    The SpaceNorfolk, Connecticut is central to Berkshire mountain hiking and cross-country skiing. This Victorian 2-family house is located a few blocks from Infinity Hall (see performance schedules online). In summer, Norfolk offers a private lake plus 3 nearby summer classical music festivals: Yale Summer Chamber Festival, Music Mountain and Tanglewood. The private apartment consists of 3 bedrooms with a kitchen, a simple backyard with picnic table and grill. Located in the village yet far away from the noise of the road, adjacent to beautiful trails, restaurants, antiques stores, AND a drop-dead gorgeous library - all within walking distance. There is no public transportation directly into the town. It is a quiet, safe, and highly enjoyable neighborhood with lots to offer. Guest AccessThis is a two family home with two entirely separate apartments. Guests have the 2nd floor. There are two separate entrances and no shared interior spaces between the apartments. The downstairs is occupied by one courteous, quiet, working person. Interaction with GuestsThe guests have the apartment to themselves. Booking for the entire space is the norm, and unchanged once booked. Getting AroundThere is no public transportation to and around Norfolk. Restaurants, the bank, post office, liquor store, antiques and craft shopping, and the library are within a block or two away. Trails too!

You may park in our driveway or in front of the house. Your entrance is from the front of the house where you enter from the front porch. Other Things to NoteThe southern Berkshire Hills have a lot to offer, from shopping in Great Barrington, exploring countless miles of hiking trails available everywhere, or catching a concert at the gorgeous and historic Infinity Hall in Norfolk, CT. Each level has stunning waterfall, wooded and garden views! It is within walking distance to Infinity Hall and fine dining. The Yale School of Music and Art is across the street.     The SpaceThe Estate House was originally a 200+ year-old-barn, it is now an ultimate world class home available for your guests. There is so much to offer with this home: 6 bedrooms in all: A ground floor master with king bed, music room – upright piano, drum set and full bath with stone shower. The other 5 bedrooms are on the 3rd floor as well as another laundry room. (See below for the full list of bedroom details and the bed sizes for each room.) The main floor has an enormously over-sized Boffi Kitchen with 3 sinks, 2 dishwashers, 6 burner gas stove, gas grill and much much more… the great room has a huge fireplace and setting for all your guests. The dining room has seating for 12 and a second table can easily be brought in to seat larger gatherings. There is a spacious media room with flat screen tv/dvd player and satellite tv. The sound system is wired throughout the house and will play your ipod or a fun assortment of cd’s – old school style! The true gem of the estate house is the yoga dance room with baby grand piano and wet bar. The dance room has direct access to the sunset porch with benches that face west. A cocktail with the sunset views will make you feel like you are on a cruise! The Farmhouse is the guest house to Roughland estate but it is not missing any of the bells, whistles or charm. Separated by a long sweeping driveway and about 250 feet from the Estate house, the farmhouse is a gem onto itself. Surrounded by established perennial flower borders and a stone terrace off the kitchen, this lovely, maintained and updated home goes back over 200 years! We have outfitted this home for maximum sleeping capacity: The ground floor has a stately king master with sitting area, wood-burning fireplace and walk-in closet. This master bedroom has its own full bathroom with claw foot soaking tub and separate shower. There are two bunk beds, just off the kitchen and a cozy full bedroom in the library, also on the main floor. Upstairs 4 other bedrooms. (See below for the full list of bedroom details and bed sizes for each room.)These bedrooms share two full bathrooms: one with tub/shower and the other with a claw foot soaking tub only. The third floor hosts the story book attic – a most charming space! It has a full bed and twin. There is also a day bed that would easily sleep another child. There is a pick and eat vegetable garden, orchard, apple trees, blueberries, and well established perennial beds. The pond is spring fed and glorious for swimming with its sandy beach access and stone quarry border effect. The Gazebo is fun for yoga, hanging out, ping-pong… it’s just fun! The outdoor shower located on the stone terrace of the gazebo has hot water. There is plenty of outdoor seating, a huge gas grill AND a fire pit. Just nearby the willow tree is a fun trampoline for kids of all ages and across the way is a horse shoe pit and field for games. The side yard features a full size tee-pee for seasonal use and there are lovely wooded walking trails… It is heaven!     Surrounded by protected green space for dozens of acres of rolling hills and woods, the property has a fire pit, a swing set and climber for kids, and lots of space to run around and explore. A large front porch overlooks the front yard, perfect for enjoying morning coffee or an early evening cocktail. A large screened-in porch faces the back yard, where the barbecue grill generally lives. The large back yard is the perfect place for kids to play and for informal family soccer or football games. Beyond the yard are more woods to explore. Inside the house, a large den, formal dining room, sun room, and a study contain two decorative fireplaces. The kitchen has a large Viking stove with six burners and two ovens with plenty of room for large dinner parties. The house is furnished with everything you need for your stay, including bed linens, towels, kitchen equipment, cooking staples and basic toiletries. Six bedrooms occupy the second floor, including four queen beds, along with two rooms with a total of five twin beds. The house comfortably sleeps twelve. Entertainment in the house includes ping pong, foosball and two television sets with DVD players. The house is close to the Norfolk town center, skiing, the public town pond, a playground, soccer field, tennis courts, four state parks, wineries, Music Mountain and tubing on the Farmington River. In Norfolk, there are restaurants and the famous Infinity Hall, an incredible setting for viewing music and other performances. The Yale Music School holds performances on their beautifully-landscaped grounds at the center of town throughout the summer and the Norfolk public library is an architectural gem with a great kids’ room. A farmers’ market runs from late spring to mid-fall every Saturday. The town of Winsted has lots to offer including go carts, mini-golf, duck pin bowling, batting cages, a free-public skate park, and a dinner movie theater. Scenic towns nearby for great day trips include Great Barrington, Salisbury, Kent and Litchfield. This setting is perfect for a small retreat or family get-away you will always remember.

      This two bedroom apartment sleeps 6 and is on the upper floor of a charming, 1890 Victorian house in the village of Norfolk. You have a private entrance and can come and go as you please. The kitchenette has a small frig, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee press and slow cooker. No oven or stove. Apartment is very clean and dust-free, with no carpets.
