The SpaceOne thing unique about this house is unlike many historic properties, our guest room is big with tall ceilings and large windows. Even the guest bath is pretty big. Guest AccessIn addition to guestroom and attached private bathroom, you are welcome to the parlor, living room, front sitting porch and large back yard. The kitchen is kind of ours, but we will leave a fresh thermos of coffee outside your door at 7:30am. Plus Cynthia leaves a dish of fresh-baked chewy chocolate-gingerbread cookies in your room. Outside there is a park just steps away with basketball courts, 2 tennis courts and running path. Nice places to walk all around - including historic village and a rather hidden grassy conservation area. Interaction with GuestsWe work out of the house, so we are here if you need us. As far as interaction, that is up to you: you want privacy? We'll stay away. You want to get to know us? Great. The NeighborhoodWickford is one of those classic small historic New England towns. Walk to 2 places for breakfast, 1 for drinks and dinner. A dozen or so small one-of-a-kind shops. No chain stores. No crowds... (except the art weekend. That is always busy!) Getting AroundNo public transportation to speak of. But we are an easy drive to TF Green airport, both train stations (T to Boston and Amtrak.) Other Things to NoteOne of our 10 guests requested disposable ear plugs for road noise. The guestroom is facing the road into town, and you will hear a little morning traffic. Most people are completely fine with this, but if you are a light sleeper, or you're used to complete quiet, you might prefer a quieter location. Also: If you want, you are free to borrow our two mountain bikes.

The SpaceThis beach house is newly renovated, and it's a little over half a mile to walk to the neighborhood Beach, where you could also park your car for free for beach access. There are 2 parking spots at the house. There are two bedrooms, the Master is extremely large with a loft above it. The Loft could fit at least three children for sleeping, probably more or 3 adults. The loft is carpeted, is accessible by a very sturdy ladder and has multiple electrical outlets and has a guardrail and a locked gate. I have two foam mattresses on the floor in the Loft, they are amazingly comfortable! Master bedroom has a propane fireplace with fire crystals. Second bedroom has the queen bed in it and I also have a new rollaway bed with foam mattress that can be used in there and it would also make a great spot for a couple of sleeping bags on the new carpet. Everything is new in the home, furniture, carpets, ect. Living room is spacious with a large sectional sofa and a plaid chair. Dining room table seats 6, and there is room at the bar as well in the kitchen. I am still waiting for my bar stools to arrive but I have plenty of seating. Granite countertops, stainless steel Hood over stove, top-of-the-line appliances. Stackable washer dryer are hidden in a little closet right off the bedroom. Huge flat screen TV in living room, I have wifi and netflix but no cable (no worries, you're here for the beach!) Remote control luminaria candles are throughout. Twinkle lights on the exposed beams above in the Great Room provide a romantic feel. The deck has new all-weather furniture and a fire pit also with fire crystals. Absolutely beautiful! A corner lot. There's an outdoor shower in the backyard and the yard for the kids to play in comfortably. It's truly a magical house! Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire home with the exception of the storage shed on the property. Interaction with GuestsI will be in the area and always accessible by cell phone during the listing. Please feel free to email me with any questions. I will be picking up mail from the house occasionally, but no need to go inside. The NeighborhoodI love everything about this neighborhood! Beautiful little Beach community in walking distance of mini mart, restaurant, historic seaside village of Wickford (with shops and restaurants) (URL HIDDEN) Quiet neighborhood, private beach in walking distance. Idyllic spot for beach vacation. Walk to Waldron Ave and walk down the street until you cross a small bridge over an inlet, not there yet, keep going!! There is a cute little beach! It shows in the 6th picture of my listing. Seaview Station is a little restaurant within walking distance (.25 miles) that has a little train running around the top of the room and the best sweet potato pancakes with homemade Maple butter that you will ever taste! Very close to URI (9.9 miles) so if you are bringing your student to College it's a great place to stay. Fall in this area is gorgeous and charming! Wickford village has activities all throughout October including an outdoor scarecrow contest with all the Wickford shops trying to outdo one another with amazing scarecrow creations, so fun to just stroll around to vote on your favorite! I go every year with friends. Also, there is a tent sale, scavenger hunt and pumpkin painting, and the annual "parade of horribles" on October 25th for pets and animals dressed in costume. On October 30th and 31st the local Village Shops hand out candy to trick or treating children. It's a magical time to visit! Getting AroundYou basically need a car to get to Newport, Boston or other cities in the area. You can walk to the neighborhood restaurant, the mini-mart and the neighborhood Beach, as well as walk to the historic town of Wickford 1 mile away. Other Things to NoteCheck in is at 3:00pm, check out is at 11:00 am, I will try to accommodate you if those times are an issue. I require the full names of all guests so please provide those. 6 guests maximum.

