Our house was purpose built in 1901 as a maternity hospital. It has wide verandahs all around, which are accessed from all three bedrooms. There is a separate lounge room for guests to use. We are situated in an historic village in a beautiful valley, two hours drive north of Sydney. We are one hours drive from beaches, nearby you can horse ride, bush walk, cycle, paddle, antique shop, wine taste, buy crafts. The local town has all facilities, a country club, pub, chemist, newsagency, baker, cafe etc. All bedrooms are very comfortable with heating and cooling. The bathroom is a shared facility between the three rooms. Mid week it is highly likely you would have that section of the house to yourself. We live on-site. We have a small dog, a cat and 5 hens. We harvest our own honey from backyard bees.

The NeighborhoodSituated in the heart of the village next door to historic Stroud House, you’ll be a stroll from shops, the local hotel, and cafes. You’ll be able to browse through antique and craft stores and explore the many heritage buildings this National Trust classified town has to offer. On hot days, the free local swimming pool is only 100 metres away. Stroud is a small National Trust classified country village two hours north of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The township can trace its beginning back to the late 1820s when it became the headquarters for a public funded company known as the Australian Agricultural Company (A. A. Company). Stroud was a self-contained village by 1832 and, as early as 1836, the Company's storehouses and much of the convict labour force were located there. Many fine buildings were constructed at Stroud. Some of these are still in use today: Stroud House (1827–32); St John's Church (1833) and Quambi School House (late 1830s). Also worthy of mention are the underground grain silos, built by the A. A. Company for the storage of grain. Getting AroundThe best and quickest way to get to Stroud is by car but you can catch a train from Central Station in Sydney to Broadmeadow in Newcastle and then catch the connecting bus to Stroud. Other Things to NoteThe bathroom is located off the rear verandah, only a few steps undercover from the back door, which is the main entrance to the house. It has been recently been freshly painted and includes a washing machine. A heater sits on the one of the shelves so you can keep warm while you dry off. I supply wood and kindling so you can use the open fireplace but the house also includes reverse cycle air conditioning and the bed boasts an electric blanket in winter. The adjoining paddock is home to Schooner, my beautiful friendly horse. He enjoys a healthy treat but, unlike the two bicycles in the carport, is not for riding. Unless you have experience with horses, please stay out of the paddock - he'll happily come to the fence to greet you.
