All cooking and eating utensils, pots/pans, plates and other crockery are provided for your convenience. There are 3 grocery/convenience stores within 10-15 minutes drive. Complimentary coolers with freeze-packs are provided for your use on the property, on your boat or at the nearby beaches and picnic areas. Hilltop Lodge is 'unplugged' with no cable TV/Internet/AC. NOTE: THE CABINS ARE 1920'S ERA AND ALL INCLUDE STAIR ACCESS POINTS; THERE ARE NO RAMPS AS OF THIS WRITING. IF YOU REQUIRE SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION(s), PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE TO INQUIRE. Weekly rentals are usually Saturday to Saturday. We occasionally accept nightly bookings to fill gaps within our weekly booking schedule, so please email or call the office to confirm if there is any nightly availability in your timeframe of interest, especially if last minute. Guest AccessSandy beaches are nearby at two popular Ontario Provincial Parks at Long Point and at Turkey Point or via boat access from our marina. Check the "Guidebook" for info on many of the area attractions such as 'African Lion Safari' that you won't want to miss. There are two restaurants with available boat access/dockage for diners arriving by small craft, one in Port Rowan and the other at Turkey Point Marina Basin. NOTE: These are not 'gourmet' venues, but worth a try especially if you like people-watching over a beverage and a snack on their outside patios. The protected waters of the bay and its marshes are perfect for the kayaker, canoer, windsurfer or the avid outdoors person. Guests are welcome to take advantage of our single and tandem kayaks for use on the Inner Bay only. Should you wish to take any kayak in your vehicle to navigate other nearby waterways such as Big Creek or the Hahn Marsh, you only need to leave us a fully refundable deposit of $300 Canadian (cash only please) and sign some paperwork (sorry...lawyers). Bass and yellow perch fishing are two of the species fishers seek in both amateur and professional tournaments every year. Fishing licenses are sometimes hard to get locally, so remember to go online and purchase them before your arrival and be sure to print out the proof of purchase along with your license(s). Birdwatchers also flock to the adjacent UNESCO-designated Long Point World Biosphere Reserve for the phenomenal birding opportunities. The fact that Bird Studies Canada is located only minutes away from Hilltop Lodge is proof-positive of the plethora of waterfowl and songbirds that migrate through this region. Lush Carolinian woodlands are also native to the area with a number of Crown Forest trails available nearby. The Hilltop Lodge property boasts what is perhaps the largest Hackberry tree (a rare Carolinian species) known in Norfolk County, towering over 150 feet above the waters of Long Point's Inner Bay -- not to mention the massive maples, pine and spruce trees. Interaction with GuestsAs little or as much as the guests wish :) We value and respect your privacy. We have a pet house cat on the premises. Unless you've made special arrangements with us, pets are not permitted, with the exception of service animals such as seeing-eye dogs. PLEASE let us know your situation IN ADVANCE; as we'll certainly do our absolute best to provide accommodations on a case basis. The NeighborhoodHilltop Lodge Cottages & Marina is located just outside of picturesque St. Williams ((PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)), Ontario, Canada which is conveniently located near Port Dover, Turkey Point and Port Rowan. These and other small villages off the beaten path are where you'll find quaint little shops with rare treasures, farm market stands of fresh local fruit and veggies, not to mention innumerable scenic viewpoints such as the iconic Long Point Lighthouse. For easy access to shopping, dining, winery tours, eco adventures, and even star-gazing using our 4" reflector telescope you can't beat Hilltop Lodge. On certain nights, you can even see the Milky Way with the naked eye due to the pristine, clear skies above Hilltop Lodge. Use the 'star-chart' in your rustic cabin to find Polaris, The Big & Little Dippers, Orion, 7 Sisters and many other constellations. Check the "Guidebook" for info on many of the area attractions such as 'African Lion Safari' that you won't want to miss. Getting AroundWith our adjacent marina, we encourage guests to bring their small craft boats up to 26 feet overall length can be accommodated. Please contact us with the draft and beam dimensions of your boat so that we can reserve the proper dockage slip for your small craft. HELPFUL HINT: We have found that the various mapping sites on the web often contain mistakes. Therefore, if you are using any such maps double check it with satellite images such as G-o-o-g-l-e Earth and your GPS or in-vehicle navigation system. The GPS Co-ordinates indicated mark the St. Williams Lighthouse & our Marina entrance channel. The easiest way to find Hilltop Lodge is navigate to the town of Saint Williams, go South & watch for the signs at the left (east) side of the road. From St. Williams, you'll be heading south on Townline Street till it goes down a steep hill with a slight turn to the left. Just as you're approaching this downhill slope put on your left turn signal and watch for the entrance sign to Hilltop Lodge as you're descending. If you get to the water you just went a little too far. Make a U-turn and go back a few hundred feet. Other Things to NoteSmoking is NOT allowed inside the cabin, yet guests are most welcome to use tobacco out of doors at any time. Please use ashtrays provided. THANK YOU!!
