The SpacePlease contact us if the calendar/pricing is not cooperating. We require that you book for at least 5 nights. If you want to stay longer than 7 nights please contact us. We want you to treasure the memories you make during your stay at our summer home. We love our lakeside cottage. It sits right at the waters edge with no steep banks and water that gradually gets deeper, which is perfect for families with young children. You can enjoy the raft for cannonballing your friends and family. The cottage is 40 ft. x 24 ft. and has two bedrooms downstairs and one huge room upstairs. Although the cottage sleeps eleven we limit the number of guests at 4-5. You will need to bring your own linens: Downstairs bedroom #1 - Queen Downstairs bedroom #2 - 1 Twin + 1 Full Upstairs bedroom - 1 Queen + 2 Twin There are two living room spaces downstairs and one upstairs. We don't have television reception (by choice), but do provide DVD players both downstairs and upstairs. We offer an assortment of DVDs and a wall of books. At camp we love to get lost in a book. We are the third owners of the cottage. We met the man who built it in 1974. It was a labor of love. We have made many enhancements, but we have tried to keep the charm of the earlier owners. In order to have the cottage so close to the water way back in 1974 a bunch of fill was brought in and the camp was built on the fill. We are grateful for that, but it does lend itself to floors that shift and slope a bit. Every few years we jack it up, but it inevitably slopes. With the sloping, the 4x8 ft. doors don't open and are simply windows now. We have had to use a bit of duct tape to fill gaps that have resulted from the camp settling on the fill. Our cottage is very much a traditional Maine cottage. We spend hours just hanging out on the deck with family and friends. Although we do live a couple of hours from our camp, we have family with cottages across the lake. We ask that you do not bring any pets with you. This is firm as we have neighbors nearby and we have family guests with allergies. Guest AccessGuests will have full use of our cottage, three kayaks, a canoe and a beautiful spring-fed lake. We do store our things out of the way during your stay and place them in bins upstairs. We will have the camp all cleaned for you and ask that you leave it in the same condition when you leave. By asking you to do this we are able to keep our fees to a minimum. We do require a security deposit, but will gladly refund if the camp is left clean and ready for our next guests and if everything is still in good working order. Interaction with GuestsWe would love to personally welcome you to our cottage; however if you are staying at our cottage then we will be at our home in Bangor or away on our own adventure. We will be available to you via telephone, text and email. The NeighborhoodWe love our camp! We also love our neighbors and our lake community. We ask that you respect our camp, our neighbors and our community. Other Things to NoteOur property line on the side of our camp, as you exit the door, is very close. We ask that you respect our neighbors and not go beyond our property line. It is marked so that you will know. We have lots of waterfront, a huge deck and a big driveway, so feel free to spread out in those areas. We provide: ~ Propane ~ Life Jackets (3 adult and 2 children) We do not rent, but have available for use: ~ 3 kayaks ~ 1 canoe (green)

The SpaceFulton Lake Cottage is a quaint shingled lake home reminiscent of the many lake cottages of Maine’s Vacationland renown. We have attempted to infuse the spirit of the Maine outdoors with its history of winter and summer sporting camps into our lake home. When you walk in, you will see antique fishing rods and reels, sleds and skates, skis and snowshoes that will remind you of Maine’s offering of recreation in all seasons. Many of these items have been in our family for decades and now have become antiques and collectibles. Fulton Lake Cottage is a cozy home on three levels. The main level is the heart of the home with the generous kitchen and a large family table in one open space. Traditional pine half-panels covers the walls and hardwood floors offer warmth and beauty. The well-furnished kitchen has plenty of counter space for cooking and an island where family members can gather around. The main floor includes one bedroom with a full size bed, dresser and closet. The large bathroom is on the main level as well. Throw open the French doors that are off the kitchen and open to an airy screened porch so you can feel the lake breezes while you’re cooking or relaxing. You can also access the large covered deck from the screened porch. The deck is covered and has plenty of space for outdoor entertaining. Above the main floor are two lofts. Kids love the safely secured ladder that leads to the little loft. This is a small space with a day bed where you can read a book or even take a nap. A set of stairs in the dining area leads up to the big loft. This space has two full size log frame beds and is decorated Maine lumberjack style with buffalo plaid bedspreads. The big loft sleeps two individual or two couples. Downstairs on the lower level is the family room with comfortable leather furniture—two full size couches and two easy chairs. This is a great leisure space in which people can relax and talk or watch DVDs on the flat-screen television. There is a small gate-leg table that can be pulled out for games or puzzles. The lower level also has a gas log that can be enjoyed in chilly weather. The larger bedroom is on this lower level. This bedroom has king-size bed and large closet. Next to the bedroom is the laundry and utility room with a washer and dryer. The lower level also has French doors that walk out to the ground level and is only a few steps away from the path down to the dock and the lake. Outdoors offers more ways to relax. The large covered deck with a hanging swing, outdoor furniture, and an outdoor dining set offer plenty of space to enjoy the spectacular Maine days and nights. Grill out on the deck or bring home some lobster! You can also enjoy the evening weather with a bonfire in the fire pit. Fulton Lake Cottage is surrounded by beautiful evergreens that lay a carpet of needles on the mossy path to the lakeside and scent the breeze with the fragrance of the Maine woods. There is a dock at the waters' edge from which you can fish, swim or launch a kayak. Guest AccessRelax at camp and enjoy kayaking on the lake or use it as a home base to foray into the true Down East Maine and Canada. Fulton Lake Cottage is 20 minutes to Machias. Easy day trips to wonderful places like Quoddy Head State Park, Acadia National Park, FDR’s Campobello International Park, or St. Andrews New Brunswick. Interaction with GuestsFeel free to contact us during your stay so that we may assist you with any needs or questions about the cottage or surrounding area. The NeighborhoodFulton Lake Cottage is set on a 3 acre wooded lot with no views of neighbors' homes from the house. Getting AroundThe Cottage has a large graveled driveway which can easily accommodate several vehicles. Other Things to NoteThe Cottage's location has very weak cell phone coverage but is equipped with a 911 access phone for emergencies. The cottage also has high speed, wireless internet access. This charming, rustic cabin is on Six Mile Lake near Machias, Maine, approximately 7 miles from the ocean. It's perfect for a quiet retreat away from people, traffic, pollution, and many of the trappings of modern life. Please note that this is a completely off-grid, seasonal cabin (May-October). It does not have indoor plumbing, running water, or electricity. It does have a fairly well-equipped kitchen with an old-style sink basin, a propane-powered refrigerator, and a conventional, propane-powered oven and stove. It's most appealing to hikers, campers, and people who love the peace and solitude of the outdoors. It has 250 feet of (private) shore frontage, and when you are sitting on the dock, you'll have almost complete privacy. Please note that we are a bit 'old-school' when it comes to reserving our cabin. We like to have contact with prospective guests by phone or email before accepting a reservation. This is to help ensure that there are no misunderstandings regarding the cabin's rustic features and lack of conventional amenities. Dogs of any size or type are welcome at the cabin and will have plenty of space to roam off-leash. There is only one other cabin located anywhere near ours, however it's barely visible from our place, and it is rarely used. We don't charge any additional fees for dogs, for firewood, or for the use of our canoe. Please note that Saturday is the changeover date for weekly rentals. For shorter stays, this is flexible. Though we normally have a 3-day minimum, 2-day stays are also possible depending on the dates. Keywords: Cabin, Off-Grid, Secluded, Dog-Friendly, Lake-Front, Down East Maine
