The SpaceWelcome to the Crescent Moon Cottage! Let me show you what southern hospitality is all about. Most reviewers note that staying with me is like visiting a friend. That is the best compliment I can receive and hope you will feel the same too. I am located in the West Ashley area of Charleston near Charlestowne Landing State Park. Easy to get to from the airport or I-26. Quick drive to downtown and near West Ashley plantations. Enjoy the blue bedroom with comfy beds, cable TV, and wifi. Great space for two friends - girls weekend, road trip, concerts, events, visiting colleges, or just to get away! Hall bathroom with shower is your private bath during your stay. I do have two sweet and friendly dogs, Mia and Loretta Lynn. Friendly, well-behaved, calm, house-trained dogs will be considered (please ask in advance, a pet security deposit will be charged). The room is for two people maximum (including children). The bedroom and bathroom are stocked with items you might need during your stay - shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion, razors, hair dryer, toothpaste, floss, medicines, ear plugs - to name a few. And I save all of the magazine articles I can find on Charleston for your benefit! I do not officially provide breakfast but provide coffee/tea and snacks. If I have anything handy for breakfast available I will be happy to offer you that too. I also usually have wine and beer available - let me know if you'd like a glass! The NeighborhoodOlder, quiet neighborhood near Charlestowne Landing State Park. Downtown is about a 10 minute drive away. Folly Beach is about 20 minutes away. Close access to I-26, I-526, 17, and 61. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby. Getting AroundPlenty of space to park in the driveway or front yard (who cares about grass?). From the airport take I-26 West to Route 7, then veer to the left onto Route 171. To get to downtown take Route 171 to 61 to 17 over the West Ashley bridge and you are downtown! Other Things to NoteI do not officially provide breakfast but do have coffee/tea and snacks available. While check-in is flexible, I would prefer you arrive before 10pm as I like to greet the guests. If you will be arriving after 10pm due to flight times or other travel plans, please inform me before booking. Checkout is 11am. If you need to check out later, please let me know in advance. Late checkout can be arranged if other guests are not arriving the same day. The room is for two people max (including children). As I work from home and have two dogs, I am usually up at 7am. The SpaceOur house is a fabulous anomaly in this part of the (URL HIDDEN) easy-living, family friendly one story modern dwelling built in 1961. We have an easy floor-plan with beautifully updated chef's kitchen (you will want for nothing there), 3 br (1 king w/ tempurpedic, 1 full/queen, 1 bunk room w/ 4 twin beds). We have designed the space with loads of original artwork, great fabrics, vintage treasures and comfortable furnishings. Our bathrooms have not been updated since 1981 (that's next on our list!) but get the job done readily. We have a small pool in a screened in enclosure - perfect for cooling off in our HOT summers. The back garden is fenced in and includes a great playhouse built to hold kids of all ages. Watch the sunset over the Ashley River from the kitchen or pool. We are really 10 quick minutes to downtown or 20 minutes to Folly Beach or Sullivan's Island. Also, just a quick 15 minute drive to such historic treasures as Magnolia Plantation, Drayton Hall, and Middleton Place. This is your perfect launching off point.. Guest AccessWe have a pool for you to enjoy (we kindly ask that you sign a waiver for this). Please note, there is no cable tv here. We do have a large flatscreen tv in the den which can play dvds (we have 100s) on a big flatscreen in the den. You will also have access to wireless internet for use on your own portable devices. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood is your typical 1960s neighborhood. Our property backs up to a salt marsh and faces the Ashley River. Lots of wildlife in the neighborhood. Everyone waves and pretty much minds their own business. Getting AroundUnfortunately, the south is very weak in public transportation. You will need a car to stay here.

