We don't have sidewalks and do have a minimal speed limit and plenty of stop signs, so a walk through our streets or medians is never a problem. The SpaceThe private room has luxurious queen bed and its own attached (ensuite) bathroom. The room overlooks the garden in the front of the house as well as the brick tree lined walkway on the side of the house. Heavy curtains keep the sun and the heat out. Simply move the curtains back to flood the room with sunlight and warmth. The Golden Glades/Biscayne Park/North Miami area is a quiet, sunny, cozy, family friendly neighborhood within 15 minutes to all the activities that Miami and Fort Lauderdale has to offer. Save money on crazy hotel bills, and spend it on shopping and enjoying the city, while staying at a very welcoming, relaxing and very affordable space. The house is a 1880s art deco property located 2.5 miles from Bal Harbor Beach, one of the most exclusive beaches and shopping areas in Miami. The house is centrally located to everything you would love to do in Miami. Biscayne Boulevard with Whole Foods, LA Fitness and Panera Bread is 5 minute drive. South Beach with its infamous night life is 15 minutes away. Fort Lauderdale is 20 minutes. There is tons of shopping both affordable and expensive in Aventura Mall (15 minute) drive. The antique district is 5 minutes. The neighborhood is the newest antique furniture district in Miami. To make things more convenient in terms of getting around, in Biscayne Park/North Miami a rental car would be a good idea but there is bus running up and down Collins avenue reaching South Beach within minutes or up to Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach within 20 to 40 minutes. You have full access to house, the pool, the back yard, the river, and the BBQ area. There is plenty of parking in the semi-circular driveway. As a decadent treat, a next door neighbor is a licensed masseur who works at the Four Seasons Hotel. He has agreed to give my guests a pool side massage massage at the house at very reduced rate. This is a wonderful experience. I encourage you to enjoy the decadent experience. The art deco house is all yours. A friend will give you access to the house and will pick up the keys before your departure. Please feel free to call or email me any time, and I will have a friend or neighbor help you as soon as possible. Biscayne Park/North Miami area is a beautiful family oriented neighborhood that has one of the best modern museums, and newest furniture art districts in Miami. It also has a Caribbean meet art deco flair to it. There is community park up the block with a community center which host tons of activities. Most guest are interested in enjoying the activities in the surrounding neighborhoods like South Beach which is a 15 minutes drive. In South Beach one can walk along Collins Avenue, Ocean Drive and Washington Avenue. There is even Lincoln Road, a street designed to walk, which has been converted into an outdoor mall. It is home to many restaurants, several night clubs, stores and movie theaters within its ten block span. There is public transportation at the corner. There is also a free shuttle bus that will take you to major shopping areas right up the block across the street from the community park. Taxis abound in South Beach (which is generally defied as the entire part of Miami Beach located below Dade Blvd. and 23rd Street), but a fun and much cheaper way to see it all is to ride the South Beach Local bus service. With stops every few blocks (look for the colorful “Local" signs on the sidewalk along the route), and service running every 10 to 15 minutes throughout each day, the South Beach Local makes getting around South Beach a breeze. Geared mainly toward visitors, the Local's buses are newer, air-conditioned, clean and safe. The friendly drivers are quite helpful and seem to be very willing to assist riders in finding the stop closest to their destination or to offer other travel related information. The South Beach or as the locals call it SOBE travels along a circuit beginning and terminating at the “new" Publix located at 20th Street and West Ave. View the detailed route map at (website hidden) The circuit runs as follows: south along West Ave. continuing south onto Alton Rd. at 6th Street until South Pointe Drive (at the southernmost tip of the peninsula) then turning north on Washington Ave until 17th Street where the bus makes its way back toward the “new" Publix via Meridian Ave. and Dade Blvd. Buses run simultaneously in each direction and do occasionally get bogged down in Washington St. traffic. Do not be surprised if you see two buses traveling southbound in the time it takes for one bus, traveling north, to show up. Monday through Saturday service