Experience historic Wickford Village in the Yellow Ell, a lovingly maintained 1700's wing of the 1806 Westgate Watson house. Relax on the brick terrace and let the ripple of the tidal waterfall transport you back to a simpler time. A weeping willow frames your view of Wickford Village across Academy Cove. A garden walkway leads you into the sunny living room with centuries-old wide plank floors, original woodwork and windows overlooking the water. The updated but period appropriate kitchen has a water view and wide plank floors. A winding New England staircase leads to the large, cozy bedroom with adjoining bath. The coastal breeze and the bird's eye view of the cove are unforgettable. The Yellow Ell and Westgate Watson House: Reflected across the water of Academy Cove, the 1806 Westgate Watson House is one of the most painted and photographed scenes in Wickford Village. The Yellow Ell predates the main house and was once separate, a classic colonial “one-room” house from the mid 1700's. At some point, the ell was attached to the main house, since a true Yankee would never let a good house go to waste. Modern conveniences (such as indoor plumbing!) were accommodated to the existing floor plan with minimal changes. While care has been taken to preserve the historic integrity of the house, the ell combines the best of the old and new without compromising comfort. The rooms are sunny and airy with windows on both sides, giving wonderful views and letting in the cool coastal breeze. To ensure that your visit is special, we try to accommodate individual requests. The apartment kitchen comes with complimentary coffee and tea and staple condiments. The refrigerator has cream (or soy creamer if preferred) plus locally-sourced refreshments. We strive to give guests a true get-away and a chance to experience what is unique to the area. Other details: The Ell is an attached unit (please see listing # 227881) to the main house and has some shared common areas in the yard. The terrace is reserved for the Ell since it adjoins that unit.

Historic Waterside Location in Wickford Village. The 1806 Westgate Watson House, reflected across the water of Academy Cover, is one of the most painted and photographed scenes in Wickford and the region for its picturesque setting and serene New England charm. Just a short block from the Village main street, but at the end of a side street, you’ll feel as if you’re in a magical place, a tranquil oasis but still right in the center of everything. Relax in a peaceful sitting area in the yard and let the ripple of the tidal waterfall transport you back to a simpler time. A weeping willow frames your view of the Village across Academy Cove. 1806 Westgate Watson House: This is a first floor apartment in an historic house. It can be rented as a one or two bedroom space with options of a queen bed in one room and twin beds in the other. The house has an interesting history both for its role in the village and also architecturally for old-house buffs. It started as an 1806 Federal colonial but was 'modernized' in the mid 1800's with a Greek Revival facelift and later expanded when they attached a 1750's ell. Modern conveniences (such as indoor plumbing!) were accommodated to the existing floor plan with minimal changes. While care has been taken to preserve the historic integrity of the house, the living spaces were totally refreshed in the summer of 2011 with a completely new kitchen and updated bathroom. The space combines the best of the old and new without compromising comfort. The rooms are sunny and airy with numerous windows, giving wonderful views and letting in the cool coastal breeze. This is an apartment within a larger house. Outside, in the yard, there are both shared common areas and also more private areas. See listing # 227850.