The SpaceLocated minutes to everything Charleston has to offer. Relax between adventures in an incredibly comfortable environment. Recharge before your night out and sleep in to your hearts content! We are five minutes to Daniel Island, Blackbaud Stadium, Family Circle tennis, I-526, Mt. Pleasant, Park Circle, Hanahan, Boeing, and 10-15 minutes to Sullivans Island beach. Downtown historic Charleston is 15-20 minutes ride. Quiet neighborhood with private patio out back overlooking HOA wooded area. There is a pool in the neighborhood that you can enjoy if you just want to stick close. NOTE: the home does not have a bedroom/full bath or sleeping quarters on the main level though There is a half bath downstairs. All bedrooms are up a flight of stairs so We do not consider it handicap accessible. Multiple flat screen tv's throughout and double living areas for guests who want to watch something different. Play station in the den and games. Roomy and comfortable for your stay. The upstairs master suite features a king size comfortable bed, vaulted ceilings, ceiling fan, 42" flat screen tv, Tub/Shower combo and walk in closet. The Beach room has a full size bed and a tv as well. The flower room has a comfortable queen bed and is adjacent to the second bathroom. The linen closet is stock with most anything you'd need or may have forgotten at home. There is a small twin folding bed in the master closet and a pack and play if any small children are in your party. There are beach chairs in the garage and some toys available in Sullivan's island beach is 13 miles. Daniels island is 5 minutes where there is a publix for groceries and restaurants. The home has 3 Full Bedrooms and 2.5 baths. However much is needed or requested. Guest AccessThere is only a locked owners closet downstairs, otherwise you are welcome to the entire home. There is a trash can and recycling in the garage, Please put your trash in there. Trash comes Friday am so please take trash to the street on Thursday evening and take the can back in that night if you are staying during that period of time! Shaded backyard; relaxing. Very close to I-526 which can take you anywhere in Charleston area in minutes. Park circle area has great parks and restaurants. Less than 10 minutes from there Tanger outlets ten minutes drive or less. Getting AroundParking is included and guest parking across the street. Park only in spots marked "guest" 1 car garage. Airport is about 10 minutes away. Other Things to NoteLocated about 15 minutes to downtown Charleston, 10 minutes to the airport; 10 minutes to Mt. Pleasant, Sullivans Island. about 1.5 miles to I-526. 5 minutes to Daniel Island and trendy Park Circle Tanger outlets just ten minutes drive.

The SpaceThis 1960 home typical of homes built for shipyard and naval base workers retains its original kitchen and some furnishing and has been meticulously upgraded for luxurious, languid stays. The queen bedroom has a leather button-tufted headboard; the full bedroom suite and dining room suite were original to the home. Colorful, comfortable Paulin "Slice" Chairs and club chairs, a library/office with drafting table desk and great views of the marsh from all sides and a dining room with suite original to house. The kitchen is complete with a microwave, Italian espresso machine, toaster oven, basic cookware, picnic ware. Old-fashioned webbed beach chairs hair dryer, heating pad, first aid kit, organic toiletries and made in USA bathrobes make your packing easier. High speed wireless internet and Netflix are provided. A full laundry with wooden ironing board and iron are here for your use. There is a monitored alarm system, and modern central heat and air conditioning. Outside there is a 10-seat picnic table and old fashioned oak swing, both overlooking the creek and small island. (The island is thought to be part of an ancient rice dyke). I love to hear the occasional, distant railroad whistle. The house is very quiet with little to no traffic. All furnishings are custom and unique, and many breakable so this is not a suitable house for young children and I appreciate guests who appreciate and will help care for this special 60-year old treasure. There is ample off-street parking and a covered carport. When entering with alarm on, please use the front door for ample time to enter and disarm. Guest AccessGuests rent the entire house with a maximum of four guests. Pricing is based on use of one BR with a maid service charge for the second bedroom. Little green lizards that sometimes inexplicably enter inside the glass kitchen door may visit you. Human neighbors are quiet with houses a small distance away so you can feel in a world apart. You will see fiddler crabs, snowy egrets, herons, an alligator (usually a block down at fishing pier, but sometimes comes to visit the creek out back), maybe pair of red-shouldered hawks, mallard duck and a great blue heron. The house library has local nature guides, as well as period literature and games. Interaction with GuestsAs there is no key to exchange late arrivals are fine, but if you arrive before 8 pm, we would like to greet you to show you the alarm, expresso machine, etc. and just say, "hi!". We are available by phone throughout your stay for any reason. A house guide is provided on site with instructions on appliances and WIFI, plus some interesting places nearby to visit. The neighborhood is quiet and no one has ever tried to break in since I have had the house and the locally-monitored alarm will get police or fire fighters there in about 5 minutes, if there is a problem. The NeighborhoodIn 2015 MatadorNetwork called North Charleston's Park Circle the "4th Coolest Town" in the US. This Old House magazine calls this neighborhood a "Best Old House Neighborhood" for its tree-lined streets and charming one-and two story bungalows and commercial downtown built from (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). In 1912 the North Charleston Corporation formed to develop 5,000 acres between Filbin and Noisette creeks and the Cooper River into an "urban environment that will draw together both agricultural and urban industrial activities". The