When staying at this glamping property in Canada, glampers have the choice of different style yurts and the options are outlined below. The yurts are all of a Mongolian style and were built and painted by hand by Mongolian families. They are beautiful and interesting, and offer an incredible view of the property's brook-fed lake and the Atlantic Ocean beyond—a hot-spot for swimming moose and soaring eagles. The yurts feature one electrical outlet. Glampers can walk a few feet outside their yurt door and hop in a kayak, a canoe, or even onto a stand-up paddle board. They can also book their own private cedar soaking tub just another few feet away for an extra fee. Blue Mongolian Yurt: This yurt is 12 feet in diameter. It sleeps two guests and is the perfect romantic rental for couples. It features lovely, rustic furniture to fit in with the Mongolian theme and a skylight. The Red Mongolian Yurt: This is 19 feet in diameter and can accommodate up to four people, which makes it ideal for groups or families. It features a skylight, authentic Mongolian furniture, and for winter glampers, a source of heat to keep them cozy. The Cedar Yurt: This is a more modern yurt with a dome skylight and a fresh cedar scent. It is spacious and bright at 20 feet in diameter, with a double and twin bed, as well as a love seat opposite a cozy wood stove. There is also a cedar soaking tub right outside the door that can be used for an extra fee. Available year-round, glampers can also enjoy their own picnic table and fire pit. This yurt can accommodate up to four people. The Green Yurt: This is one of the oldest yurts on the property, meaning it has a very traditional feel. Secluded and private, this yurt is great for those seeking to be immersed in nature while still only being a couple minute walk from all the amenities offered. It has a double and a single bed, making it great for family vacations or nature retreat.

The SpaceNewly renovated turn of the century Farm House in the picturesque community of South Bar in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia… The Farm House was originally built in 1911 and sits on over 7 acres of land stretching down to its own beach on Sydney Harbor. This property was in the same family since the 1700's when this area was first settled. The home was renovated in 2012, including a large Chef’s Kitchen with new appliances and large island. Layout: Main floor - large dining room, living room, kitchen, bathroom and laundry room (with new laundry appliances). We have a flat screen TV in the living room and wireless high speed internet, we do not have Cable TV but have cables on site to hook up laptops and Ipads. There is also a DVD player. The kitchen really steals the show with its large island and all the things you need to create culinary magic! Second floor - four bedrooms and large bathroom with huge soaker tub overlooking Sydney Harbor. Almost every room provides views of Sydney Harbor. There is one queen bed, two double beds and one bunk bed (sleeps 8 comfortably). The basement and attic are currently undeveloped and locked off. This home is conveniently located within 10/15 minutes of almost everything including the Airport, the University, Downtown Sydney and the Mall. It sits on a beautiful stretch of road that runs along the ocean front from Sydney to New Waterford. Our neighbors are very friendly and have lived in the area their whole lives, great people to talk to about the history of the area. You can walk along the rocky beach when the tide is out to the lobster pound to pick up fresh lobster off the boats for dinner (during Lobster season). Or spend time picking raspberries and blueberries on the land. This home is perfect for young families with children, older families who want to unplug, couples on a romantic getaway, bikers, events such as birthdays or reunions and professionals on work contracts. Kids can safely play in the meadows or walk down to the beach, picking berries along the way. It is a perfect base camp to discover Cape Breton. Cape Breton is rich with history and culture and provides endless opportunities to explore historic sites, listen to local musicians, eat local food, shop at the local farmer's market, tour the coal mines in beautiful Glace Bay or tour the Cabot Trail, one of the most beautiful places on earth! The North Shore, originally settled by Scots in the early 1800s, is now home to lots of moose, a crab and lobster fishery (May - July), as well as many fine artisans and crafters. From the deck of the Sleeping Moose Cottage you might see whales and seals, for sure ocean birds, and 'our' Bald Eagle who does a 'fly-by' a couple of times a day. Walk to our pebble beach and enjoy the beautiful view and sometimes-loud silence of the waves hitting the pebbles. There are lots of hiking and snowshoeing trails in and outside the National Park, and if you like golf... Highland Links is a beautiful 25-minute drive away. The Sleeping Moose is a housekeeping cottage with a full kitchen, but it is conveniently located on the same property as the Dancing Moose Cafe. It serves unusual breakfasts and lunches bilt around Dutch Pannekoeken (stuffed pancakes), Belgian waffles, a daily soup, and baked treats, all made from scratch in our own kitchen. We are an all-season accommodation. Start your day watching the sun rise over the ocean. Then, spend a lazy summer's eve on your private deck watching the stars come out. Light a cosy fire in your wood stove on chilly evenings, or in winter when snow has changed the landscape. On rainy days, enjoy a free movie or a bit of surfing with our free wireless Internet.

Maggie's is an authentic Cape Breton farmhouse built at the turn of last century and restored so as to maintain its charm and character but include modern conveniences and appliances. Many of the original furnishings and antiques from its past remain in the house. This part of Cape Breton was settled by Scottish homesteaders between 150 and 200 years ago. The son of the original settler, Angus Smith, built the house from wood cut, milled and planed by hand for his bride Maggie. Since she outlived her husband by many years the property became know as "Maggie's Place". We are proud to continue the tradition. Staying at Maggie's is more than the usual holiday experience. To quote one of our numerous reviews (on a competing site), "...It was like we had stepped back in time and we had this beautiful historic house all to ourselves. This is a home where you can feel not like a tourist but like a local for a while - you feel like you belong." Maggie's is ideally located between the Highlands National Park and the village of Baddeck. and therefore an excellent place from which to explore Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail or just to relax. The area has numerous and varied hiking trails - some of which start at the back door of Maggie's. There are several sandy beaches nearby. The closest one is a 5 minute drive away and is adjacent to the local fisherman's wharf - where in season you can buy lobster and crab fresh from the boat. You may also arrange to go fishing or sightseeing on one of the many boats in this harbour or whale watching on charters nearby. Cape Breton is famous for its strong Celtic and Acadian cultures. (It apparently has more fiddlers per capita than any other part of the world.) You may attend a local "Ceilidh" almost any night or Celtic Colours - the 10 day international festival in October. Several restaurants are within easy commuting distance. For those interested in our rich history, the Alexander Graham Bell Museum is a 45 min. drive and the historic Fortress of Louisbourg is less than 90 min. away. Maggie's is in Skir Dhu on the world-famous Cabot Trail. This region of Cape Breton Island was first settled by Scottish homesteaders over 150 years ago. The son of the original Scottish settler, Colin Smith, built the house from wood cut and milled by hand for his bride Maggie. Since she survived her husband by many years the property came to be called "Maggie's Place". Skir Dhu is on the "North Shore" of Cape Breton Island. It is know for its excellent lobster and crab fishery, its Celtic and Gaelic culture and of course its scenery.
