The SpaceOn the Sudbury River just a 30-minute drive from Boston and Cambridge, we have a 2-room private cabin with its own entrance and enclosed veranda attached to one end of our house. Paneled in solid pine, it is rustic in look but newly constructed with up-to-date facilities including central heating, a new wood-burning stove, a steam room shower in the private bath, a skylight, and a "breeze-way" veranda. The standard-size double bed sleeps two comfortably and there is an empty closet in the entry hall for your things. (Please note: There are red curtains on all the windows. These photos were taken when a set of curtains was down being cleaned.) Guest AccessWiFi access, towels, linens, blankets are all provided as well as an electric kettle and a small selection of teas, coffee, cocoa, and hot and cold cereal for breakfast in the breezeway room off the bedroom. There is also a large cooler for perishable snacks and food. If you have a child or a third guest, the trundle-bed sofa in the room easily works as a bed for small adults and any child who's 4 or older. The NeighborhoodIdeal for a weekend getaway from Boston, canoeing and kayaking on the river, hiking and cycling, and local history tours, there are numerous attractions nearby. The Sudbury River, Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, and the Pantry Brook Wildlife Area are within walking distance (5 min or less). Thoreau's Walden Pond, the Old North Bridge, Drumlin Farm Wildlife Sanctuary, the Decordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Hawthorne's Old Manse, the Louisa May Alcott House, Longfellow's Wayside Inn, and the historic Revolutionary War battle fields of Concord and Lexington are all within a 15-minute drive.

The SpacePrivate bed, bath, and sitting room in a unique location with a pretty water view. Just minutes to Concord and 30 minutes to Cambridge and Boston. Hike from the front door to Thoreau’s Walden Pond. Many nearby historical and literary destinations. My wife and I feel lucky to live here and we are happy to share it with guests. We have a lovely view of Farrar Pond, a small lake that wraps around our house and its gardens. Across the street is a conserved forest that stretches all the way to Walden Pond. The trails offer excellent walking, cycling, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. We have easy auto access to good local restaurants and farm stands. Without traffic, we’re a half hour from the Harvard campus and Boston. Guests always have access to their rooms, our grounds, and wifi. In the summer a fan is available; the space is not air-conditioned. The sitting room has HD TV. We have trail maps to lend. Our BnB rooms are on a separate floor, a lower level, so our guests have some privacy. Every guest enjoys the beauty of our neighborhood, but those who are curious about history, nature, and/or New England writers will have the richest experience here. The sitting room can accommodate up to two "extra" guests ($20 per night per person). A continental breakfast is usually available on request. Use of the kitchen is not part of what we offer. Guest AccessGuests always have access to their rooms, our grounds, wifi, and some refrigerator space. The sitting room has HD TV. We have trail maps and snowshoes to lend. Laundry available by arrangement. Interaction with GuestsOur BnB rooms are on a separate floor so our guests have as much privacy as they wish. How much my wife and I interact with them depends on their needs and our schedules. Sometimes, when we travel, we just want a pleasant accommodation, whereas other times we welcome interaction with our hosts. We assume that our guests vary similarly—and that they understand that our availability may vary due to our family, work, and community commitments. The NeighborhoodEvery guest enjoys the beauty and convenience of our neighborhood, but those who are curious about history, nature, and/or New England writers will have the richest experience here. Getting AroundTrain service is available from Boston and Cambridge to Lincoln. Although it is possible to walk from the train station, it is not too convenient; most guests use cars. Other Things to NoteOccasionally guests have been disappointed because they assumed that they would have access to kitchen facilities. We hate to see anyone disappointed! Although we do our best to accommodate special requests, regular kitchen use is not part of our offering.

