The SpaceYou are renting the private downstairs two-bedroom apartment. Both bedrooms have queen beds. There is a private bathroom (tub and shower) and a large den with a sliding door that leads directly to the backyard and the pathway to the driveway. You have your own TV, Blu-Ray player, small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster and electric teapot.
Food provided includes regular and herb tea, coffee, sweeteners, hot chocolate, snacks, candy, bottled and seltzer water. I have coolers you can use for any perishables that don't fit in your apartment fridge. There is a built-in "kitchen" cupboard for all your own supplies.
Your 55-inch HDMI TV comes with all cable channels as well as HBO, Showtime, Starz, Cinemax and Netflix. I have a large DVD collection and selection of board games. The super high-speed Wi-Fi has a strong signal downstairs. There are two laptop-height tables and a card table with 4 chairs.
The thermostat for the central air conditioning/heat is in your space so you may adjust it to suit your personal preferences. The washer, dryer, ironing board and iron are also downstairs. Guest AccessCome and go as you wish. The check-in time is flexible. I know it is hard to make precise plans or predict delays. Preferred check-out is by 10:00 a.m. but that is also flexible depending on whether or not there are new guests arriving that day. Interaction with GuestsI would love to get to know you, share a pot of coffee and chat, but I also respect your privacy. I am here to help with questions or suggestions or assist you in any way to make your stay and entire experience in this area live up to your hopes. I honor the privacy of your space but will do any dishes in the morning and empty the trash as needed.
I don't smoke but I know some people do. You are welcome to smoke anywhere outside. There are two lawn chairs and a small table on your patio. The NeighborhoodMy house is in the rural farming part of Concord and located on a quiet cul de sac all of which abuts conservation land. There are miles of conservation trails suitable for hiking, jogging or dirt biking within walking distance.
The only noise you will likely hear at night is the resident barred owl or, in March, April and May the chorus of spring peepers. Thoreau has written about his walks in this area.
Within a few minutes drive there is a pizzeria (that also delivers), a neighborhood bar and restaurant, liquor store, Dunkin' Donuts, convenience store and gas station along with the Verrill Farm Stand - a noted attraction throughout the greater Boston area for its home-grown produce, home-made pastries and ready-to-eat take-out meals. Getting AroundIt's an eight minute drive to Concord center and all its attractions and the Minuteman National Historical Park. Walden Pond is just down the road. The commuter rail station into Boston is five minutes away. For a schedule and all stops go to (URL HIDDEN) and click on "Fitchburg." That will bring up the full schedule - you want the Concord station (not West Concord) "inbound" to get to Boston. You will end up at North Station and be able to connect to various subway lines from there.
Approximate Driving Times With Normal Traffic: Cambridge 25 minutes, Boston a half hour and Logan Airport 40 minutes. (Massachusetts drivers deduct 5-10 minutes from all estimates...). We also have Uber which is about $35 to get to Boston and $50 to the airport. Local rides cost about $10.00.
You are within a 10-minute drive to Wayland, Lincoln, Acton and Maynard and 20 minutes away from Stow, Carlisle, Westford, Littleton, Bedford, Harvard (town of), Waltham, Marlborough and Lexington. Arlington, Bolton, Berlin, Natick, Framingham and Wellesley are about a 25-minute drive; Worcester and Lowell 40 minutes. Other Things to NoteI am "family friendly" but only for older children. I don't take dogs but there is an excellent boarding facility 10 minutes away (Palmer Kennels).
Concord has very strict guidelines for operating a guest house. I have a current Certificate of Occupancy so you may stay here with the confidence that this listing has been inspected by the Town and has met all safety requirements.
You will be parking in my private driveway off the street. There is room for several cars.
