mind, there is an emergency exit directly from the 2nd floor accessible bedroom with an exterior ramp. Even the dock is accessible and can be enjoyed by all. There is a good sized yard and a private dock from which to enjoy boating, swimming and fishing. There is a fire pit and several adirondack chairs in which you can relax. We now also provide guests with the use of 2, 10ft recreational kayaks. The lake itself is approximately 7 miles long, is known as one of the warmest lakes in the area and is great for swimming. It also provides access to several other connecting lakes via kayak and is a great spot for boating of all kinds. The property is a short walk to a small park with a boat launch and ball field. Even though it is super quiet, Checkerberry is centrally located just 1/4 mile off of Rt. 1, only 4 miles from the Village of Damariscotta and about half way between Boothbay Harbor and Camden.
