Private year round home. Book a week for 2017 before January and save $200. If you love nature and enjoy outdoor activities while appreciating simple décor and uncluttered living-You’ll love this home. It’s not rustic and filled with collectible cabin treasures. This home is a craftsman, timber frame log home, contemporary in style and simple in design. You won’t suffer-Yes we’re in the woods, but only a few minutes’ walk from the town center. It’s luxury living in the heart of Maine’s lake region with all the comforts of home. Close enough to the ocean and Portland, but far enough to be alone and at peace with nature. No city noises; no ringing phones-- unless it’s yours. You can open up the walls of French doors and feel like you’re living outside, but without the bugs. You can turn on the radio, TV with cable, or access the WIFI to check your emails, but still hear the peepers and the loons. You can cook everything in the wood fired pizza oven, or over the fire pit, or use the convection/microwave, or regular oven. Norway hosts many local fairs and events: Christmas parade, fishing derbies, Art festival on Main Street-July 9, 2016 & Triathlon, snow festival in February, etc. We’re in Oxford County , come for the fair September 14-17, 2016 or the casino. We’re not far from the Fryeburg Fair, October 2nd-9th, 2016, a great time of year for fall foliage. Auburn Hot Air Balloon Festival August 19-21, 2016 This location has down to earth living with friendly people who smile when you say hello. 3 Bedrooms upstairs with queen beds, 1 first floor master bedroom with queen, 2 full bath, upper laundry, sleeps 8-10, sleep sofa with queen, two fireplaces, wireless internet & cable TV, ping-pong, darts, outdoor fire pit, beautiful gardens, dock with seating area. We’re on the quiet side of the lake, great for floating, canoeing, sailing, fishing and privacy. Crystal clear water but only about 5 ft deep at end of the dock. Bring your own motor boat. The public beach is located near Lake Store and boat launch, 2 miles away. We do not have a beach. White’s Marina directly across the lake offers boat rentals & supplies gas. This home is a wonderful place for an adult retreat, a vacation spot for those who enjoy different activities, a perfect home for family gatherings, or great central location for area activities. Here are our favorite things about Maine: The sunset from the dock and going across the lake to Boomers for lunch via boat, float, skis, ice skates, or snowmobile. Sitting under the porch during a rain storm or feeding the tamed chipmunks. We are at one with nature, but so close to civilization; we see otters, deer, lunar moths and the green frogs that stick to our windows, but could shop at major grocery stores right down the street. We listen to the loons and the peepers on a warm summer night but could go to the casino, county fair, or drive-in movie instead. We enjoy clam bakes and Lobster meals over the bon-fire, followed with marshmallow roasting and baked apples. We love the view of the hemlocks covered in snow and a visit to the Poland House to enjoy holiday shopping and wonder at Steve’s talent for decorating, or walking downtown early morning to pick up the paper and a coffee. The indoor yard-sale, Pa’s Trading Post, antiquing, auctions, walking to the farmers market on Thursday afternoon, or to listen to a local artist at the pub. Stepfalls is one of our favorite hikes because you climb up the waterfall. It’s only about 35 minutes from the house. You could even bring along your gold pan, or stop to mine for tourmaline on the way home. The kids love to spend the day water tubing followed by a pizza party where everyone makes their own favorite pizza. There’s plenty to do at night: watch a movie, play board games, sing to karaoke -4 microphones, darts, snowmobiling, sledding or heading up town to local shops that offer knitting, beading and local musicians. (varies daily) We’re close to several golf courses: Norway, Poland Springs & Sunday River and have direct access to the snowmobile, ATV and cross country ski trails. There’s great skiing and snow tubing, at many local resorts. We try to visit Portland at least once a month. The community is very supportive of the arts. Portland hosts open Gallery night the first Friday of every month; all the galleries are open until midnight. Try a boat cruise or deep-sea fishing; take the Down-easter Train to Old Orchard Beach for the day, one of the few remaining amusement parks on the ocean. You could take the train to Boston and enjoy the historic city without needing a cab once you get there and for less than you’d pay for gas and tolls if you where driving. We try to buy local because we know what we’re getting. Each farm is different, some have petting zoos, corn mazes, pick your own veggies and fruit, pumpkin patches, maple sugar huts and many have fresh lobster, seafood, natural meats, eggs and milk. We build huge memories here with friends and family. That’s why we love it. We think you’ll love it, too! We have changed our weekly checkin/out to In Friday, at 4pm out Friday, at noon. This is to avoid Saturday traffic on route 95N and Sunday traffic on 95S. This has been a popular request.