The SpaceThe tranquility of the space, lots of glass to see out... with no clutter and clean lines, little color let your brain rest. The home is really all about the windows to the outside. The birds are chirping to wake you and bullfrogs to lull you to sleep. Guest AccessIf I am away the whole home as well as the outdoors. Interaction with GuestsHappy to help with whatever you need. Have lived in this house for 22 years and renovated every inch of the inside and out. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood has 1.5 acre zoning so everyone has plenty of space. We have our home set way back on the lot and when the foliage is all grown in it is hard to see the neighbors. Getting AroundWe r a little less than 2 miles from the commuter rail into Boston and Cambridge. Ideally it would be better to have a car here.

The SpaceYou are renting the private downstairs two-bedroom apartment. Both bedrooms have queen beds. There is a private bathroom (tub and shower) and a large den with a sliding door that leads directly to the backyard and the pathway to the driveway. You have your own TV, Blu-Ray player, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and electric teapot. Food provided includes regular and herb tea, coffee, sweeteners, hot chocolate, snacks, candy, bottled and seltzer water. I have coolers you can use for any perishables that don't fit in your apartment fridge. There is a built-in "kitchen" cupboard for all your own supplies. Your 55-inch HDMI TV comes with all cable channels as well as HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and Netflix. I have a large DVD collection and selection of board games. The super high-speed Wi-Fi has a strong signal downstairs. There are two laptop-height tables and a card table with 4 chairs. The thermostat for the central air conditioning/heat is in your space so you may adjust it to suit your personal preferences. The washer, dryer, ironing board and iron are also downstairs. Guest AccessCome and go as you wish. The check-in time is flexible. I know it is hard to make precise plans or predict delays. Preferred check-out is by 10:00 a.m. but that is also flexible depending on whether or not there are new guests arriving that day. Interaction with GuestsI would love to get to know you, share a pot of coffee and chat, but I also respect your privacy. I am here to help with questions or suggestions or assist you in any way to make your stay and entire experience in this area live up to your hopes. I honor the privacy of your space but will do any dishes in the morning and empty the trash as needed. I don't smoke but I know some people do. You are welcome to smoke anywhere outside. There are two lawn chairs and a small table on your patio. The NeighborhoodMy house is in the rural farming part of Concord and located on a quiet cul de sac all of which abuts conservation land. There are miles of conservation trails suitable for hiking, jogging or dirt biking within walking distance. The only noise you will likely hear at night is the resident barred owl or, in March, April and May the chorus of spring peepers. Thoreau has written about his walks in this area. Within a few minutes drive there is a pizzeria (that also delivers), a neighborhood bar and restaurant, liquor store, Dunkin' Donuts, convenience store and gas station along with the Verrill Farm Stand - a noted attraction throughout the greater Boston area for its home-grown produce, home-made pastries and ready-to-eat take-out meals. Getting AroundIt's an eight minute drive to Concord center and all its attractions and the Minuteman National Historical Park. Walden Pond is just down the road. The commuter rail station into Boston is five minutes away. For a schedule and all stops go to (URL HIDDEN) and click on "Fitchburg." That will bring up the full schedule - you want the Concord station (not West Concord) "inbound" to get to Boston. You will end up at North Station and be able to connect to various subway lines from there. Approximate Driving Times With Normal Traffic: Cambridge 25 minutes, Boston a half hour and Logan Airport 40 minutes. (Massachusetts drivers deduct 5-10 minutes from all estimates...). We also have Uber which is about $35 to get to Boston and $50 to the airport. Local rides cost about $10.00. You are within a 10-minute drive to Wayland, Lincoln, Acton and Maynard and 20 minutes away from Stow, Carlisle, Westford, Littleton, Bedford, Harvard (town of), Waltham, Marlborough and Lexington. Arlington, Bolton, Berlin, Natick, Framingham and Wellesley are about a 25-minute drive; Worcester and Lowell 40 minutes. Other Things to NoteI am "family friendly" but only for older children. I don't take dogs but there is an excellent boarding facility 10 minutes away (Palmer Kennels). Concord has very strict guidelines for operating a guest house. I have a current Certificate of Occupancy so you may stay here with the confidence that this listing has been inspected by the Town and has met all safety requirements. You will be parking in my private driveway off the street. There is room for several cars.
