The SpaceOne large, 2-story room with two double beds: a bed on the main floor with a plush new mattress, and a comfy futon on the sleeping loft. There's a well-equipped kitchen perfect for making romantic dinners, with a brand-new fridge and commercial range (both spring 2016). There are both electric and drip coffee set-ups, and a toaster. No microwave. A large dining table (made by a local furniture building from local wood) for the amazing dinners you'll make, or to spread out your work and find inspiration. The center of the space holds a comfy "living room" area (with a new couch as of Spring 2016) to hang out in. The cozy bedroom corner on the main floor (privacy curtains coming), and the futon on the sleeping loft make for dreamy night sleeps, both have fans and windows to stay cool in the summer. The full bath has a claw-foot tub. There is a radio & CD player, and iPod/Phone hook-up, wireless internet, and a land line.
As you can see from the reviews, it's a very special place, intimate in size but expansive in feel, because of the cathedral ceiling and wall of windows with a view onto the meadow, creek, and sunset. It's a beautiful artistic/rustic interior, quirky, with a high level of comfort, many lovely rugs, and a lot of art. Perfect for an active vacation, a romantic get-away, or a creative, spiritual, or rejuvenating retreat. Guest AccessThe surrounding 22 acres of land are gorgeous in all seasons. There's great snowshoeing and cross-country skiing right outside. In the warm season, hang out in the outdoor living room nestled in a White Pine woods right outside the back door or swim in the creek that borders the woods. Walk .03 mile along the road pictured above and play in the waterfall or sun on the rocks near the covered bridge. A few miles away are Lake Champlain, hiking trails, and swimming holes. Explore Burlington, Middlebury, Vergennes, and Shelburne, and try their great restaurants, museums, and shopping, all within a half hour's drive. And don't miss the famous flatbread pizza served one night a week in winter and two in summer at Pizza on Earth, on a lovely farm 5 miles away, with a stop on the way to pick up beer or the perfect bottle of wine at Spear's country store. There's lots to see and do, but you might want to snuggle in and stay put. Interaction with GuestsI am always available by text or cell. I am generally not on site when the cabin is rented, but I respond quickly to any questions during the visit. I enjoy communicating with guests! The NeighborhoodGreat natural beauty with an intimate scale. Covered bridges, rolling hills, swimming holes, x-country ski trails, fresh eggs for sale across the road. A vibrant creek (actually a small river) borders the land with easy access for wading, swimming, and fishing. The neighborhood (accessible by car) also has cafés, restaurants, bakeries, markets, hardware, yoga . . . pretty much anything you'll need. Getting AroundYou'll need your own vehicle, it's in the country without public transportation. Other Things to NoteYou'll also find books, CDs, Scrabble, Backgammon, and puzzles. And a lot of information on local attractions.