Old Navy Yard National Register Historic District is a few blocks away and now features an eclectic mix of non-profits, startups, shops, specialty manufacturers and you-never-now-what-else. You can also just lull away stress by staying at home and listening to the distant train whistle, the wind in the trees, big bird, little bird or your quietude as you rock in the swing with a good book or magazine surveying the marsh. A short, pleasant 3-4 block walk takes you to artisanal bakery and pizzeria, two gastro pubs, a classic original "meant and three", a fine Italian trattoria, Thai, BBQ, and coffee shops, a friendly Irish pub, a wine bar, a beloved yoga studio, gift shop, a 24-hour gym and a skilled hair salon. A little further walk takes you to the Tuesday Farmer's Market and bi-monthly Friday live Irish music folk dance, the Hunley Submarine Museum, the Old Navy Yard, and the Danny Jones Swim Center in Park Circle. The North Charleston Performing Arts Center and Coliseum, Tanger Outlets and Charleston International Airport are 10 minutes' drive away. Mt Pleasant, Sullivans Island, and IOP beaches are 14-25 minutes drive away. The Charleston Peninsula is as close as 10 minutes away. Your stay helps preserve this coastal wildlife habitat and the memory of a simpler time. Getting AroundYou will need a car to see the larger area and beach or golf, though we can recommend a good, professional taxi. The house is directly off I-526 and the Virginia Avenue exit. This exit comes up quickly, so keep eyes peeled or you will be on the bridge headed into Old Mount Pleasant, a good place to shop as Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Harris Teeter are all right at the base of the Bridge, with the Old Village, and Sullivans's Island farther down - all worth visiting in their own right. You may also drive straight downtown to Charleston via Meeting Street which turns into Spruill Avenue (where The Junction cafe with limited local staples such as eggs and seasonal veggies, and Sesame Grill, one of Park Circle's first "new wave" eateries to open are located.) Don't forget the duck pond, accessed by walking down Buist Avenue, under the railroad bridge. I've worked out a deal with Bs Bikes to deliver cruisers to the house at just $50 per bike, for up to 6 days use, which is the best way to explore the vast Nay Yard waterfront and more. Public transit is sadly, poor in Charleston, (though we keep rallying for better.) Other Things to NoteThe whole house is yours alone. If you need the second BR there is a fee to cover additional laundering and linen replacement costs. So, two people in one bed are the listed price. Two people in two beds pay the same as four people in two beds.

The SpaceGuest Bedroom #1 is a cozy bedroom with a comfortable queen-sized bed. Just off of the bedroom, is the Guest Bathroom. Guest AccessThe Guest Bathroom is located in the hallway, two doors down from the bedroom. Both guest rooms have access to the Guest Bathroom when occupied. Guests are welcome to hang out in the Living Room or use the Kitchen if they want to cook any meals or a snack. I usually have fresh fruit around and there is a coffee maker to use as well. I have an assortment of teas and a kettle for non-coffee drinkers! There are usually bottled waters in the refrigerator, juice, milk, and other breakfast items like yogurt, bagels and cream cheese, cereal and breakfast bars also available. Interaction with GuestsI tend to work a lot during the day, but when I am home I am always up for hanging out and chatting about various topics, such as traveling and life abroad as well as films, music, and sports or anything that happens to come up. I am also understanding to wanting private space, so if the guest would just like to have some alone time, that works as well. The NeighborhoodI live in a mostly quiet, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Sometimes there is some noise from vehicles driving by at night because my road is a popular road to get in and out of the neighborhood, however the guest rooms are on the back side of the house. My house was built in 1965. The homes are farther apart than most modern neighborhoods, which I prefer! My neighbors right next door are an older, retired couple. They are friendly and very quiet. Getting AroundDowntown Charleston is 16 - 20 minutes (9.5 mi) by car. There is a bus stop a few blocks away from my house. The number 11 and 12 line will take you downtown. I can provide a bus schedule is desired. If you have a vehicle, you may park in my driveway or the side yard, next to the driveway. If you are coming from the airport or bus station in the evening, check with me and if I'm not working, I may be able to pick you up. The SpaceThe nicely appointed private room sleeps 2 people and has it's own bath with double sinks. There's a futon in the next room if needed. I also have a big FROG with air mattresses for more guests. Guest AccessThe parlor is available to relax and just read a book. Guests can also enjoy the family room with a flat screen TV and cable. There's a fireplace for those chilly winter nights. The dock is a beautiful peaceful setting to enjoy a glass of wine or your morning coffee. Interaction with GuestsThere will be a gourmet breakfast for your enjoyment. Host is gluten free and will cater to special diets. I love to cook and I've been told I'm pretty good. I also offer guided tours of Charleston or will send guests off with suggestions and maps. The NeighborhoodHome is located in an established neighborhood in West Ashley. There is a public golf course 2 min. away or you could play at Kiawah at the famous Ocean Course. Kiawah is about a half hour away. Drayton Hall, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens and Middleton Plantation are around the corner, 5 min. There's a tea plantation and winery and distillery about a 20 min. drive from the house. Or you can drive to downtown Charleston in about 20 min. Other Things to NoteThere is a friendly kitty who will hide till he fells comfortable with you. A washer and dryer are available for laundry. There is also Wi-Fi and a computer for checking e-mail.
