At one corner is a 2300 acre preserve in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Take a leisurely walk among the wild flower gardens, swing under a giant oak or simply sit on the hill and enjoy magnificent panoramic mountain views. The SpaceVERY BASIC SPACE located 9 minutes from UVA but surrounded by several thousand open acres, The Historic Crossroads Tavern Inn is at Pippin Hill Farm and Vineyard, next to Loving Cup Vineyard and Albemarle Ciderworks in a tavern built by Thomas Jefferson's nephew. In addition to the tavern there is a 1785 Church, Schoolhouse and Summer Kitchen on the property. The entire property is a National Historic Site and a Virginia Landmark. This is a small suite of three rooms that were used as the owner's quarters by previous owners and has a maximum occupancy of two adults and children are not allowed by code. However the space is spartan and is intended for use as an inexpensive base camp for weekly guests not as a place for a romantic getaway like the normal bed and breakfast rooms. Interaction with GuestsThere is someone on site 24/7/365 The NeighborhoodYou have a refrigerator and a microwave. There is also Giddy's Asian Fusion next door to Dr. Ho's and it is just as good and locally sourced too. There is a laundromat, a bank and a convenience store within 500 feet of the space also. Any season is ideal at this elegant country home. Christened “Rosneath” in 1947, this lovely farm rests in 120 acres of meadow and woodland within 30 miles of Wintergreen Ski Resort, 18 minutes from UVA and Monticello, 20 minutes from the foot of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and a few miles from the historic, enchanting village of Batesville. It’s minutes from the Pippin Hill winery and within a half hour to the Trump Vineyards. With all that nearby, guests often still say they prefer to remain on the property. For a video tour, copy and paste this link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpziAVMBcxY - to your browser. It’s an ideal place to entertain family, friends or business associates and share food and conversation. Breathe pure mountain air, drink clear fresh water from the land’s private spring and enjoy dazzling sunsets and a star filled night sky. The kitchen is newly remodeled and fully equipped. There is a dining room, media room/parlor and living room. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a private bathroom and an adjacent office that can be used as a bedroom or nursery. Down the hall there are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and the other with two twin beds. There is a full bathroom between them at the end of the hall. Many of the desks, tables, chairs and beds are heirlooms, made by master craftsmen for the ages and selected for beauty and comfort. Entertainment basics are all on board-Internet, Satellite TV and two large flat screens - Blu-ray players for each. Virginia Sales and Albemarle TOT are included in basic rate. At discretion of the owners, additional charges may apply for special events, gatherings exceeding 15 persons. Everything you need for a comfortable stay, with modern amenities in an otherwise classic country home. Steeped in Jefferson-era history, the property is located on a beautiful winding country road and is situated on a post-card like piece of land - rolling hills and old oak forests. The simple beauty of the surrounding area invites pure contemplation; but if you like running, biking, or hiking, you can do all of them easily from the house. The property is great for kids to play, explore, and experience country living. The decks and views are great for reading, relaxing, and conversing. The location seems isolated but is actually an easy drive to Charlottesville, Crozet, and is five minutes from a very good restaurant (Dr. Ho's Humble Pie) and a market where you can pick up necessities. Spectacular wine tasting and wedding venues are within minutes of Rosneath. Local grapes swept the competition at the 2012 Governor’s Cup Award in Richmond, All but one of the top scoring wines selected for inclusion in the 2012 Virginia Governor’s Case were produced from grapes grown in the Monticello AVA (American Viticultural Area). The University of Virginia and Monticello, both UNESCO Cultural Heritage Sites, beckon both the serious academic and the interested tourist. Alumni, faculty and their families have enjoyed viewing the bustle of University life from the vantage of this elegant country retreat.

We want to be conscious of your vacation time, and don't expect to be a regular presence. The large outdoor area does require significant upkeep, and I'll often be cutting grass or maintaining trails, but will always keep you apprised before stopping by! The SpaceWe have a modern farmhouse tucked down a dirt driveway overlooking historic estates. Guests will enjoy our clean and well-designed interior and (hopefully) our myriad of well-behaved pets. There are two horses, two dogs, two cats and one guinea hen on the property. It is a great getaway for families with children. We have two-year old twins, so it is a busy place, but with a playroom, hammocks, porches, and places to roam, it is a wonderful spot to unwind. Guest AccessTwo pretty bedrooms and one private bath are available. Rent one or both rooms. There is a third bedroom available, but it only has a blow up mattress. If you need the extra space and want that room, just shoot me an email. We also have two Pack n' Plays and two high chairs, if needed. Interaction with GuestsI work from an office on the home's third floor, so I am around to answer questions but out of the way during the day. I'll make coffee for you in the morning and am happy to point you to area highlights. The NeighborhoodWe love the beauty, quiet, wildlife and history of our area. There are also wonderful places to take walks, vineyards within a stone's throw, Monticello, Ash Lawn, UVa, and loads of other things to do. We are within 8 miles of Pippin Hill Vineyard, Michael Shapps, Trump Winery, and Blenheim Vineyard. Getting AroundYou do need a car. This is country livin'. Sorry, folks. Our driveway is a little rough, because it's down a rutted dirt road. I can do it in my little Honda, though, so you should be fine. Don't rely on GPS. Ask me for directions. There's not much cell service down here. Other Things to NotePeople who have pet allergies will not be happy here...though I do vacuum obsessively.

