We do not have central air, but we have window units in the rooms that we use the most. We have ceiling fans, and a whole house fan that really helps cool it down at night. The 2nd flight of stairs is open on the side, so if you have a hard time with steps, our home might not be suitable for you. Guest AccessWe will give you a quick tour when you arrive so you can make yourself at home, and then leave you to settle in. We have a Jacuzzi tub in our casual living room that you are free to enjoy; just let us know if you would like to use it and we will retreat to the man cave or outside if it is nice, since it is not private. My husband put it in when we were renovating the house so we could relax, watch TV, and enjoy the fireplace.
We have a treadmill, weight system, and 82 inch HD TV in the man cave that you can use during your stay. Also, a selection of dvd's if you want to watch movies, a Wii and X-Box with a decent selection of video games for entertainment if you like to game; and we have a nice selection of classic board games too.
We have a large beautiful private yard that is the perfect place to sit back and relax without other people looking in. It has 6 foot privacy fence surrounding our corner lot with many trees and bushes with a lighted fountain, lots of solar décor, gazing balls, statues, abundance of flowers, a covered deck with grill, mini fridge, chiminea, Capistrano fountain, ceiling fan, lanterns, and the rope lights along with all the solar decor really make it beautiful at night. We also have an open deck with a fire pit and log furniture surrounded by trees and flowers. We are out in the yard almost every night doing something during warm season, so you won't see house in the house much. We also have croquet and badminton if you would like to play.
Check in is 4pm , check out is 11am. We can work with you depending on the day if you need to check in earlier or out later; just let us know if you have something special going on; we are pretty easy going. Interaction with GuestsThis is our home, so we will be present during your stay. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything you need, or we can do, to make your stay more comfortable. We respect your privacy and that you probably just want to relax after your trip, so we will leave you alone and up to you to decide how much interaction you feel comfortable having with us; please don't feel obligated to do so. I will check from time to just to see if you would like something. The NeighborhoodYou can walk to what they call our downtown in approximately 5 minutes. El Paso is a small older farming town where the neighborhoods can be a mix of single family homes, duplexes, apartments, mobile homes; which makes it unique from a larger city or town since the homes are a little more spaced apart and not on top of each other. It is pretty quiet most of the time, and you feel safe walking around town. There is a nice park down the street with basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, ball fields, pool, disc golf, walking trail and pond, that you can walk to in about 5 minutes. El Paso is about 20 miles North of Bloomington/Normal and 40 minutes from Peoria, where both cities have everything you could want. There is a guest book in the room with local and nearby restaurants, bars, in town shopping, entertainment, hospitals, golf courses, city parks, movie theaters, etc. Getting AroundYou can park in the driveway on the right side and come in the side door to the man cave (deck), and we also have extra parking on the side of our house next to the street. There are no taxi or bus services in El Paso. Other Things to NoteWe just removed an old tree next to our driveway and will be replacing the fence. It is a little torn up and looks like crap right now, but that will not impact your stay. There is a small lot with 4 mobile homes across the street from the side of our house, and a few next door to us that you can see right now until we get our new fence up. We live in a mixed neighborhood of houses, duplexes, mobile homes. I am only noting this so people know what to expect when they come. We renovated this house which was built in 1920, and we like where we live because we have never had any trouble here and it is a nice little town to live in.
We have 2 guest rooms available, so it is possible there might be other guests present during your stay. We hope guests will be able to work with one another for bathroom occupancy etc. We will try and let you know when you book if there will be other guests here.