is available between 7:45 am and 1:00 am. Sunday service begins at 10:00 am and ceases at 1:00 am. The fare is $0.25, which is considerably less than regular Miami-Dade Metrobus service at $1.50. Metrobus service can also be used throughout all of Miami Beach, Miami and the rest of the County. More information about public transportation within Miami Beach or Miami-Dade County can be found at (website hidden). The best value for travelers staying a week or so is the Traveler Passport ($26) which is good for seven days and is available at the Clay Hotel on Espanola Way and other locations - it is supposed to be sold at the Miami Airport at Mercado miami but apparently they had run out and were not able to get more. If you plan ahead you can buy online and have the pass mailed to you. The buses, downtown light rail and the elevated train were excellent and frequent. There is a Night Owl bus that will bring you back to Miami Beach easily and you will feel very free with the Passport to go anywhere once you are ready for a change from the beach or pool.Coral Gables, Villa Vizcaya, Bayside Marketplace, Coconut Grove, Little Havana, Little Haiti, Little Nicaragua, etc. etc. - all easy with one transfer from South Beach. Nevertheless, guests have jumped in and after 30 seconds or so their body temperature adjusted and they have been having a blast in the pool. The temperature of the pool is the same as the temperature of the ocean depending on whether you visit in the winter, summer, fall or spring.- We have opened up the middle panels of the pool enclosure so you can enjoy the view of the Biscayne River while on the pool deck. It was too enclosed before. You cloud not see anything passed the screen. It is much more open now. We are in the process of growing gardenias and other exotic hanging plants throughout the pool screen enclosure to give the pool and the appearance of secret garden. It a wonderful spot for cocktail, to read, have a smoke or fall asleep. The pool deck is beautiful especially when the surrounding pool lights come and the jets turn on at dusk. The SpaceThis beautiful and elegant private cottage sits at the back of a large plot, in a quiet residential street in North Miami. Bal Harbour beaches are a short drive away, and the cottage is located within walking distance of boutiques and restaurants - as well as supermarkets and eateries. There is private access via a gated garden and a private patio where you can sit and relax and while away your time enjoying the warmth and year round sunshine - a completely detached, self-contained property.. With all home comforts - no exceptions. We leave you alone to enjoy your space and tranquility - but are always on hand if you need some help.. North Miami is the less noisy, slightly more refined older sister to South Beach.. It's pleasant tree lined roads and fashionable boulevards are a contrast to the fast and somewhat superficial touristic front of its Southern counterpart.. Come to North Miami for it's cultural feel and it's art museums.. The university district and the boutique and pavement cafe culture is what sets North Miami apart with an air of quality as opposed to quantity.. With wider, less crowded beaches, open parks and chic in abundance, North Miami has the elegance and charm of a much more real place. Local buses and taxis are on the doorstep, and walking around these streets is very safe and friendly. The cottage is fully independent and private, with TV, luxury shower room and fully equipped kitchen. There is the addition of a second mini-bedroom at the cottage.. It is a small but beautifully formed separate bedroom with Sofabed - suitable for a child or adult.. Additional charges apply. Guest AccessPrivate access via a gated garden and private patio - detached, self-contained property.. The plot is fairly large - there is a single family home situated at the front which is occupied by two very nice sisters.. They appreciate their privacy - and respect those who visit the apartment at the rear. Guests are asked to keep noise and disruption to a minimum - as this is a nice, peaceful neighbourhood - Access to the cottage itself, is via the main side gate - in the front part of the lot. Next to the main house. Guests can drive through the main gate and to the back where there is ample parking space, next to the cottage. There is a lockbox with a key to the front patio doors to the apartment - however, someone can be available to assist with check-in, but the procedure is straight forward and we like to leave guests to enjoy their privacy. Interaction with GuestsWe leave you alone - but are on hand if you need help.. With just a phone call or text - we can be there in no time to change sheets, clean or assist you in any way.