Woodhaven Farm is a working farm producing 100% grass-fed beef. Surrounded by rolling meadows and woodlands, the farm is quiet and wonderfully isolated yet close to many of the attractions that make Virginia a desirable place to visit. Stay on the farm and enjoy hiking, canoeing/kayaking on the James River; use the farm as base to explore historic Scottsville, University of Virginia, the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia wine country or delve into America's history at Revolutionary and Civil War battle sites. The homes of three early American presidents, Jefferson, Monroe and Madison, are within an easy hour's drive.

Since the days of Thomas Jefferson the Dabney Carr house at Rosneath has offered Virginians and their guests just about the perfect place to greet the four seasons. Today, a newly remodeled kitchen and the latest entertainment gear enhance the experience. Rosneath is a great place to stay indoors with friends and family on a crisp winter night, walk in the meadows on a cool spring morning, sip a drink on the porch as the summer sun sets, or take in the hardwood trees’ fall fashion show. The house rests in 120 acres of meadow and woodland, less than 25 miles from the Wintergreen Resort, 18 minutes from UVA and Monticello, 20 minutes from the foot of the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive and a few miles from the historic, enchanting village of Batesville. It’s minutes from the Pippin Hill winery and within a half hour to the Trump Vineyards. With all that nearby, guests often say they would prefer to remain on the property and breathe pure mountain air, drink clear fresh water from the land’s private spring and enjoy dazzling sunsets and a star filled night sky.

Escape the city or suburbia to the robust frontier setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville. This log cabin is the perfect cure for cabin fever. Enjoy a week or weekend with family and friends in this authentic restored 1880's double log cabin. Popular for getaway weekends for winery tours (centrally located to area wineries), family reunions, special birthdays, wedding groups/family, guys or gals weekends away, Charlottesville historic sites, UVA reunions, UVA game weekends, Foxfield horse races, Monticello tours, college sports and tour weekends, Frontier Culture Museum, and much more. Immerse yourself in the ambiance of yesteryear on 400 mountainside forested acres. Hand hewn logs, reclaimed wood floors, restored antique stoves, furniture, and claw-foot tubs, - all contribute to the historic atmosphere, while folding glass walls, spacious rooms, central heating and air conditioning, and modern appliances provide the comfort and ease of modern day life. The Great room features a wood burning stone fireplace, TV / blue Ray DVD with satellite, folding glass doors at both ends so your entertaining can spill out onto the front porch or the back yard. A large comfy sectional sofa has been added (not shown in photos). A long front porch is ample for dining and perfect for swinging on the antique porch swing and relaxing in rocking chairs. The kitchen has modern appliances, and an antique refrigerator (and an antique wood cook stove for the adventurous sort though best used for ambiance on a chilly morning while bonding over your morning coffee). The kitchen is arranged as the early kitchens were, with the table in the middle of the room. An outdoor fire pit provides hours of entertainment for young and not-so-young alike. This house is made up of two log cabins, one moved up from a lower location on the same mountain, and another moved in from another property, joined together by a great room. There are four bedrooms plus a bunk room, three full baths plus another with sink and tub only. Sleeping arrangements: Hand made period quilts cover all beds. The arrangement is perfect for two families to occupy with semi-privacy. Bedroom 1 (main floor) - 1 queen & 1 double bed with a working antique wood stove for ambiance Bedroom 2 (main floor) - 1 full & 1 twin bed (direct access to bath) Bedroom 3 (second floor) - 1 queen & 1 double bed with a working antique wood stove for ambiance Bunk area (second floor near bedroom three) - 3 twin beds. Kids love this room with its unusual doorway Bedroom 4 / loft (second floor over kitchen with its own stairway) - 2 double beds and a narrow couch. This is a large room with a private stair. There is no door, but it feels quite private. (This is my favorite room.) and there is an adjoining sink and tub (no toilet). Air mattresses would fit it this room for extra people. Bathrooms furnished with restored cast-iron sinks and claw-foot tub showers, and modern water-saving toilets. Bathrooms 1 & 2 - main floor Bathroom 3 - second floor Bathroom 4 - second floor with sink and tub only The joined cabins are both 100+ years old, restored in 2009. Note that cell phone reception is sometimes sketchy. Verizon nearly always has a signal, especially in the kitchen and porch area, and often all over the house. We suggest you grocery shop before arrival as the nearest full grocery is 25 minutes away. Kroger in Charlottesville at the intersection of Rt 29 and Rt 250 is the closest full grocery. Come glimpse the best of life of our early settlers!
