This lodge is in a uniquely rustic setting, ideal for couples, groups of friends and families, small conferencing (30 U-Shape and 65 School room) and special events.
The 7 exclusive units at KwaThabisile are a celebration of rustic African chic. Crisp percale cotton sheets and feather duvets and pillows, are all beautifully complimented by a stylish collection of personal momentos from Alexandra’s travels across Africa.
All 7 units are self-catering, and we have a total of 11 bedrooms. We can accommodate up to 45 people/ (65 people split in 2 groups, however, all sharing meals in either the boma or conference room). The rooms accommodate 11 couples, 11 singles, 22 sharing or more.
The Italian Prisoners’ of War originally built the Old Thabisile farmhouse, steeped in history. It has since been converted into 3 self-catering units, 2 of which can be interlinked. Here you have Antelope and Bushbaby units (both are interlinked with double doors for privacy) as well as the Chameleon Unit.
The Original Thatched House which has been converted into 3 units are full of rustic charm and character. Here you have the Duiker, Eland and Flycatcher units. These are each semi-detached with their own private entrance and verandah.
There is also the old barn, Giraffe unit that has been converted into a quaint open plan studio.
Should you want to book the lodge EXCLUSIVELY we require a minimum of 22 people and can comfortably accommodate up to 40 people depending on the configuration of the group. We have two 2 bomas, one caters for 20 people (Bushbaby unit) and a larger boma (Eland unit) which can cater for up to 60 people.

We can tailor make meals for you, which need to be pre-arranged should you prefer to be catered for. Guest AccessYou can also have the pleasure of eating sumptuous poolside breakfasts overlooking the magnificent Valley, wander down to the pond, or enjoy invigorating walks through the bush accompanied by game and the songs of abundant birdlife accompany your every move.

Children can enjoy the trampoline, swings and our ‘Old Landie’ pretending to go on Game Drives under the tree which is also a perfect climbing tree!
We have a communal TV room with DSTV for those wanting to watch a sports match that cannot be missed or the anticipated movie. Here you can also play a fun game of TableTennis.

The units are all self-catering, however we are more than happy to come and make your bed, clean the dishes and bring you more wood for your fire. Some guests enjoy their privacy and need to communicate with us on your arrival should you not want to be disturbed. Any information or special requests are more than welcome and will assist wherever we can. We do ask for the person who makes the booking to make arrangements with us for any requests to avoid confusion from other parties in your group.
We do have a NO MUSIC policy unless you book the whole lodge. This also includes music played on cellphones by the pool as there may be other guests enjoying the sounds of nature. The NeighborhoodIn the heart of Gauteng, Dinokeng 'a place of rivers', is where you will find KwaThabisile Game Lodge nestled in a 400ha Leeuwkloof Valley Conservancy.
The Conservancy consists of a number of private farms, some are fenced off as they have breeding programs with exotic game such as Roan Antelope, Golden Wildebeest, Black Impala and Nyala.
We do have a variety of friendly game such as Impala, Zebra, Wildebeest, Waterbuck and Eland … Here you will be able to see them on a stroll through the bush. We do have game that occurs naturally such as Duiker, Warthog, Jackal and Porcupines. We boast a variety of over 250 species of birds bringing the Valley to life with their songs!

Getting AroundUnfortunately we do not recommend taking public transportation and will need a car to reach us. Should you need us to assist you with a transfer, we will be more than happy to put you in touch with our preferred supplier.
From here you can also experience the 3 hubs of Dinokeng, Roodeplaat dam (Nature Reserve and Water sports activities), Cullinan (Our historical Village and Refilwe Township Tours) and our Dinokeng Game Reserve (where you can experience the first Big 5 free roaming game in Gauteng) Other Things to NoteWe require a minimum booking of 2 nights over a weekend and 3 nights over a long weekend.
We do charge an additional fee for extra guests that stay in the unit as we are able to provide extra beds when necessary.
Should you decide to make a group booking, we will correspond with the ‘group organiser’ so as not to lead to any confusion. This includes payments or any other requests made to us.
