From Airport catch local buses (J1 or J2) to city and then catch the bus mentioned above to come to my place (just under AUD $5.00 to travel for 2 hours). Taxi takes about 7 minutes to 20 ish mins depending on traffic/time of day). Other public transport fares are: day ticket on all transport = $9.70; Adelaide for 3 consecutive days of unlimited travel =$25. Other Things to NoteI first listed my property in late Sept 2014, letting people know they could book from mid-October on my return. The SpaceThe Butlers has a clubby (old English Gentleman club)atmosphere. The drawing room has a bay window with a cosy open fire, polished floors and nice comfortable “slip in to something” furniture from the 1920’s. Two large bedrooms both with fireplaces lead off the hallway with king, antique nickel plated queen & single beds, antique dressing tables and wardrobes. The well-lit bathroom is huge with an original claw and ball cast iron bath and tessellated floor tiles. The kitchen has the feel of a country kitchen with a big country timber dresser and kitchen table; this is where the butler mixed drinks for the master of the household. There is a cellar set up with a Barossa Valley stretcher plank dining table and chairs for intimate dinner parties and a breezeway with a cane tables and chairs. This has a comfortable, cosy feel and is great for two couples or a family. Buxton Manor gardens include bbq area and sun lounges you can relax and enjoy a good book in. Interaction with GuestsI am available by telephone to answer all guests questions at any time. The SpaceWas bought, restored and added to North Adelaide Heritage Group collection in June 2001. Stanley Cottage was built in 1880. Historically this cottage together with a number of adjoining others were built as a philanthropic gesture by wealthy colonial benefactors (Names such as Elder, Barr Smith, Bonython, Simpson, Simms & Murray) only 37 years after the colony was founded. They were essentially for aged and poor widows. Externally the cottage remains remarkably original, complemented to the west by cottages of similar scale & detailing. The extent and nature of these rows is reminiscent of ‘Almshouses', such rows rarely found in South Australia. Typical Twiss touches are used aesthetically as well as practically, such as a real wall mounted wooden propeller blade from a bi-plane, substantial collectors Tasmanian Huon pine chest of eight drawers and robe, Ariston Hi-tech washer/dryer, large flat screen TV, a museum condition, 100 year old sea grass sun lounge, gilt mirrors and a selection of exciting large limited edition prints. Lighting, both natural and artificial is superb at all times. Colouring is three shades of light creme which tones warmly with the highly polished Baltic floors. Guest AccessDetailed visitor information & booking service available Complimentary selection of Tbar tea, instant & plunger coffee Selection of International glossy magazines & novels Complimentary delivery of Room Service ˜Beyond India Metres from the Adelaide Connector Bus stop featuring the worlds first Solar Bus, ˜Tindo operating daily from 8AM to 6PM Interaction with GuestsWe enjoy speaking to our guests and have a wealth of knowledge about Adelaide and the surrounding regions that we live to share with our guests The NeighborhoodThe wide boulevard is quiet and residential but within 100 metres of the legendary pub the "Kentish Arms Hotel"the boutique cafes and restaurants of Melbourne Street, including the famous "Lion Hotel", known for its cuisine and hospitality, Zapata's and Yakatori restaurants, "Cibos'known for its coffee, free wifi internet and high fliers!
